My mother came to Amberside in October 2023 and died peacefully there a few days ago. She wasn't one for taking part in activities or doing anything she didn't want to do, but the manager and her wonderful team encouraged, cajoled, were exasperated and most importantly were caring. She usually refused
to take part in communal activities, so the staff came to her. Her room was clean, her clothes were washed, her personal needs were attended to. I was informed of any changes as soon as they happened. The doctor was called quickly if there were any concerns. I was welcomed whenever I visited, and so were all my family. We were known by name and made to feel part of the Amberside family. The staff who were there when Mum died were so kind and considerate both to Mum and to me.
The physical building may not be modern and smart, it's a bit of a warren of corridors and rooms, but it is homely and welcoming, and I am so grateful that is where my mum spent her last few months.

My mother-in-law was discharged from the hospital into the home temporarily, we were so lucky as a family that she went into Amberside because of the care that she received, she felt respected. She felt that they were always so understanding and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. They tried to let
her have as much independence as possible and dignity and all staff worked as a team. Great leadership, very respectful to all involved and great support for family as well. I can highly recommend this home. Anyone would be fortunate and lucky to receive this home for a relative.

My lovely mother-in-law was at Amberside sadly not for long before she passed. From the second we had the home visit until this very day the caring nature of staff to residents has been paramount. Clean, home-from-home feel this care home is one in a million! She was bathed and put in a lovely comfortable
bed within an hour of being there. Although we knew she didn't have long knowing that she was being treated and looked after with such empathy and respect was so reassuring.
I did speak to another resident while I was there who said he loved it so much there he didn't want to go back to his own home! That's testament in itself.
Thank you so much for looking after us with tea, homemade cake, caring and sympathy at a very sad time in our lives.

My husband who had Alzheimer's died recently after being a resident for nearly three years. We (his family) chose Amberside because it is small and homely and we have not been disappointed. My husband was wonderfully and lovingly cared for from day one right through to the end. The staff are welcoming
and quickly became 'family' to us all. We will miss our visits and the celebration get-togethers for residents and families/friends. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for somewhere for a loved one especially one with dementia.

The manager and the fantastic team at Amberside looked after both my parents at separate times between 2021 and 2023. The team went above and beyond the call of duty in looking after my mum, who was suffering from terminal cancer. They treated my mum like she was their own family. She was always clean,
well-fed and hydrated. Nothing was too much trouble and family were encouraged to visit at any time and made to feel welcome.
The home itself is clean and bright with friendly staff who go the extra mile for everyone. The food is great and there are extra services like hairdressing and chiropody. The home is always beautifully decorated for Christmas, Easter, Valentine’s etc. As a Registered Nurse myself, I know good quality care when I see it and I have no hesitation in highly recommending Amberside Care Home to anyone seeking great care.

My mum recently passed away at Amberside Care Home, with her carers around her. Unfortunately, she developed dementia in her last few months of life and could be very difficult at times, but the love and care she received never faltered. The respect shown to Mum while waiting for the undertakers to
arrive and the comfort given to me and my family was outstanding. The staff couldn’t do enough for us, supplying us with tea and sympathy until we were ready to say our goodbyes.


My family and I cannot thank the staff enough for making our mum’s stay at Amberside Care Home a happy one.

The team at Amberside Care Home looked after both my parents at different times in their final months of life. The care they each received was outstanding. There is a true sense of family created at the home, with staff that really do know the residents and effortlessly adapt to meet not only their
many physical needs but also social and emotional needs. I will forever remember the genuine smiles that greet you when you visit, the open-door policy so that visits can be scheduled around busy lives, the laughs with residents and staff alike, the unending compassion shown by staff to both residents and their families and the utter professionalism that is ever-present. The fact that, over several years, the staff barely changed is a testament not only to their dedication and commitment but also to the strong management of the home. I cannot rate Amberside highly enough if you are making the difficult decision to find a home for your loved one. The team at Amberside have my family’s complete trust.

I am always greeted with a warm welcome and encouraged to sign in. Staff always invite us in and escort me to my grandmother's room. We (Grandma and I) are always offered a drink. We, as a family, have a good experience. It is always nice to visit.

There is a real homely atmosphere ay Amberside. The residents are all living together rather than separately in the same establishment. The staff literally could not be kinder, more attentive and friendly. I simply do not know how they maintain their very high standards. I would definitely recommend

My wife and I were recommended to look at Amberside for respite care for our mother. From the first meeting, we were impressed with the friendly and caring staff and the welcoming and homely feel of the home. The Amberside team went out of their way to make her comfortable, taking into account her

My mother has been a resident at Amberside since it opened, nearly 2 years ago. She has always been treated with the utmost care and respect and has been very happy.
More recently Mum has been in hospital for several weeks and is now bedbound. Staff at Amberside have been outstanding, going out of
their way to welcome her back home and their care, understanding and sensitivity to her needs have been second to none. An absolutely outstanding home for Mum.

I'm a regular visitor to the home to see my uncle. Always lovely, friendly, accommodating staff. The best part of being a resident is because it's so small the staff treat every resident as an individual.

I began regular visits early in 2019 when the home was being upgraded from poor quality rating. The genuine effort to provide food standards plus sincere love and care for residents soon became increasingly obvious. The residents appear content and well looked after. The staff spend quality time with
them and are genuinely interested and concerned for their welfare. The staff themselves appear to get on well and to take pride in their work.

Since I saw the care home, I was impressed by the friendliness of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. Questions were all answered, my sister has many chats with the chef - and the food looks much better since she's been there. I was very impressed when I saw Amberside Care Home. It always looks
nice and clean with something happening for the residents.

My wife and I are extremely pleased with the care that my mother receives at Amberside. The management of the home is excellent. My mother has been a resident for a number of months now and she continues to receive top class care from the staff at the home. She is treated with dignity by all the staff
and we feel confident that she is in a safe and secure environment.
Amberside’s facilities are very clean and her room is spacious and meets her needs. There are a number of regular activities provided for the residents and the atmosphere of the home is friendly and welcoming. The food and drink provision is excellent. We highly recommend Amberside Residential Care Home in Watford.
