My mother has been at Highview Lodge for a couple of years now and she has never been happier even though the virus lockdown she has been in good spirits and speaks highly of the staff that care for her. What more could ask as a family wish for her? Thank you all.

The manager and team have been nothing short of amazing. Nothing is too much trouble and my Dad is so calm and happy and it’s so evident that he is well cared for. They have been so supportive and caring through this adjustment period with me too, can’t thank them enough.

All staff gave treated me as a very important person. The manager and assistant manager are fantastic people and also the day centre staff

High View Lodge's standard of care is exemplary, not only to residents who are partly paid for by the council but also to private residents. The standard of care by management and staff should be used as a benchmark for the whole of the UK. I'm so grateful my mother is a resident here.

I found the staff lovely but security was a big issue, my dad who has dementia managed to get out the main doors. When my dad came out he had no false teeth a lot of clothes missing and some money. I don't think for one minute it was the staff but every time I went to visit dad there was a resident
going in all the rooms taking personal belongings which I don't think is acceptable. On several occasions, I have called the home to find out if any of my dad's belongings have been found and never had a call returned.

Found the staff to be very caring, supportive and safe. Excellent management, willing to listen to family members, and take appropriate actions in a prompt manner. All carers are very friendly polite and caring. These are exceptional carers who consider and care for the residents like their own family
members. Accepting and respecting cultures and values.

This home is very welcoming. The staff are excellent especially the manager and the senior staff. They treat everyone as individuals and tailor their approach fittingly.
It is very clean and the rooms are all bright and individually furnished.
My friend says that the food is good. The fact that residents
can request snacks or help themselves is excellent.
My only negative is that it can get quite hot and stuffy. Some more activities for more able residents would be good.

I went to visit someone and the staff asked who I was there to see and that person was in the Day Centre. They went and got that person and nothing was too much trouble, very polite and helpful.
Whenever I go it is always so clean and the rooms are beautiful. All the staff are very caring and are always
on hand to help.
They all take care of the residents so much. It is a real treat to go into this home. It is a loving home where you know the residents are well cared for.

My mother who is now aged 101 has always refused to have any kind of care from outside the family. However, due to unforeseen circumstances we needed respite care for two weeks and were able to take her to High View Lodge. Since then, her physical condition meant that she needed full-time care but she
would only go to High View Lodge. She is having fantastic care there and although she complains constantly (that is her nature) she is comfortable, has a lovely room and wants for nothing. Having lived independently and never being ill or in a hospital, she is finding it hard to adapt but the staff are helping her as much as they can to come to terms with her situation.

My Mum was a resident in this home for more than 8 years. In that time her quality of life was enhanced by living at High View Lodge. This was mainly due to the staff who in my opinion went over and beyond their duties to make my Mum feel happy and safe. Whenever I visited the home the staff seemed
to be smiling and jolly, not the usual smile was given to a relative visiting to look good but a genuine smile and desire to care.

Many thanks for everything.

This was my father's first experience in a care home for respite and he was very nervous. The staff made him feel relaxed and showed him care and compassion. He felt much calmer after just one night!

On entering High view Lodge there is an immediate feeling of attention, care and tremendous warmth. This is followed up by the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to not only interact, but a willingness to engage in a considerate and concerned manner.
All staff appear to have knowledge
and insight to all the residents, which is reassuring and satisfying.
Management and Staff are always available and willing to discuss matters of concern and are eager to ensure residents are foremost in everything.
The facilities and resources are very good and the whole building is kept exceptionally clean. Bedrooms are well serviced and maintained as are communal and eating areas.
Outside areas including car park are well looked after and assist in creating a welcoming and pleasant environment.
In addition, there is a constructive desire to ensure residents feel part of a community and that their safety and well-being is paramount. This is supported by a wide range of activities.
Thank you.

I have enjoyed my stay at Highview. The help and support from carers and management has been excellent. The only reason for me leaving is to be back in my home town closer to friends.

I come to the Day Centre seven days a week. The care is first class. Coming to the Day Centre seven days keeps me staying at home. I am an independent lady and at the Day Centre I help setting the dinner tables and help with washing up and this helps me to stay independent. Without going to the Day
Centre I would not know what to do with myself, I love it there.

My mother has been in the care of High View for some four years. I visit regularly about every week or ten days at various times. Mother's dementia is quite profound and as a consequence she is totally dependant on the staff. I am constantly impressed at their ability to interpret her needs and fulfil
them. The standard of care they provide is, in my view excellent. She is always treated as an individual, her likes and dislikes both acknowledged and accommodated and an effort is always made to give time to provide the non-essential services which are most appreciated. The standard of food is exceptionally good. I have every confidence that the care mother receives is of a very good standard.

Current Review Score: 8.5 (8.460)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.5 (8.460) out of 10 for Highview Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.470 for Highview Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (49 Excellents x 5) + (25 Goods x 4) + (8 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.47

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.99 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Highview Lodge is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 77 registered maximum number of service users is 15.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 15.4 = 0.39

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
