The home is excellently presented/very clean/tidy/and very well maintained.
The staff are trained to the highest standard and a credit to the health service.
All residents seem very happy and contented.
Food is of the highest standard and the rooms are of a grade 5 hotel.
The Lodge is a fantastic
example of healthcare at its excellence.
I would recommend The Lodge to any person needing this help.

After my terrible experience at another care home, it was so lovely to arrive here to a friendly welcome from the staff and seeing the rooms. Nothing is too much trouble, one night one of the girls sat and talked for fifteen minutes. I think she saw I was down. Above and beyond I would call it.

My dad has completely settled in The Lodge Care Home and his basic needs are being met with empathy. The staff have made a huge effort to understand him, being attentive to his needs.
Communication between staff could be improved. Always have a lovely welcome when I arrive at the front office.

I am completing this review as I have power of attorney for my brother. I am completely satisfied with the care given to him. The staff are always friendly and caring when I visit and always telephone me, should the need arise, about his health. I also see a lot of the activities and what is going on
on Facebook which I like as I live away from Hemel. Also, they help him video call me frequently.

Mum has been warmly welcomed since coming to The Lodge Care Home, all members of staff are friendly and approachable and nothing is too much. There's plenty for residents to do and plenty of entertainment and the family is welcome to participate. The support for me, as Mum's daughter, from all staff
has been paramount to my own health worries and has made the move to a care home a lot easier.

My husband was a resident at The Lodge for four weeks, and from the very beginning, I found all the staff to be very kind, caring and empathetic to us both.

My mum has been at The Lodge Care Home for nearly three years and is happy and well looked after. She receives excellent care and the staff are very hard working and professional while being approachable and friendly. Management is approachable and the food is lovely. The home is clean and helpful at
all times. The laundry is done to a high standard. The home is safe and secure and meets all my mum's needs. The activities/engagement lead is excellent, I cannot praise her highly enough.

My experience of The Lodge Care Home, following Mum's 10-week stay in the hospital and her subsequent discharge in the first week of December 2022, has been both professional and caring throughout. Right from the initial phone contact and tour of the lodge and its facilities, through to choosing a room
ready for Mum on discharge has been positively supported by the team at The Lodge with good communication. My mum settled in very quickly and has now been a resident for three weeks. The support she receives from the staff is first-rate, while she is enjoying her food and is proud of her nice new room. During her stay, there has been no deprivation of service or standards over weekends or during the busy Christmas period.

My husband was treated with understanding and good humour. The staff treated him as an individual and became friends to him. Management were especially accommodating regarding his particular needs. The activities provided were amazing and the whole atmosphere was one of an extended family.

Mum came here on discharge from hospital, initially, she had to isolate for two weeks but we could visit each day in her room. The staff have, without exception, been lovely. I have been on the phone a number of times, to Mum when staff have come in, unaware that I'm listening. They have always been
kind, polite, caring and listen to her.

We moved Dad into the Lodge approximately two months ago. When he arrived, Dad was underweight, really withdrawn and immobile. His last home did not look after him well. In the two months at The Lodge, Dad has put weight back on, has been more communicative and is now walking again, albeit with assistance.
We put this down to the nurturing environment the staff demonstrate and deliver on a daily basis. The nursing supervisor has played a critical role in engaging Dad on a one-to-one basis and bringing him into the wider group; this has been a great success. All of the staff are incredibly helpful and do what they say they will do, which is really refreshing. We are really happy with the level of care. Thank you.

Lisa Pinner

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2014

My career within care started in 1989 when I have appointed the role of Care Assistant in a care home setting close to Potters Bar, Hertfordshire – an opportunity that led to my promotion to Assistant Manager in 1993. 1999 was a landmark in my category, one that saw my progress on to become Acting Home Manager, before being appointed a registered Home Manager in 2004. With a great number of years of experience, I felt confident enough to apply for the same role at The Lodge in 2014 – one that to date inspired me with a continual learning curve, and better fulfilled my passion for delivering person-specific residential and specialist dementia care.
