The staff looked took wonderful care of my mum who had end-stage dementia. Absolutely lovely people, warm, kind, attentive and respectful of all the residents. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you.

My granny has been at Lyndon for 5 years and is so happy there. The staff are friendly and attentive, there are lots of fun activities for residents and they are fed well! The rooms are surrounded by green trees and are homely (even more so because you can bring your own furniture!) Highly recommend.

My mother has been in Lyndon for 5 years. Every time I go she says 'I love it here'! She has a beautifully spotless clean en-suite room where she has some of her furniture and photos to make it her home. She loves looking out of the window at the garden and the birds and going to the 'restaurant' where
she can feast on all the goodies she never let herself eat before! It is a caring family. The most important thing is the Christian ethos of the Salvation Army. The staff literally are the 'hands and feet of Jesus' caring for the elderly. My mother's voice and hymn singing has improved with the regular 'prayer and praise' sessions! The companionship and joyful community spirit created by the staff and varied activities are literally 'life-giving!' The building and grounds are beautiful - as you arrive you'll hear the birds tweeting - and you'll know it's a place of peace. Thank you Lyndon for making my mummy's daily life happy as she lives with the varying stages of dementia.

My mother has resided at Lyndon for over 5 years. She is living with dementia but she is happy and content and that is because she is well cared for and she is treated kindly. She loves the lounge activities such as singing and music and also any sports activities. Many of the carers have worked there
a long time which is very important for a dementia sufferer as familiarity makes them feel safe.

My husband has been a resident of Lyndon since June 2021. During that time he has been well cared for despite various changes of management. It would be nigh on impossible to give the level of care now required at home and to find somewhere that not only looks after him with love but also without judgement
is very comforting. There are various activities consistently offered in an attempt to keep residents involved and interested. The staff are equally welcoming to me as a visitor. On the understanding that nobody would ever wish to leave a family member somewhere away from home, the Lyndon family do all they can to integrate residents into the Lyndon family and treat them with respect.

Lyndon Residential Home was on a short list of one. My father knew the home first as a visitor, so when the time came, it was an easy choice. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and it is set in lovely grounds, which is enjoyed by plenty of wildlife as well as the residents. The home is small and
kept very clean, and the staff try to cater for the individuality of each resident. The care provided is very good, although, with the pressures of time, some things cannot be carried out in a timescale that my father would prefer. Communication is very good, with next of kin being contacted with any updates that are relevant. Communication with my father could be better though, as he's often unaware of when his next shower might be, and 'I'll be back in 5 minutes' often turns out to be longer. Plenty of activities are arranged, although my father chooses not to join in many. I'd certainly recommend Lyndon to anyone needing a home-from-home.

The general atmosphere of the home is warm, friendly and caring. There are plenty of stimulating activities, and a wide range of entertainment (art, music, physical games and agility). The residents are able to be included in the everyday running where possible, setting tables, arranging flowers, gardening
etc. A broad repertoire of 'entertainment' is included in the quarterly program.

Lyndon Residential Home is a place that is as close to home from home as you can get when you are no longer able to look after yourself. I am extremely happy with the care that my mother receives and more than anything have peace of mind that she is safe and being well looked after. Every single member
of staff shows love and kindness towards her and she definitely thrives on that. It is lovely for myself to visit and receive such a warm welcome, usually with one of my dogs! My mother, prior to being diagnosed with Dementia, was somewhat of a reserved nature, but now it is lovely to hear her singing! The home itself is in a beautiful old rectory building and the gardens have recently had a wonderful facelift with gazebo, sensory lighting and water feature. It is lovely to see photos of my mother looking happy when we are not with her and to be kept up to date with her welfare. Of the care homes I viewed prior to my mother moving in, I would not hesitate to recommend Lyndon Residential Home.

Talking to staff about my mother I was impressed by the knowledge and insight everyone had about my mother from management to canteen and cleaning staff.
It is clear they all know her very well, her personality, history and condition. They must spend a lot of time talking to her.

My sister-in-law, aged100, who was a Salvation Army Officer all her life, is very happy and lovingly cared for at Lyndon House. She has dementia but her condition is well understood and sensitively managed by all the staff. We are always warmly welcomed when we visit and are kept well informed of any
change in her condition. She has a very pleasant room en-suite and enjoys the attractive, spacious garden in the summer. Residents are treated as individuals, there is a warm and loving atmosphere in the Home and we have total peace of mind about the care she receives.

This is my first experience of a residential care home. The home is always warm and very welcoming. The staff are very caring and nothing is too much bother. They appear to actually care for the residents and my mother seems very fond of the staff that care for her. So they must treat her kindly and
look after her well to have this bond with them.

I have the peace of mind that my mother is in a safe and secure environment, is comfortable and warm, and above all is being very well looked after. I know that if she is unwell at any time, she will get the medical help she might need. My mother trusts the Salvation Army to look after her, and she
knows of all the good they do. The home is friendly and relaxed and has a homely and welcoming atmosphere.

I have found this to be a comfortable home staffed by caring and competent people who are always ready to respond to requests and questions of both residents and relatives. It is reassuring to know that my very elderly relative is safe and content and being well supported despite her needs to the extent
that her wellbeing and health has improved since she has been here.

The Christian ethos is also much appreciated.

My mother came to Lyndon after a period of illness and some mental confusion. Key in the decision to choose Lyndon was our view of the staff, for whom no praise is too high. Without exception, I have found them to be committed and caring, familiar with the residents individual needs and concerns,
and willing to do all they can to ensure that they are happy in their environment.

My mother's mental health has improved considerably in their care. Whilst there are probably newer care homes with more luxurious facilities (although Lyndon's tranquil environment and the gardens are particularly good), the quality of care and individual attention my mother receives more than makes up for this.

I would be happy to recommend Lyndon to others in a similar situation.

My mother has been a resident in this home for just over a year.
She feels happy, well cared for and comfortable there.
The staff are excellent - without exception, I've always found them to be caring, patient and helpful.
The accommodation and facilities are good and my mother takes particular pleasure
from the gardens, which are well-managed to provide maximum interest and enjoyment.
When I visit my mother I always receive a warm and friendly welcome from the staff and most of all when I have to leave I feel perfectly content that she is in the best possible care.

My mother said she'd never go into a care home. Now she's at Lyndon Residential Home she is very happy and would be very upset to leave.
I think this is a very good Salvation Army Care Home. All the staff are very accommodating and friendly and helpful at caring.
I enjoy visiting my mother there because
the atmosphere is so good.
Excellent home for my 94 year old mother!!!

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.212)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.212) out of 10 for Lyndon Residential Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.512 for Lyndon Residential Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.512

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lyndon Residential Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 registered maximum number of service users is 6.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
