Margaret House residential and dementia care home is an independent, award winning family-run business.

Established in 1971, it offers long stay residential and dementia care as well as respite care, with either single or double rooms available.

Whether living in the beautiful, sympathetically converted former rectory or the purpose-built wing, the aim is the same - to provide a place that residents truly regard as their home.

Experienced, dedicated staff have a genuine care for, and understanding of, each individual resident’s needs, concerns or desires and that caring extends not only to residents but to their relatives as well.

Relatives and friends are always warmly welcome to join residents for lunch or dinner and to participate with them in any of the many varied activities and well being events that take place daily at Margaret House - where care means caring.

Since coming to Margaret House, following a fall and major surgery, the staff have done everything possible to make my mother welcome, comfortable and settled. At all times she has been treated with patience, affection and professionalism. The family feel fortunate to have found such a caring home for

During lockdown number two, my father's condition has significantly deteriorated to the point where a home was the safest option for him. The staff made the transition from his home efficient and smooth, that he was looking forward to becoming a resident. Once he had arrived, he was made to feel at
home straight away; he had even started to do things that he hadn't done in years such as baking. I firmly believe it was down to the staff that he had improved cognitively, so much so, I had a conversation with him that seemed to have taken him back 18-months. Dad did frustratingly have an infection that really set in back in January, to the point the hospital put him in "end of life care". Once Dad returned from the hospital, the care that was put in place was second to none, so much so, that he has been able to stand, walk and talk again - which was a long way off the hospital's projection of - never walking again, and communication by nodding his head. I would strongly recommend Margaret House to anyone considering staying either long or short term. All the team are fantastic, with both Dad and family. An excellent care home that you can trust to take care of your loved ones - highly, highly recommended! Thank you Margaret House.

Once I accepted I needed help being looked after, Margaret House was the obvious choice and a few weeks later I moved in. It is a listed building ad is full of character and atmosphere and has quirky, unexpected corners. My room is fabulous! Large and bright with 2 windows overlooking the gardens. It
had been freshly decorated and carpeted, a new 'wet room' put in and new furniture. I was able to take some furniture of my own and my pictures were put up for me. I have it all and feel very cared for by the staff. I have lunch downstairs with the other residents and the food is delicious! As I am diabetic I am provided with any foods I want or need. I enjoy pursuing my hobbies of drawing and pottery painting. I feel at home and am very happy and content.

Margaret House was extremely professional and caring towards the family needs. The atmosphere is warm and friendly. The facilities are bright and airy. The staff truly caring, helpful and friendly. We so appreciated being able to visit in the garden, despite Covid restrictions and throughout the end of life stage.

All members of staff at Margaret House, have made my 96-year-old mum’s transition, from independent living to that of within a care home environment, an extremely smooth one. It was an anxious time for my siblings and myself, however, we struck lucky with Margaret House. Within a few days, Mum has settled
in so well and considers her fellow residents and members of staff to be her new friends. Needless to say, we are so relieved to know that Mum is happy in her new home and is being looked after by such a professional and compassionate team. I will never be able to thank you all enough.

The premises are clean and well kept and the preferences of residents are accommodated wherever possible. The staff are competent and caring and I think of them as friends. They go out of their way to look after residents according to their needs and it's a weight off my mind to know that they are looking
after my parents.
A minor weakness is in communication sometimes messages are not passed on, or calls returned. But overall an excellent home.

Margaret House is an excellent care home. My mother has resided here for 14-months, and her care has been exceptional. Even during the Covid virus pandemic, whilst I couldn't see her, I never worried. I know she was in the very best hands, kept busy with activities and everything she needed. I would
highly recommend Margaret Hosue for any elderly persons care.

My mother-in-law has lived in Margaret House for just over 5 years. It is a fantastic home and she has had exemplary care throughout her time there in both wings of the house. The staff are very caring and go the extra mile for residents. Management keeps families fully informed and support the resident's

Margaret House has been in my husband's family since 1971 and our ethos has always been that we treat every resident as if they were a beloved member of our own family.


I am proud to be part of the 2nd generation of the Kelly family managing our family run home. I take extremely seriously my responsibility for ensuring that we continue to provide the same care and attention to our residents that we always have in a warm, happy, safe and secure environment.


My team and I are here to answer any initial questions you may have and, should you choose Margaret House as your new home, to support and guide you through every step of the initial move to ensure that you are able to quickly and happily settle in. We are then all here for you and your family at every step in the future.

As an avid reader, I also run our very popular monthly book club for residents.
