Margaret House residential and dementia care home is an independent, award winning family-run business.

Established in 1971, it offers long stay residential and dementia care as well as respite care, with either single or double rooms available.

Whether living in the beautiful, sympathetically converted former rectory or the purpose-built wing, the aim is the same - to provide a place that residents truly regard as their home.

Experienced, dedicated staff have a genuine care for, and understanding of, each individual resident’s needs, concerns or desires and that caring extends not only to residents but to their relatives as well.

Relatives and friends are always warmly welcome to join residents for lunch or dinner and to participate with them in any of the many varied activities and well being events that take place daily at Margaret House - where care means caring.

I have been visiting my friend in Margaret House for well over a year now, and I am always made to feel most welcome when I walk in. The carers are so friendly and my friend is always so well cared for and supported if she is feeling under the weather. It is good to see her looking so much better when
I visit again.

The staff at Margaret House are extremely kind and caring. The food is good and there are sufficient activities to keep the residents occupied. Since my dad has developed a bowel problem, they have been very good about keeping him and his room clean.

My father was here and was treated with total respect. The care staff could not have done more for him or me visiting almost daily. The activities were very good, especially music, entertainment and dance. This really stimulates someone with dementia. The cleanliness was outstanding, like a hotel. This
home is like a huge family where residents and their families are welcome all the time.

My father was a resident in Philomena, the dementia unit at Margret House, for two years before his death last month. He was very well cared for by the staff during his stay. The home itself was relatively new, bright and airy. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen/dining areas, where the residents
would congregate, were very welcoming. There was a very well kept garden for residents and visitors to enjoy. The staff, in particular, make this care home what it is - a warm, caring environment where I was very happy to have my father stay for the last two years of his life.

First impression when entering the reception area, there is a very welcoming feeling, no unpleasant smells and a homely environment. The lounge, sunroom and bedroom are equally clean and fresh smelling and it is always a pleasure to visit my mother there.
The garden is very attractive and a great
bonus, especially as my mother, loves being outside. The staff are all very kind and have time to be with the residents, there seem to be a good variety of activities and I am very pleased I chose Margaret House.

Nice old building which is well cared for. Interior decoration is good, clean light, airy no bad smells.
The staff are happy caring, thoughtful and genuine. Management performs well and acts appropriately. Overall happy, caring environment, small enough to have a family feeling, a nice garden with
a sunny outlook. Good health visits Dr and nurses.
Good activities to get people involved. Room clean and pleasant 10/10 for effort.

Relaxed nobody makes you rush. Always warm enough. All the staff are kind and helpful. Very well kept gardens lovely to enjoy sitting in always welcome to join in all activities but privacy is respected immaculate cleanliness.
Lots of cups of tea and biscuits cake in the afternoon. Great communication
with friends and relatives when poorly. Lots of varied activities available.

I have visited Margaret House a few times now the most recent being today for a Dementia information session. The staff are so welcoming and the atmosphere in this care home is lovely. Very clean home, with lovely gardens.

We placed our aunt in the care of Margaret House 4 years ago when we moved into the area. We visited a lot of Residential Care homes before selecting one and this was by far the best in the area. The staff are very solicitous and they know my aunt well. Not only are my aunt's physical needs met,
but her mental and emotional needs are too. The care has been brilliant and we have not been disappointed with it. If we have concerns we mention it and the issues are addressed immediately.

I have been a resident of this care home for about 15 months. Right from the very beginning, I have felt very happy, safe in an excellent home. You couldn't wish for better staff and carers. The home is like a hotel and our wish is their command. Whatever one's problem or illness etc they are always
there for you, to sort it out.


As far as I am concerned it is perfect and the residents are treated with care and respect. I love it!

Margaret House has been in my husband's family since 1971 and our ethos has always been that we treat every resident as if they were a beloved member of our own family.


I am proud to be part of the 2nd generation of the Kelly family managing our family run home. I take extremely seriously my responsibility for ensuring that we continue to provide the same care and attention to our residents that we always have in a warm, happy, safe and secure environment.


My team and I are here to answer any initial questions you may have and, should you choose Margaret House as your new home, to support and guide you through every step of the initial move to ensure that you are able to quickly and happily settle in. We are then all here for you and your family at every step in the future.
