Rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission (December 2018), Prince Michael of Kent Court is a purpose-built facility located cloase to the town centre in Watford.

The Home has assistive technology to help engage and entertain residents. A specialist reminiscence garden and lighting is also available to reduce “sundowning,” promoting calmness and providing reassurance.

The Home is divided into five ‘family style’ house group areas, each with their own team of care staff. Each house group has its own comfortable dining room and communal lounge.

Respite care provided for two weeks following ahead injury and loss of sight.
First class care and environment, however, no facilities to cope with blindness which proved frustrating in the evenings when fellow residents went to bed or to watch TV.

Mom went into the home in April. The staff are very kind and helpful and willing to do anything asked of them. There is always something going on for the residents in a very relaxed atmosphere. The family are so pleased that Mom is safe and well and looked after. Thank you.

I am delighted with the level of care my father receives at Prince Michael of Kent Court. From our initial enquiry, preliminary visits and the application process to when my father moved in, everything was conducted with the utmost professionalism and kindness.
The home is extremely well staffed.
Everyone is courteous and there is a very positive, friendly atmosphere. Staff have the time to spend with each and every resident (and their visitors!) and consequently, they know them very well indeed. Nothing is too much trouble.
There is a full program of activities for residents and excellent support from the Association of Friends who hold regular additional events to which friends and family are invited. This all adds to the feeling of a community in which every member is valued.
Communication between staff and family is good and I can relax because I know that my father is being cared for in the best possible way, in the best possible place, by the best possible people.

Prince Michael of Kent Court is a care home in every sense. My father is cared for in every way. He makes few demands but his needs are met. He is treated with respect and when support is needed, it is done in an unobtrusive and dignified manner. The staff are kind and make us feel part of a family
in dad's home.
Management is responsive to requests. Staff go out of their what to allay any concerns we may have and never make me feel I am a nuisance. We are so happy dad is in this home.

My mother has been at Prince Michael of Kent Court for two and a half years to date and has had excellent care throughout that time. She is calm and comfortable thanks to the dedicated staff team and the care they give her. She was a hundred years old in February and the Activities Organiser arranged
a really splendid birthday party for her, which was shared with all the residents and everyone had a most enjoyable afternoon. The following day the Activities Organiser managed a birthday lunch for Mother's family members and all her guests were made to feel so welcome. Everyone commended the excellent facilities provided by the home in a light and airy environment with friendly, caring and welcoming staff members.

Overall, this is a very good care home indeed. Much attention is paid to the security and well-being of the residents, and the general attitude of the staff is friendly, helpful and cooperative. Several are quite outstanding in their concern and care, but I have seen none fall short of the desired standard.
Food is plentiful, and generally of a high standard both in quality and presentation. Facilities are rarely used by my parent, who prefers her own company, but seems to be varied and much appreciated by others. I really have no negative comments, and can unhesitatingly recommend this home.

They are a delightful team of carers, always happy and smiling, watchful and with the utmost patience. Nothing is too much trouble. My husband often asks to see my car and sometimes a member of staff at the desk will come out with him to wave me off. Then divert his attention and gently take him back
indoors. Other times, the carers have to contend with - and overcome - my husband's stubbornness about such things as going in the shower or having his nails cut.

All the staff here are so caring. They have looked after my mother for many years. The manager comes up with some very innovative ideas. From an overgrown garden made into a 50's street. The staff not only look after my mother, they also support myself and siblings. The home is a joy.

I am very happy with the standard of care and support provided. I am constantly amazed at how pleasant and jolly the carers are. I had looked at several care homes before choosing this one and it was immediately clear that the standard of this one was much higher. The costs were more-or-less comparable.

My mother has lived in the care home for just over one year, during which time her dementia has worsened. Assessment of her needs is performed regularly by staff who are trained in dementia care. They are always kind, patient and know how she has been when I visit.

Prince Michael of Kent Court has Super staff, who are caring and enthusiastic. They try to accommodate all needs. They have a great entertainment teamwork who constantly lay on an interesting interactive programme. The staff maintain a calm welcoming and caring attitude to both the residents and their
family and friends. Staff remain calm despite some of the residents with dementia having their own challenging behaviours.
Our family is delighted to have found Prince Michael of Kent Court for our mother. We are relieved that she has settled there and that she is looked after so well. We are very thankful to the whole team.

My mother has been a resident here for about three years and I have visited often. I feel completely confident that she is very well looked after and provided for, in fact, I can't think of a better place she could be at this stage of her life (at age 98 with early dementia). The duty managers are always
clued up about her condition, and always call me if there's something to report. I'm welcome to visit any time and they have always accommodated my requests for access or information. At the end of the day, she's as happy there as I can imagine her being, and have no complaints whatsoever.

Making a decision of placing a loved one in any Care Home is always difficult but we found at Prince Michael of Kent Court every effort was made for our Mum to feel home from home.
Prince Michael of Kent Court maintains a very high standard of care and dignity for the Residents. Their individual needs
are well catered for. There is always a warm welcome in a spacious and airy lounge to spend time with mum. Staff encourage Residents to join in with daily activities ranging from simple games, arts and crafts, flower arrangement, music, afternoons tea parties, BBQs in the beautiful gardens and plenty more. Relatives are welcome to join in. There is a good ratio of staff on duty including weekends. Good in-house catering to suit individual needs and with prior notice, we have been able to have a meal with mum where staff set a table just for two. The staff are incredibly well trained and quick in requesting medical advice. We give credit to the Management and every member of staff at Prince Michael of Kent Court for all their efforts in looking after our Mum.

I have been at the home nearly three years. The room is very comfortable and my bed os comfortable. I have my own toilet and washroom. The bathrooms and showers have recently been refurbished. There is very little disturbance at night. All the staff are very kind and helpful. The meals are satisfying.
Various activities are arranged and there is a monthly programme of events. There are lovely gardens to sit in and 3 ducks provide entertainment. There Friends Association organise outings and family events. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming.
