Wisden Court is a purpose-built 54 bedroom care home in Stevenage. This spacious home is comprised of five individual residential suites each with its own lounge, dining room and fully equipped kitchenette. Wisden Court provides expert care for older people, including those living with dementia.

Wisden Court strives to create a homely environment and provide all the comforts of good food, good company and friendly staff, in a calm and restful atmosphere. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished with en-suite wet room facilities and all rooms have 32” televisions mounted on the wall.

The home also has excellent amenities, including comfortable lounges in which residents can relax. In addition, there is a dedicated area for dementia care, designed to enable the residents cared for to maintain their independence in a safe environment.

The activity programme ensures that residents remain stimulated and engaged and their Wellbeing Lead takes into account residents' hobbies, needs and interests. The activities at Wisden Court are varied and alongside enjoying themselves, residents can receive a wide range of health and fitness benefits from taking part.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, there are also three enclosed gardens all of which are easily accessible including wheelchair users.

My mother has recently been taken in. The help and care that we and her have been given has been wonderful.
The staff are happy and caring, a credit to their profession.

This is not my mums first visit in fact she has been cared for here at least three visits but they total about 12 weeks. So I do feel qualified to say that mum has been cared for very well her emotional and care needs were met and exceeded. The home has had a makeover and this has improved the surroundings
but the same quality of happy caring staff do a fabulous job and I've noticed an increase of activities for service users and my mum who has dementia came out very happy and animated it really improved her mental mood. Well done to the managers and the team! Thank you!

Generally no complaints. However would appreciate more continuity of care, my mother just gets used to the main carer after 3 days on duty then that carer is off for 3 days and a new carer has to take over, this is confusing for mum who has dementia. Mum has expressed the wish to have one to one conversations
with carers, this doesn't happen very often and in fact never when a "stand in" carer takes over. While senior member of caring staff are away, the younger stand-ins have been plaiting each others hair! Residents don't seem to be asked what they want to watch on TV find it's what the carer wants to watch in some cases.

My Mother-in-Law who suffers from vascular dementia and has limited mobility, is currently staying at Wisden Court as a temporary resident. Her stay has needed to be extended twice, a process that is usually painful due to the multiple phone calls that need to be made. The senior manager at Wisden Court
has given us so much assistance and made the process simple and uncomplicated, she is amazing and so dedicated to her residents. She is obviously excellent at her job as Wisden Court is well organised and wonderfully welcoming.
The care given by all staff is no less that the equivalent of the love given by our family. My Mother-in-Law is flourishing, her communication skills have improved because the surroundings of Wisden Court stimulate her. Most importantly, even with her limited ability to communicate today, my Mother-in-Law said: "This is a lovely place".
She is happy at Wisden Court, and that is all that matters, I only hope we can get her a permanent residency here.

Mum was resident at Wisden Court for six months. The staff are all outstanding. The care mum received especially during the last few weeks of her life, was professional, dignified and loving. We were so pleased she was able to pass away peacefully in a place we always considered her home among st people
who really cared for her. The carers who looked after mum loved and respected her and mum loved them. As relatives we were always made very welcome and also felt like part of the "family". We were well looked after and supported. Really can't find fault with this lovely, friendly, homely place.

My father who has just died, aged 93, has been in care home for 5 years. I have only good memories of my fathers stay there. What lovely friendly carers. His last five years are a trip to Southend, parties, singsongs. Lovely Christmas and birthday cakes. The food at this home was **** stars and my dad
liked his food!! His room was always clean and tidy and my dad was always clean and tidy too, my sisters and i were always welcomed at this home. I have only praise for these hard working and dedicated carers.

Mum has been a resident for five months, initially in respite care, and then in permanent care. The help we received from the manager in getting her into permanent care was first-class. Mum's daily care needs are well met and she is settled and happy. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, and treat
the resident's with dignity. Mum enjoys the food, which looks delicious. (the cakes are wonderful!) Staff are easy to approach with any concerns, and feedback on issues is generally good.

My mum has been a resident at Wisden Court for more than a year. She was immediately made welcome and I feel she was valued as a person. I was initially concerned about "putting her in a home" although she had lived with use for 6 years. At 98 years old I was worried she would not accept her new place
of living. I need not have worried.
She always says "It's very nice here." or "It's always clean." or "Everyone is very kind." or "The food is always good". These are just a few comments. If mum is happy, which she seems to be, then so am I.
She enjoys outings, visiting her hairdresser, and many other in house social activities. She always looks smart and well dressed. I believe excellence starts at the top, so many thanks to the manager for leading the care team, and providing an excellent environment where excellent care can flourish.

I find Wisden a very homely, caring environment. My mother seems very content and happy. Whenever I visit she is dressed well, clean and presentable. Sometimes there is no carer in sight in her unit which is a little worrying. Mostly the carers are very good, more consistency would be good, as Mum gets
used to people, but they regularly get moved etc. The home is looking a bit tired and untidy, but is being refurbished, so will wait to see results. Rooms are clean.

My mother has been a resident for about 18 months. The staff are very caring and mum is happy there. If my sisters or I ever have any concerns they are dealt with swiftly. The carers are of top quality and put the needs of the residents their top priority.
The building is showing it's age but is undergoing
an update at the moment.
