Still very happy with the care Mum receives, the twice-a-day activities are varied to encourage all residents to become involved, the menu choice is good and written up where it can be clearly seen, hot and cold drinks flow freely throughout the day along with neverending snacks. The staff in all areas
are friendly and welcoming, Mum's room is always clean and looks homely with all her family pictures on the wall. I can sleep easy knowing she is in a caring environment. I continue to visit several times a week on different days and times and on occasions, enjoyed a dinner with Mum.

I am completely satisfied with my mum's care at Blackwater Mill Residential Home. She is well looked after and always well dressed. She is well fed and the menu board shows she can choose what to eat. Her room is very comfortable and my overall impression is of a clean and tidy environment. The staff
are friendly, caring and attentive to Mum's needs (and those of other residents I observe when visiting). Mum is happy living at Blackwater and regards it as home.

Blackwater Mill is a large care home and the staff are always welcoming and cheerful. It is always clean inside. The residents are kept mobile and stimulated with lots of activities taking place daily in the three lounges. The bedrooms are adequate with the bonus of ensuite toilets. Laundry is done
daily and all the medical needs are met. My only concern is that some hot meals have arrived at the table cold. Food and drink are plentiful.

I have been a regular visitor to Blackwater Mill with my dog, providing pet therapy to those living within the care home. I have seen so much positive change over the past 6 months since the new manager came and each time I visit I see new changes that help those living within the care home.
The staff
are so friendly and welcoming and are always there to help anyone who needs them. The staff team seem bonded to provide the best care they can. It’s a pleasure to visit the home and provide an activity that brings so much joy to those living with dementia.

My partner has been at the home for 4 months, it took him a while to settle in, but now he seems to love it.
Staff are caring, kind and patient, and I'm always made to feel welcome.
Food is good, but a choice of small or larger portions would suit the different appetites of the residents.
There are
lots of activities available to keep residents occupied.
The lounges and gardens are really nice, weather permitting.

Many thanks for your lovely comments. In relation to the portion sizes this is done away from the dining area when meals are being served in the kitchen. Meals are plated in small, normal and large servings depending on the preference, needs of the individual and what is on the menu. Over the past months, every time I visit my mother there is always a helpful member of staff not too far away. My mother always seems very content, always someone nearby to talk to. Very happy with her room, looks always clean and tidy including her washroom. I have noticed on the menu board, a good
choice of meals available. Her washing is always attended to, plenty of clean clothes. On the whole Blackwater Mill Residential Home is a good caring home. Well pleased.

It took a few weeks for Mum to settle but throughout that time I knew she was being looked after and that her concerns were being addressed.
She is now content, getting involved and is finally putting on weight.
There is a lovely atmosphere at Blackwater Mill and the staff are brilliant!

My 1 year review. My mum has now been in Blackwater Mill for a year and I could not be happier. Sadly Mum is not as active as she was, but that does not stop the staff from getting her to join in with the activities. The lovely lady who arranges the entertainment is great with Mum and tries to get her
to play bingo and go to the lounges to listen to music etc. I visit Mum 2-3 times a week and am always greeted with a smile from the office when I arrive. The hostesses keep everyone topped up with tea, coffee and juice including myself between meals and also biscuits. The food is well prepared and varied and the kitchen staff do a great job. The care team keep Mum clean and tidy and the hairdresser comes in twice a week to keep the ladies looking good. I know in my heart that the care she receives here in Blackwater Mill is fantastic and I would like to personally thank all the staff for all they do, not just for Mum but for all the residents.

I am highly delighted with your new entertainment organiser. He is very attentive to all the residents and will encourage the quieter ones to join in activities. Mum has trouble hearing and he will help her understand what is happening. She went on a tea and cake trip with him and another member of

Occasionally life throws up real challenges with elderly relatives and you always hope someone will be there to help. Such was the circumstance when my sister had an accident whilst visiting a relative and taking a fall which broke her wrist. The Local Authority refused any help in her home area and
the family had to resolve respite care ourselves. This is where Blackwater Mill Residential home stepped into the breach and offered short notice support on a residential basis. I cannot express how grateful we are for the supportive and helpful team at the home who did everything they could to make my relative comfortable and safe over the period of her stay. Whilst very few of us would prefer to be unable to be in our own homes it is nice to know there are those out there who will support and help when these circumstances arise, grateful thanks to all at Blackwater Mill.

My stepfather was admitted to the home on January 23rd from hospital. They were helpful in giving him a bigger room, but since then the home has deteriorated. The food is mostly cold when delivered. His room is often grubby on the floor. They seem to be short-staffed as he says he doesn't see many about
now. We have requested a hearing test, but as yet, it hasn't happened.

Was a very welcoming experience. All the staff were very friendly especially the activities lady who was brilliant. All the residents really enjoyed the activities she had organised and was very nice to see the residents laughing and having a good time.

A lovely morning reminiscing with Dad over some lovely old photos brought in by a lady. Dad was very interested and seemed to remember some things. Was lovely to see. We particularly like the young activities girl who is so very good with all the clients; very patient and caring and Dad's favourite.
She really deserves a medal. Things have greatly improved since she started.

Grateful for full-time care. Clothes - not often wearing his own. He moves/loses things. Rarely appropriately dressed to go out. Pants/incontinence pads/pants - when picked up to go out rarely the right pants, with pads, sometimes nothing - he now wees without thought. It makes me nervous and taking
him out is difficult. The young staff - lovely though they are, do not use common sense. When he's going out. sometimes with slippers, wet, cold etc.

Fantastic home, I couldn't ask for a better place for my friend to stay, the staff are lovely and the amount of activities they have going on there is amazing. The home is well laid out and the grounds are breathtaking. My friend also enjoys the number of animals there are around the home.

Whenever I have visited my aunt she always appears to be well cared for. She is no longer mobile and conversation is difficult I, therefore, find visiting quite difficult. All the staff I have seen seem to be very caring and engage with her in a very compassionate and sensitive manner. Communication
with the home is very good and I feel I am informed whenever it is required.

I live on the mainland so am not able to visit that often. I last visited in May this year and I found her clean and well cared for and she seems to be given plenty of tea which is most important to her. She eats well and enjoys the food. She isn't mobile and spends most of the time in bed so there
is little else that can be done for her. Her room is very bland and not at all cheerful but I don't think she notices.
Would you please direct all correspondence regarding my mother's health to me not my sister as my sister only deals with her finances. Thank you.

Visited my dear mum, and it was a lovely afternoon, so we were able to sit outside, which was wonderful. Mum came down with help and was really pleased to see us. The carers were very good and very obliging, and I could see that my mum is looked after well, which is so important both for her, of course,
and for us leaving her there. So a very big thank you to everyone at Blackwater Mill.
