The care and kindness my husband receives at Brighstone Grange has been exceptional.
The food is excellent and nothing is too much bother for the staff who do everything in their power to ensure the residents are all happy and comfortable.
Brighstone Grange is a warm, comfortable, clean, positive
environment and the standard of cleanliness is very high. "5 stars."

My mum has been happy at the home from the day she moved in.
Safety and safeguarding are taken very seriously by the staff, we have no worries about her being kept safe.
My mum is treated with respect and dignity at all times.
The staff take time to listen to my mum and know her likes and dislikes
very well, especially related to her diet and her love of singing. Staff facilitate my mum joining an external community choir every week. The choice of diet is good considering the challenges of a special diet.
The housekeeping team is dedicated and committed to providing a healthy environment.
My mum's care is highly personalised.
Communication is good with an effective management team leading a strong team of staff. It should be acknowledged that reference to staff in this review includes night staff.
When we visit we are always greeted with a smile and offered refreshments. Thank you.
This is a real gem of a care home with well-trained, caring, and organised staff.

The staff at Brighstone Grange are so lovely not only to my mumma but also to all family and friends who visit at the home.
They always offer to help or make a cup of tea etc. Mum absolutely adores all staff at Brighstone, she loves them like family which is really special!
They have an activity
calendar with a different activity every single day which is amazing and impressive, especially for Mum who is a younger resident. The home is lovely, always clean and tidy, Mum's room and washing are also kept clean and tidy also. The food always smells delicious and Mum loves, so that's a good sign! Management to housekeeping staff, everyone is friendly and always up for having a laugh with Mum, which she really needs. Thank you guys so, so much!

My aunt has resided at the Grange in Brighstone since December 2023.
She did not want to leave her home but her health had deteriorated necessitating more care than could be provided at home.
She settled really well but had a few ‘blips’ where she asked to go home and didn’t want to stay.
However,
I am delighted that she seems now to be content. She is a private person who likes her own company but she spends all her time in the lounge with others.
I find the staff really pleasant, respectful and kind. Nothing seems to be too much trouble and they create a warm, friendly and happy environment for all residents, despite some challenging behaviour at times! My aunt seems to be very grateful to all carers and I am so pleased for the warm welcome I am always given.
I couldn’t speak more highly of the surroundings in which my aunt lives, her bedroom is always spotlessly clean as are all areas. The food always smells and looks delicious.
Thank you very much.

My father has been living at Brighstone Grange for over 2 years now and he really enjoys living there, finding the staff extremely supportive and helpful and the food is always good.
I find the staff to be really nice and they really care about my father and always keep me informed if there are
any problems with his health. I am very happy with Brighstone overall. It is set in a lovely location and nothing is too much for them.
I would like to see more entertainment in the home for the residents as they seem to spend a lot of their time not doing much and it would be nice if they could go out or have more people come in to entertain them.

Thanks for your response, Julie, I'm delighted that your experience has been so positive. Your feedback regarding the activities offered at Brighstone is welcome; I will pass it on to the team. The Vital staff have put together and activities plan for August, which is on top of the outings and religious services which people are supported to attend. They have also started devising our activities wall so there will be visual photographs of the activities we do in the hallway alongside the activity planner so families can see what we do. Thank you again for your feedback, it's always welcome and helps us to improve where we need to! Ian

I have always found the staff friendly, caring and helpful. The choice of meals is very adequate and drinks are brought round regularly.
My mother is always treated kindly and with dignity relating to personal care.
It would be nice if there were more activities available and musical afternoons
or events.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.342)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.342) out of 10 for Brighstone Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.642 for Brighstone Grange is calculated as follows: ( (56 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (2 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.642

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brighstone Grange is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
