The staff, managment team and entertainment lady are truly wonderful people as the residents are themselves. Really pleased we have been able to get back to the Dementia choir in Freshwater, which used to be the highlight of our week and is so again. My wife went to busy bees yesterday it's something
she really needs rather than sitting in all the time.

My partner has been in this care home for over three years now. I have three visits per week. She is settled and content in her own world. Well cared for, respected and loved by many staff.

An incredible oasis of care. The carers are all compassionate and nothing is too much for them. The care administered to my wife is exceptional. Her food is exactly what she needs and presented exactly as is required. Currently, my wife is on a soft diet as she does not digest her food properly.
Westview
is a beacon of light for those suffering from Dementia and their family.

My grandmother is currently a resident and overall I feel happy with the care home. Cons - My only criticism would be the lack of entertainment. I have never witnessed anyone doing any sort of activity with my grandma unfortunately. The staff at Westview, although extremely knowledgeable and very kind
are sometimes hampered by language barriers. It is sometimes difficult to understand some members of staff but that does not detract from the care received. Pros- Although the meals appear very samey (most likely because it's a soft diet) the food is very tasty and well presented. The manager is extremely passionate and often goes above and beyond for residents and families. She is always happy to resolve any issues and is so dedicated to making Westview a safe and homely place for our relatives. I would without a doubt recommend Westview to anyone thinking of residential care for their loved ones.

My mother has been living at Westview for 1.5 years and considering her disabilities and being confined to bed, she seems very happy most of the time. The manager is an excellent manager and that is reflected in the manner and kindness of the staff who work there. I cannot fault their care and cheerfulness,
always a happy word accompanied by smiling faces. I'm assured she has lots of company as this is obviously very necessary for someone who can't get out of bed, has poor sight and has little hearing. Visits are the only pleasure Mum can enjoy.

A well-run and organised care home. Staff are very approachable, particularly the manager. All concerns are listened to and solutions are found or at least options explored. The care home is clean, and the laundry is immaculate with no lingering unpleasant smells. The meals are very good, although I
would like to see more choices for individuals with swallowing difficulties. Staff are approachable and friendly but in my opinion, too little is organised to entertain clients, abled and non-communicative individuals. I also think it is very difficult for clients to understand many carers, as English is often not their first language. The manager is an asset to this home, showing commitment, empathy and integrity.

I am Power of Attorney but also daughter of the resident. I live in Germany. My English is not very good anymore as I only speak it when on the island. I try to visit Mummy every 2 months. When on the Island I am usually with Mummy for 5-6 hours a day, which is not a problem for the carers. Not only
do they care excellently for Mummy, they also make me feel welcome. All thoughts concerning Mummy are treated respectfully. Any problems are sorted as soon as possible - if possible. At the moment Mummy cannot stay in the lounge for several reasons (too loud, too strenuous), so she is in her room a lot. We (family and care home) are all still trying to find a solution so that she is not too lonely. The meals are very good. Everything is spotlessly clean and I have never come across such well-looked-after laundry.
The manager is an 'angel', always looking for contact to her clients and making sure they are looked after. She is always willing to help, no matter at what time, where or whom.

My brother has been a resident in this care home for several years. Their care of him is excellent, caring and compassionate. The manager is great and very patient, as are all the other staff. His room is comfy and very suitable for him. His needs and preferences are always considered. The communication
with me is very good and their response to questions I have is always prompt. They arrange for him to have trips out too.
I don't hesitate in recommending this home.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.503)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.503) out of 10 for Westview House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.703 for Westview House is calculated as follows: ( (69 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 91 Ratings = 4.703

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Westview House is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 38 registered maximum number of service users is 7.6, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
