The care that mum receives at Bowercroft is second to none. I can completely rely on them to see to all her needs in a joyfully and respectfully way. It always cheers me up when I visit. Bowercroft is a warm, friendly and loving home for loved ones. She receives so much better care than I could ever
give.

My aunt has Alzheimer's and was living at home alone. Her condition deteriorated significantly a couple of months ago and I had to get her admitted to hospital due to being dehydrated. We then had to take the decision to get her into a care home as she could no longer care for herself. We found Bowercroft
on the internet and she has been there since the beginning of September. We are genuinely over the moon about the quality of care she now receives and the beautiful home she is in. It is so modern and homely and more like a posh retirement home! The staff are outstanding and the manager is one in a million. It is simply just perfect for my aunt.

I went to Bowercroft straight from hospital. It was difficult at first both for me and the staff because my problems are more physical than mental and they are used to dealing with dementia and associated difficulties, whereas I found it frustrating albeit we soon adjusted and they were wonderful in
every sense of the word they treated me with utmost care and concern. I moved only because I have a close friend who has had a stroke and a friend found a place for us to be together because she needs nursing care and Bowercroft has no registered nurses. I have the highest regard for the manager and staff at Bowercroft.

At last, my wife and I can now relax knowing that her father and my mother are in very safe and caring hands. We can now go away on holiday knowing that they are being looked after by the fabulous staff at Bowercroft where nothing is too much for them. My father in law who was never one for joining
into a conversation is now first on the microphone for the fortnightly sing along I could hardly believe my eyes, it is really lovely to see him joining in. My mother who is 97 has been there for just a few months but has settled in and is enjoying the company of others.
We are both happy that the decision to place them into care and the choice of Bowercroft has proved to be totally the right one.

Bowercroft is a wonderful care home. My friend moved in August 2018 and I cannot praise the management and staff enough, they really care for not only my friend but all the residents.
It is a small home that really seems like someones home and you are made welcome at any time.
If I ever needed care
this would be the place that I would want to go to.

After looking at many homes for my mother in the area, Bowercroft stood out above and beyond all the others.
The home is always clean and tidy, the staff at all levels are attentive and engaging with the residents, always approachable and happy to discuss any aspect of her care and wellbeing with me,
nothing appears to be too much trouble.
Mother's appetite has vastly improved, appearance and general health seems better since moving in.
She is happy to have her hair done weekly now, previously she had refused to have her hair done for some time.
Knowing that Mother is in such a well run, safe and caring environment is a great reassurance and I would be happy to recommend Bowercroft to anyone.

My Mother-in-law has been a resident for 21 months. I have been extremely impressed by the standard of care given at Bowercroft. The team has strong leadership and all staff members are professional, caring, and fun, a balance which is very hard to achieve. My mother in law is very happy there and
her physical and mental well being has improved since she has been a resident. We as a family can relax knowing our loved one is safe and being well cared for.

My father moved into Bowercroft two months ago. It was a difficult decision but he has settled in well and the staff and management have been very reassuring and supportive.
Nothing is too much trouble and all the staff are kind and caring.
Bowercroft gives a happy and caring atmosphere and I cannot
fault anything.

My elderly aunt (95) has been resident at Bowercroft for over one year now. I have found the home and staff to be excellent in all respects. Visiting several care homes for my aunt, I felt Bowercroft's caring attitude and professional approach, as soon as I entered the building. The staff do a sometimes
difficult job in trying circumstances, but I have always found them to be exemplary. I would definitely recommend Bowercroft to any person enquiring of my experience and have indeed done so already.

In 2016 we found ourselves having to look at homes for dad as our late step mum was unable to care for him.
My sister and I looked at several homes and liked the feeling of Bowercroft the minute we stepped through the door. All the residents are well cared for and happy and we liked the family atmosphere.
It’s a smaller home which we felt was right for dad and Bowercroft became his new home.
The staff and manager look after dad and all the residents in a very caring, safe and professional way. We are kept informed of concerns and changes. It’s very hard to let go of the reins and let somebody else take care of your loved one but we know dad is in the best possible place.
The food is good, the house is clean and nicely decorated Dad enjoys the music man who comes regularly to sing and has discovered a love of dancing. There is a very pretty garden to sit in during the warmer weather too.
Would thoroughly recommend this delightful home.

Management excellent. Staff are excellent. Can't fault anything. We were very worried about putting mum into care. You hear and see things in the papers and TV you don't know what to do for the best. I am 69 and my husband is 75 and we felt we couldn't cope. We looked at 20+ care homes and this was
the best. Wonderful.

Mum desperately needed care following the passing of my Father 5 years earlier and her increasing dementia. The strain was growing on the family with frequent visits from family and care workers. Mum was against going into care but was constantly stressed by the world around her. Following an accident,
the family made the hard decision that mum must go into care. We chose Bowercroft and they had a spare place. The staff worked discreetly with us to put everything in place for mum’s arrival. On the day we all told mum and to our surprise, mum was delighted, we think she was scared of making a decision, two hours later, she was walking into Bowercroft, within an hour sitting down and munching through a plate of sandwiches! We visited again that evening and found her happily chatting with a new group of friends! Bowercroft and the staff are wonderful, mum now looks 10 years younger, a huge weight has been lifted from her and our shoulders, I cannot praise Bowercroft enough.

The carers give 100% of their time, no matter what I ask them to do, to tend to my needs, I am very appreciative. Even helping me put on my stockings which is a very difficult thing to do. They are all so patient. Thank you.

Since my mum arrived she has seemed less tired, and in less pain. Her general health has improved because she is so well looked after and is no longer isolated or afraid. I can now rest easy knowing she is in such a lovely 'homely' home.

Mum has been resident at Bowercroft for 8 months. She loved it at first and received a warm welcome from everyone. After a few days, she became subdued and quite hostile towards the staff and unwilling to socialise with the residents. The team shared that this can be quite normal as it can take a bit
of time to settle in. They were caring, patient and understanding. They didn't make Mum do anything she didn't want to and respected her request to be alone. But made sure she was well cared for and that someone frequently popped in to make sure she was alright. After 3 months Mum got into a bit of a rhythm and seemed more content. However, the team were keen to see her not just 'okay' but happy there. Eight months later I can say that Mum is now really happy. She has her hair done weekly (she refused to have it done for many months) and is happy to be assisted with personal hygiene. She mixes with the other residents and often comes out to sit in the public lounge and seems relaxed and content in there.

I have the highest praise for all of the staff, they do a wonderful job. At home Mum began to experience high anxiety, with regular visits in and out of hospital, and was unable to care for herself in any way. She then had a diagnosis of vascular dementia. The staff are very experienced and understanding.
After a few weeks, the improvement in her well-being was evident. Mum is always clean and has started to get her appetite back again and has even put on some weight. My mum is now happy and well looked after. To be able to spend time with Mum and to hear her laugh again I really cannot put into words. There was a point where I thought I would not hear her laugh or see her smile again. There is a real community feel and, as a family, we feel welcomed at any time. The cleanliness is excellent, as is the quality of food. The garden is absolutely beautiful and well maintained and Mum's room is lovely. As a family, we feel reassured that Mum is safe and as a result, we have peace of mind.

My grandmother has almost been a resident at Bowercroft for a year now. The changes I've seen in the home over the past year have been amazing. The home is always clean and safe and the improvement to the decor has been amazing, especially working around the residents. The staff (all members of staff)
are amazing, they genuinely care for the well-being of my grandmother. The staff work tirelessly to occupy and stimulate the residents - activities that I know my grandmother enjoys. It's lovely to see my grandmother with beautifully coiffed hair and buffed nails. She also always tells me how she enjoys her bubble baths!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.600)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.600) out of 10 for Bowercroft is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Bowercroft is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bowercroft is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 18 registered maximum number of service users is 3.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
