  • Court Regis, Sittingbourne
Court Regis care home, located on the outskirts of Sittingbourne in Kent, is a care facility providing residential care for older people living with dementia.

Court Regis provides a wealth of support services for people living with dementia, with the aim of not just providing care and comfort, but also a new, positive and more engaging stage in their lives. The team of qualified and attentive staff provide 24-hour specialist person-centred dementia care.

The home has several large lounges with windows overlooking either the courtyard garden at the rear of the home or the landscaped garden at the front of the home.

Court Regis has two dining rooms, one larger that can be used for ‘getting together’ and one smaller one for more relaxed and informal dining.

At the heart of Court Regis is its Philosophy of Care, The Eden Alternative, where social interaction and engagement are encouraged and boredom is eradicated by addressing the ‘three plagues’; loneliness, helplessness and boredom within the home.

Court Regis has been recognised and included in the exclusive Eden Alternative registry of care homes.

After much research and visiting care homes in my area, I chose to place my mother, who has mixed dementia in Court Regis in August. Of course you are always worried if it will meet your expectations. On a day/weekly basis, I must say I am very relieved that they do (and more!). I visit often at various
times of the day, there are always plenty of staff/entertainment happening. All staff are lovely compassionate and caring. Well done Court Regis, five star.

The staff and management of Court Regis treat all their residents as members of their own family, with love, respect and empathy. My mother is the fourth family member to have resided at Court Regis and no other home will ever be considered.

My mum has been in Court Regis for the past 18 months since having a double stroke which left her with dementia. The whole time she was there she was very well looked after and always looked clean and well-kept. The staff are both professional and friendly displaying empathy to the residents at all
times. The atmosphere is like one big happy family and we never witnessed the staff treating residents with anything other than respect and kindness. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone especially those with dementia who need a little bit of extra care and understanding.

Helpful, friendly staff who have the interest of residents at heart. The staff I have met try and encourage my mum to eat and have offered on many occasions to bring some of her favourite food items in, above and beyond.

Reply from Frances Lake, Customer Support Officer at Court Regis

Thank you for your comments; we are pleased that you are happy with the care given to your mum at Court Regis. We note you have only given two stars regarding the food offered and I would like to discuss this further with you in order that we can make any improvements necessary to encourage Mum to eat more, we acknowledge this part of her care is very important.

My mother loves all the staff here, she loves that they are on hand if she needs help, she says the food is fantastic and gallops with her walking frame down to the restaurant, so that speaks volumes about how much she loves it. My mother has not taken part in any activities as she prefers to stay in
her room. Hopefully, in time, she will join in. The staff took a group to the pub for Christmas, she loved it.

Since my brother-in-law came into the home in June 2021, I have been impressed by the facilities, the caring nature of the staff and the way the home is maintained. My brother-in-law does have the odd moan about food (he likes curry) but he is generally happy. The activities he enjoys and keeps him
engaged while his use of his iPad and TV controls are a struggle.

I feel my sister is very well looked after. She has complex physical needs and the staff are very good and patient with her as she gets upset quickly. When we see her she always seems happy and smiling and is always praising the carers and the manager.

Mum going into a care home was a worrying experience for us all, but in the short time Mum has been at Court Regis care home, we had no reason to worry. The care is excellent, nothing is too much trouble whenever I call or attend. The place is spotless, and Mum is happy, warm, well-fed and most importantly
happy,.

My friend has been with you for just over three years. In all that time, all the staff from management to cleaners have made the place not only spotless but a more caring place that would be very hard to find. It's just like one big family. Nothing is too much, they make sure everyone feels a valued
person in their own right.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.989)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.989) out of 10 for Court Regis is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for Court Regis is calculated as follows: ( (61 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.833

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.156 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Court Regis is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 54 registered maximum number of service users is 10.8. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.8 = 0.556

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
