Cumbria House is a residential Care Home and is located in Folkestone within a very attractive and quaint area. It is close to the Town Centre and nearby amenities include the famous Leas, a raised cliff top promenade and Folkestone Harbour.

Cumbria House is a large extended building with three floors which was constructed in the 1930s and has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme throughout to preserve the character of the building. This Home is set in its own grounds with the benefit of lovely rear gardens which the residents can enjoy.

Staff promote independence at all times, giving assistance as required to maintain an excellent standard of living, with emphasis on dignity, integrity and respect providing a homely and caring environment giving each resident the choices that each of us have in daily lives.

The home is staffed with adequately trained professionals over the 24 hour period, teaching and training staff to understand the physical and psychological needs of residents so they can care for them in a loving, caring and professional way.

Cumbria House has 29 bedrooms, the majority of which having en-suite facilities. All communal areas and bedrooms are comfortable and have recently been decorated to the highest standards.

Excellent staff, very attentive and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. My Mum enjoyed her respite stay and received excellent care. A very relaxing environment with staff on hand when she required help and activities in the week she enjoyed joining in with.

Kind and caring staff, clean environment. Responsive to any concerns we have had regarding health, medical etc. Encouraging towards my mother to help her maintain as much dignity and ability as her dementia increases. My mother has been a resident of Cumbria House for almost 2 and a half years. I don't live in England so my part in selection of a home was done online. We chose Cumbria House as they rated highly for being caring. On my recent, first, visit I was not disappointed. The staff were welcoming, always smiling
and my observations with their management of some of the more challenging residents showed how caring they are. Residents were treated with dignity, respect and in a sensitive manner. The manager is very approachable, listens to concerns and is quick to take suggestions for improvements on board. My mother is also happy, her hairdresser visits once a week, the kitchen are receptive to her meal requests and she enjoys the twice-weekly exercise classes - an initiative of the current manager. Cumbria House really is a 'care home'. Family and friends are made welcome and a cup of tea is always offered. I returned home from England feeling assured that my mother is being well cared for.

I have found Cumbria House to be very clean and tidy, where all the residents are treated as individuals. The careers are a wonderful team, always happy and smiling and very focused on doing their best. Almost every time I arrive, I can smell lovely food being cooked freshly in the kitchen. Residents
appear happy and look forward to their activities. They seem to lovely the keep-fit exercises, and it's so good to see everyone enjoying themselves.

My father has been a resident for just over two years. The management, senior carer has changed about three times but this manageress is brilliant, she is excellent at her job. The care for my father is extremely good and they all help him with his needs. We have been very pleased with the care he has.
The staff are positive in every way. The rooms are lovely and the management always provides what is needed.

Cumbria House is a small family care home with a maximum of 29 residents. As a small care home, Cumbria House does its best to be a 'home from home' for all its residents, with a very approachable manager and an extremely caring staff. Wherever possible residents are encouraged to eat their home-cooked
meals together in the dining room. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any reasonable time and where this is appropriate, by arrangement with the manager, family members may take residents out for a short excursion or family visit.
Special occasions, such as birthdays, are made a great fuss of. There is a nice garden at the back of the house, all we need now is some warm weather in order to be able to enjoy it!

My mum is in Cumbria House. She has been there for about 6 months. They are such lovely carers and my mum likes all of them. It's not too big of a home so it feels a bit like your own home but with people who do everything for them.

Mum has been here for a couple of years now and loves it. Every member of staff are sympathetic to all mum needs. Mum has taken to staying in her room for most of the time and the staff do all they can to make sure mum's ok and doesn't miss out on anything.

My mother has only been here a short time and so far everything seems to be ok. Just a couple of minor issues. Although we have named my mother's clothes she frequently gets other peoples clothing, including underwear. Also, she tells me that when she is undressed in the evening for bed the carers
can be a little rough. (She is very delicate and fragile.)
