Cumbria House is a residential Care Home and is located in Folkestone within a very attractive and quaint area. It is close to the Town Centre and nearby amenities include the famous Leas, a raised cliff top promenade and Folkestone Harbour.

Cumbria House is a large extended building with three floors which was constructed in the 1930s and has recently undergone a major refurbishment programme throughout to preserve the character of the building. This Home is set in its own grounds with the benefit of lovely rear gardens which the residents can enjoy.

Staff promote independence at all times, giving assistance as required to maintain an excellent standard of living, with emphasis on dignity, integrity and respect providing a homely and caring environment giving each resident the choices that each of us have in daily lives.

The home is staffed with adequately trained professionals over the 24 hour period, teaching and training staff to understand the physical and psychological needs of residents so they can care for them in a loving, caring and professional way.

Cumbria House has 29 bedrooms, the majority of which having en-suite facilities. All communal areas and bedrooms are comfortable and have recently been decorated to the highest standards.

I have visited Mum since Christmas 2018 when she first came here. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The staff are always helpful and friendly. Mum's room is clean and tidy. Today I have come for a general meeting for family and relatives. Everyone is watching Trooping of The Colour, meeting
other residents too.

My mum has been in this, her first care home, for 10 months and has settled in as well as can be expected. Each day is as though it's her first day there, in a confusing, rather than anxious way. She is always clean and tidy. There are a small group of women with similar desires to chat and interact,
who sit together and sometimes do crosswords. This, I feel, is very beneficial to my Mum to keep her stimulated and alert. I assume she joins in with activities but she is unable to remember. Always a good atmosphere.

Overall care of residents is very good with staff generally treating residents with respect and show great care. There has been a very occasional lapse when staff are under extreme pressure, however, any issues raised have been dealt with satisfactorily. Residents are addressed by name and encouraged
to participate in activities and interaction with staff. Visitors are greeted in a friendly manner with no restrictions on visiting times etc.

Mum has been at Cumbria House in Folkestone for over seven years and has been happier there than she has been for many years at home. She's 96 years old and my father has been dead for 14 years. Recently Mum was admitted to hospital with a urine infection and sepsis. The staff at Cumbria House kept
me well informed (in Spain) and welcomed her back with open arms. She couldn't be happier to be back.

Always clean and tidy. Plenty of room/chairs/tables. Residents being entertained by a lady with animals. Staff are polite, rooms are in good order and residents seem chirpy and happy.
