Fairby Grange is a family run home, established in 1978, offering a warm, caring environment for the elderly living with an early stage diagnosis of dementia.

All of the home's staff are highly skilled and carefully selected for their caring nature to maintain high standards of person-centred care, whilst adhering to the objectives of the Care Quality Commission.

Such a fantastic place! My mum is so happy and told me herself that she would recommend Fairby Grange to anyone! She has greatly improved since going to live there, and we feel that we have got our Mum back. She loves all the activities and entertainment and said the food is excellent. She told me everyone
was extremely kind and caring. From our point of view, we know our mum is happy and very well looked after. All the management and staff are very helpful and friendly. Thank you Fairby Grange!

My aunt has been at Fairby Grange for several years now. The care has always been excellent and when there have been problems they have been addressed by the staff very quickly. Being the size Fairby is the staff have a good knowledge of my aunts needs and her funny ways too. I would recommend Fairby
Grange to anyone as I have experienced other homes and they are a cut above with their care and compassion for their patients

Fairby Grange is a lovely home. The rooms are nice sizes with all facilities, the food is good, there are a range of activities for residents as well as on-site hairdressers but most of all the staff are all very caring, welcoming and friendly and really do genuinely care about the residents. My nan
is happy and well looked after at Fairby.

The home is very good and staff are excellent. The facilities are also good. The garden with the pond is pleasant and tranquil and nice for the residents to sit and relax. I don’t have any other comments as I am very pleased with the home.

My mother stayed at the home for a couple of years. As a son living abroad, I always felt relaxed knowing that she was in the qualified hands of the manager and all of the staff there. I chose Fairby Grange, not because it's a spanking new facility but because the first time I visited I felt welcomed.
When my mother went for a short stay, she felt at home and thus a week later moved in permanently. It was not an easy choice to make but I'm glad I made the right one. Mum sadly died this year but she will surely be remembered by all.

We are very pleased with everything the home has to offer and in particular with the care and attention from all the staff at Fairby Grange. Each resident is treated as an individual. The atmosphere is very friendly and there seems to be many activities and a variety of food and meals. Overall, we are
very pleased.

Fairby Grange is a beautiful building situated in a nice location. This is an ideal setting for an elderly person with little additional needs. I would not recommend this setting for Dementia care. The staff are friendly and approachable. I found the management to be uncaring and have poor procedures
and record keeping. I would recommend this home for female residents with no additional needs. My grandfather was one of only three men and the other two male residents did not leave their private room. I feel additional training and understanding of dementia would benefit the management to ensure they can correctly deliver the services they promote.

Reply from Debbie Reeve, Provider at Fairby Grange

Fairby Grange welcomes all feedback as it allows us to gain an insight to relative’s views.
Fairby Grange provides care for both Residential and early onset Dementia providing a wonderful setting for residents to feel safe and supported during their time with us.
To support the care we offer, all staff, including Management, receive thorough training in how to best support residents suffering from Dementia as every resident is unique and has different needs.
We have a dedicated activities coordinator who encourages and supports residents to enjoy their time with us and provide opportunities for all residents to engage and participate in everything we do but understand and respect that some may wish to spend time in their rooms. After all, we want our residents to treat Fairby Grange as their own home, feeling relaxed and safe.

My mother has been at Fairby Grange since May 2019 and we couldn’t fault it. The home is always spotless and the staff are very friendly and caring, nothing is to much trouble for them. My mum has flourished since being there and is always smiling and happy. I would not hesitate to recommend such a
lovely home to anyone.

Staff are generally very good and provide an excellent service to the residents.

This will always vary between carers with the majority of staff having and displaying a genuine caring nature however there is still a minority element that sees it as simply a job and does not display the same care

and concern.

My Great Aunt has resided here since November 2018, I could not be happier with the love and care which she has been shown.
All levels of care are done with dignity and are never too much trouble. I know that my aunt feels very happy and above all safe and loved, her feelings and wishes are taken into
account when making decisions regarding her care moving forward. The staff all have time for the residents and great effort is put into an extensive entertainment program.
I visit nearly every other day and am always greeted with a smile from the staff.
This is the 3rd home my Great Aunt has been in and I'm so glad we have found it.

I am writing this review following a very difficult time as Mum has been very poorly of late. The care, compassion and understanding of all staff members has been truly overwhelming.
The manager has given me hope, hope that Mum will be looked after with kindness and true fondness.

Thank you everyone,

my sister and brother couldn't be happier with Fairby Grange.

The care Mum has received in Fairby Grange has been excellent and both her physical and mental health have improved markedly in the three months she's been there so far. The home has a warm, friendly and calm atmosphere and the manager works tirelessly and with never-ending enthusiasm to ensure the
wellbeing of the residents. The activities co-ordinator arranges an excellent range of events both inside and outside the home. The owner, manager and staff are welcoming, caring and hard working. It is very reassuring to know that Mum is in such good hands and is being looked after so well. Many thanks to all at Fairby Grange.

My father has been at Fairby Grange for 6 months and has been very well looked after. Fairby Grange is a very caring home, where the staff often have a chat and joke with the residents. There are lots of organised activities and trips out in their Mercedes minibus. Many of the staff have worked there
for over 20 years which shows their dedication and commitment to Fairby Grange and the residents. The house is very clean and well organised. I have received very good service from the management; with timely and proactive communication from them; and also a prompt response to my email and telephone requests. I strongly recommend this care home.

I am extremely happy with the care my brother receives at Fairby Grange. I feel their staff could not do more to make my brother happy and comfortable. His every need is cared for and nothing is too much trouble and I feel that at times they have gone far beyond what is expected of them. When my brother
goes through times of depression the manager takes time to sit with him and talk to him to help him feel more positive.

The home is extremely clean, the food is exceptional and staff unbelievably attentive. I feel I must mention the entertainment organiser, who is constantly trying to think of things the residents can do, and places she can take them.

As a family, we have experienced 3 other homes that have been dreadful and where I felt my brother was unsafe therefore we have a lot to compare Fairby with and there is no comparison. I would just like to thank all the Fairby staff and owners for being so kind, caring and thoughtful.

Finding the right home for Nan was a struggle.

After much searching, we finally found this wonderful place, with warm caring staff and excellent facilities. We initially had concerns over how well Nan would fit in, but we needn't have worried as she settled within 2 days, taking part in different

events and activities. She's also been out on day trips to the local garden centre for coffee and cake. A real treat considering she's been housebound for some time. This has only been made possible with the use of a bespoke minibus.

Thanks Fairby, I really appreciate everything you do for Nan.

Mum has been in Fairby Grange since August 2017. Although she has a dementia diagnosis, she is still generally physically fit, very sociable and likes to be active. I am pleased that, considering the wide range of needs and abilities presented by other residents, the staff/management endeavour to fulfil
mum's desire to be occupied as much as possible. The manager even found a local charity shop where mum works as a volunteer for 2 afternoons a week which she greatly enjoys and feels she is still very much participating in and contributing to the 'normal' occupations of life that she's been used to.

I appreciate that working in a care home can be very demanding but have found that the staff have always been helpful and cheerful and appear to seek a good rapport with each resident; I am reassured to have mum within their care and support.

Staff are very caring and wish the residents to feel they are living in their own homes. The activities held to motivate the residents is excellent, from visiting singers, going to a knit and natter club and coffee in the local garden centre. The rooms are very comfortably furnished. I am so happy
I choose Fairby Grange for my mother to move to.

A small family run Care Home, many of the staff have been there for 10 years +, all staff are very friendly, and caring, and I cannot fault any of them. Both of our parents were in the home, unfortunately, Dad died in September, and the care he received in his final days was faultless.
I would highly
recommend this home. We looked at several before deciding, from the minute you walk in, it feels homely, just so glad we found it, just knowing that your loved ones are well cared for. It’s not an easy decision to make putting your parents into a home, but the staff made the process very easy, all the residents are friendly and look out for each other.
One big happy family, thank you.

My mother has been staying at Fairby Grange for 3 months now and every time I visit or speak with her via phone she cannot talk highly enough of the home, staff and care she gets. Nothing is too much trouble and they keep her entertained with various projects, games and if she wants her own quiet time
then that's not a problem either.
Each time I visit the place is clean and fresh and staff always polite and on hand to assist or answer questions. I am kept up to date with any doctor visits and medicines.
I am very impressed with Fairby and would recommend to anyone who asks me about it.

This is the best home by far that I have experience of and since my father was in care with Parkinson's for 10 years, I am confident that this is a really good home for my Mum who has Dementia.
Mum has been there since April 2017 and she is really happy there and that's not just me saying that she
says so herself!
You can see she is well looked after both physically and emotionally.
I visit regularly but always at different times so they never know when I am coming and I can truthfully say that Mum always shows the same level of care and contentment.
The home really goes the extra mile and their activities program really shows how hard they try to give their residents an enjoyable and meaningful life.
This is all great for me as it's wonderful to know that Mum is happy and well cared for. After caring for her myself for 5 years it was hard to hand over her care, but this home has been just what we both needed.
I have peace of mind in the knowledge that she could be in no better place.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.550)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.550) out of 10 for Fairby Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Fairby Grange is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairby Grange is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
