I have nothing but praise for the staff and owners of Fairby Grange. It is a very friendly caring atmosphere for clients and relatives alike. It has a very cosy atmosphere and more like a home from home, which gives a genuinely peaceful feel.
I am more than happy with my father's care and more to the
point so is he.

Fairby Grange is very homely, clean and well kept. Since my mum has been a resident, she has been happy and extremely well taken care of. The staff go above and beyond the call of duty, showing empathy, compassion and respect to all the residents. I am happy that our family chose this home for my mum.

They say that you just know when you have found the right care home for your family member and that was exactly the feeling that we got when my wife and I first visited Fairby Grange. Good care in a homely environment that was so different from the other homes we visited on our quest for "the right
place".

My Mum went to Fairby Grange 2.5 years ago for some respite after a fall at her home. After a couple of weeks she made her own decision to stay.
She has been very happy since, and often comments on how nice the staff are in the main, and how how she likes it there. She is now 90 and we are happy
to see her safe, and well looked after as she could no longer care for herself reliably

Mum had a couple of falls and the staff were very quick to take the appropriate action needed to make sure mum got the treatment she needed to get back to her former self.
Mums not been easy for them as her dementia has been quite bad at times. The staff were amazing and have helped her get back to
a happier place. I don't think she would be the same person had it not been for their support in all her struggles.
Can't thank them enough for all they do for her.

Fairby Grange is a very old Manor House which has a friendly atmosphere. It has a mix of compos mentis residents and those with manageable dementia. I have only ever witnessed staff being kind and caring to all residents. They do provide a range of activities but it is very limited with regard to those
who have dementia. In my opinion, just having a chat over a memory book is very much an activity that can bring pleasure, however brief. The Dining room is particularly light and bright and the food cooked fresh. Residents who often congregate in the main lounge seem relaxed, well cared for and always ready for a chat. I feel my concerns are listened to and dealt with by management.

Fairby Grange offers a home from home environment. The staff are all extremely caring and attentive to each resident's needs and I know mum couldn't be treated any better than when she was living with us. It was the hardest decision we had to make after mum and dad had been living with us for over 20
years but having had a couple of occasions where respite care was necessary and mum was in Fairby Grange it was a seamless next step to make for her safety and wellbeing. Fairby Grange are always updating and keeping the home very presentable. There are activities which mum enjoys either watching or participating in plus her weekly hairdresser. Mum loves all the varied meals and has put weight on since being there. The peace of mind Fairby Grange has given me is priceless. I would thoroughly recommend Fairby to anyone who is having to make what is probably the hardest decision of their lives for a loved one.

The staff at Fairby Grange are friendly and caring. My Mum has been a resident for over two years and they have catered for her complex needs. She is now bed-bound and her care is given in a respectful manner. My husband and I are always made to feel welcome when we visit daily.

A wonderful, caring home with the staff we feel are family. My brother-in-law is a very disable man suffering from both bone marrow cancer plus advanced Parkinsons Disease, he was so ill we couldn't cope with his needs but Fairby Grange has taken all the worry and look after him so well. The food is
truly lovely too. We've joined him for Sunday lunch and really approve. If I'm even unable to cope this is where I'd like to be.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.550)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.550) out of 10 for Fairby Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Fairby Grange is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 92 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Fairby Grange is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
