Care fees at Generals Meadow are all inclusive, with the exception of standard charges such as Hairdressing, Chiropody, Newspapers and private telephone.
Transport and chaperone service is included for all local medical appointments for example GP, hospital, dentist etc.
Generals Meadow also has a wheelchair adapted vehicle which can be loaned free of charge to friends and relatives.
Generals Meadow does not charge additional fees if a residents care needs change.
Please feel free to visit the home at any time and the team will do the best to accommodate your visit.
If able to make an appointment for a private tour, the home can ensure that a convenient time and day to suit is booked in, and allow sufficient time to discuss any requirements.
Tours of the home to include a meeting to discuss care needs can last about 1 hour.
There is plenty of parking in St. Clare Road. Also have a driveway for dropping off and collecting visitors and clients safely by the front entrance.

We thank you for taking the time to submit a review about us. It makes us very proud to hear the feedback that your father and family are pleased with the care and progress which has been made during his time with us. We do not use agency staff at all, so yes this does provide continuity of care and the staff have got to know your father very well.
He has made some valuable contributions to our residents' meetings and by his request we moved his room about so he could watch the TV when he is in bed, improving and promoting his quality of life and choices.

Thank you for the review. Your mother-in-law always looks forward to your regular phone calls and visits which is so important to our residents' mental health, it's clear that she has a very caring family. She loves helping out in the home and picking fruit in the garden. It's a pleasure to have her with us she is always making sure that nobody gets left out.
Covid has been a challenge for everyone and we feel that we have done everything possible to keep the home as safe as possible whilst still encouraging the freedoms we all enjoy.

Your positive comments are welcomed by the whole team at Generals Meadow, and it's always a pleasure to welcome you when you visit your sister.
We are sorry to hear that the other care providers were not up to the standard you expected but happy that you found that the 'luxury hotel' environment at Generals Meadow was to your sister's liking. The Jacobean style of the property certainly doesn't look like many other care homes, so we are fortunate that we are quite unique in what we are able to offer in such a nice location with beautiful grounds.
Your sister has settled in very well and the staff love it when she sings to them. She has put weight on during her time with us, enjoys her meals and often tucks into her biscuit barrel in her room!
I think we have a pretty good routine and plan of care in place, however, if there is anything else we can do to accommodate your sister's stay with us please just let me know.

It was a sad time for us all knowing that she was not going to make a recovery following her recent diagnosis, she was a kind lady who thought about others all the time. It does provide warmth and comfort during these times knowing that we were able to provide care according to your step-mother's wishes, and to remain at Generals Meadow with familiar, caring staff by her side.
I will pass on your kind feedback to the rest of the team, who we are indebted to for their dedication, kindness and care. The home will not be the same without her, and she will be missed by the other residents who had also grown very fond of her.

All the staff mention how nice it is to have your sister-in-law with us, and they enjoy playing solitaire with her any time of the day. Yes, we have made a significant investment in the home in recent years, and it's appreciated that it's been noticed. It's a beautiful building, and we are aiming to complement it with all of the refurbishments.

It's such a shame and disappointing that you did not express your views about the home whilst your friend was being cared for by the team, as we promote an open and transparent culture, receiving good feedback throughout the four years we cared for them until the end of her life, providing enhanced care, equipment and support.
You said you were relieved she was able to remain at Generals Meadow.
To address your inaccurate assumptions made from infrequent visits.
-The missing item was investigated, and you were satisfied with the outcome.
-Two staff from 28 have moved on to other careers in the last 12 months.
-Our food hygiene rating is 5/5, comments from the latest resident meeting were very complimentary about the food where we serve home cooked meals, made from scratch.

Thank you for the review and commenting on the excellent end of life care your mother received. You are correct in your observations that we have needed to invest a lot of time, money and thought into the refurbishment of the property since we took over the ownership 12 months ago. We have made good progress, prioritising the areas of improvement which included fire prevention and detection measures, staff training, decoration and refurbishment of the indoor and outdoor spaces. Half of the bedrooms have been completely refurbished, repainted with new carpets, curtains, new oak furniture, bedding and also the addition of shower en-suite bathrooms. It was a shame that we were not able to refurbish your mother's room during her time with us (now completed), however, her poor health took priority and as you have already mentioned, we provided excellent end of life care, respecting your wishes as a family whilst respecting your mother's dignity. Thank you for the staff Christmas gifts.

Lesley has been working at Generals Meadow since 2012, starting off as a Domestic and Night Care Assistant.
She has progressed over the years through her NVQ Level 2 & 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care taking roles as Senior Carer and Assistant Manager.
Since the ownership of Generals Meadow changed in 2018, Lesley has developed her knowledge and experience, worked and achieved a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership Management, awarded in 2023.
Lesley lives locally and has admirably brought up her children whilst still being a working parent, she has 6 children with two who still live with her and her husband.
Her hobbies and interests include holidays with her family, seeing her grandchildren and socialising with her friends and colleagues.
