Since residing at Hanningfield for the past two years my mother has received excellent care and attention from all the staff. We could not have wished for better treatment.

It's a wonderful home. Everyone is so friendly. They can't do enough for you.
Anything you want they always get it, whether it's ice cream etc, they will jump in a car and go to the shop.
It's one of the nicest homes I have ever visited.

We spent a lot of time looking around local residential homes to ensure we chose an appropriate one for my uncle, and we instantly loved Hanningfeild. It felt like a home and not like an institute. We were greeted and shown round by the owners who we have come to know well as they are always around.
The carers we have encountered have always been warm and friendly, offering us drinks and snacks. My uncle's key carer has really got to know him well and keeps us well updated about how he is doing. She had so much time for him, he can be extremely chatty!
The residents are provided with three meals a day and the kitchen staff are really flexible about timings. Snacks of fruit/biscuits and ice creams in the summer are offered throughout the day.
It's hard leaving a loved one with people you don't know especially when they are elderly and vulnerable but we truly trust Hanningfield and have full faith in their ability to care for him and fulfil his needs.

No home is like your own home. This one is clean, warm, cosy etc. The staff are very friendly.

Working in a care home can be very trying for both carers and residents.

It takes lots of patience with residents' poor ears, sight, fitness.

My mother lived at the home for almost 5 years. We have never had any reasons to complain about her care or treatment when needed at all. The staff respond quickly to the needs of residents. There is always a member of the owners on site. When my mother passed away her care and treatment was excellent.
The rooms are cleaned every day. Those residents that need help with washing, dressing and feeding are catered for every day and are checked on a regular basis. We as a family were very happy with her care.

A brilliant care home. My Mum is so pleased that she chose Hanningfield. This is an individually owned home, not one of a chain of homes. So it provides a very personal service, with the owners very closely involved. The staff are extremely caring and thoughtful. Nothing is too much trouble. I couldn't
recommend it more.

Absolutely brilliant, Mother has been there for a year now and has just celebrated her 95th birthday. Can't fault the staff or management in any way.
My Wife and I have spent most of our working lives as Social Services social workers and care managers and have seen many homes in our time, good and
bad, and this is one of the best. Staff cannot do enough for the residents, the manager is first class and the owners are very hands on and nothing is too much trouble.
We think that my Mother has never been as happy for years as she is now, long may it continue!.

I cannot speak highly enough of this wonderful Residential home that my father resides in. He has been there for 1 year now and the kindness shown to him and the care and attention towards his medical needs have been wonderful. Their laughter rings out throughout the building and they always welcome
everyone with a smile. The staff "All" show genuine care and kindness to every resident. We are encouraged as family to join in and are welcome anytime, and offered a cup of tea. He is supported and listened to and great care is taken to get to know each resident as an "individual" and not as an "inmate". I wish all our elderly were treated this way.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.988)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.988) out of 10 for Hanningfield is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.1 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.847 for Hanningfield is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.847

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.141 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hanningfield is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.8 = 0.641

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
