A small, independent home owned and run by the same managers for over 10 years and set in over an acre of grounds, Highland House is passionate about its service.

Visitors most often describe the home as 'light and airy' and Staff and Residents 'cheerful'. Highland House provides a high standard of accommodation and daily activities to allow the 27 residents the best of care.

Because the service is small and the owners are highly attentive to the needs of Residents, families and staff, the team at Highland House is very flexible in how they care for Residents. Personalised service is at the core of the service. Over the years they have accommodated many special requests - pets, a raised patio and late night dinners to name a few. Staffing levels are very high because they prioritise smooth, consistent care for Residents - as well as visiting experiences for friends and family!

I moved into Highland House just over a year ago, after a spell in hospital, for respite care. I was so happy here that I decided to stay. The kindness, help and friendly, caring attitude of all the staff and management could not be bettered and I cannot think of a nicer place 'to end my days'.

After a long search to find the right home for our 86 year-old mother we are so pleased we chose Highland House. The staff and management are excellent, nothing is too much trouble. The owners live next door and are always on hand. The well-trained staff are so kind and attentive and they always greet
and engage with family and friends that visit.
The home is bright, airy, well designed and spotless. The lounges all open out to the garden where the residents enjoy sitting, walking and tending the garden. It feels such a happy and positive place. There are many activities each day which my mother loves to join in with, as do I.
Mum is always well dressed, clean and tidy. The staff even apply her make up for her each day as they know how important it is to her well-being.
The family portal has been such a good idea, we can see how Mum is each day and this puts our minds at rest.
I cannot express enough how wonderful Highland House is and I have recommended it to many people.

My mother has now been at Highland House for almost two years. I have been delighted with the care and support that she has received. I particularly appreciate the time and effort put in by the owners and the manager. They are always available to discuss any concerns and very responsive.

We chose Highland House for my 93-year-old mother after a long search and all of our high expectations have been borne out in practice. The sunny, open aspect of the extremely well-designed building is reflected in every element of the way this superb home is run. The management is outstanding and goes
out of their way to promote an open and highly responsive culture focussed utterly on the unique needs of each individual and hugely involving of relatives. Nothing is too much trouble, queries are speedily responded to and everything revolves around the happiness and safety of residents. It's impressive that the manager can recruit and retain a talented, enormously high calibre staff team, at all levels, when other homes clearly struggle. Staff are very kind and empathic, clearly want to be there and have worked tirelessly to get to understand my mother's particular needs. Activities are many, varied and imaginative. I sleep easy at night knowing that my mum is in this lovely place.

A small, family run care home run by people who genuinely care.
The premises are very clean, tidy, light and airy and welcoming when you visit.
My mum wasn't a long term resident but she was welcomed and I am confident well looked after whilst she was there.
The senior team were extremely understanding
and knowledgable, giving confidence in the care offered to the residents and reflected through the team providing the care on a daily basis - they have some extremely caring and devoted people looking after the residents.

My mother suffered from gradual memory loss and deteriorating mobility while living in a large, luxury care home with many facilities for 5 years. Although she was happy there, the frequency and level of care required grew and became her overwhelming need. Since moving her to the much smaller Highland
House just over a year ago, we have noticed an increase in her happiness and overall well-being. I believe that much of this is a result of the frequency and level of care and personal attention provided in a genuine, friendly and caring manner. My mother seems to be happy, comfortable and looked after at Highland House.

My mother has been in this residential home since December 2012. Whilst the standard of care was always satisfactory but now since the new owners took it over, it is now excellent in all aspects: quality of personal care, the physical environment both indoors and outdoors. I am kept informed regarding
my mother's health and needs. The staff are kind and patient and attempts are made to stimulate residents. The home is spotlessly clean and welcoming to any visitors.

Our family first experienced Highland House before the current owners took over and we were happy with the care provided to my mother-in-law, however, the buildings and facilities were comfortable but dated. The current owners purchased the home during that time and started to make some major alterations
but we did not see the finished result as my mother-in-law passed away.
I visited Highland House again when my father needed to go into a home and this was my first choice and I was amazed at the change in the home since I had last visited. Highland House is a very comfortable and nicely presented home that is not too big and the improvements made to the layout and design are of very high quality and have improved the home enormously. It is lovely having the family of the owners living next door and the atmosphere is always warm and friendly with staff that are carefully selected and trained to care to a very high standard. I have recommended it many times and will continue to do so.

Very pleased with the care my mother is receiving at Highland House. She has been there since Jan 2016. Whenever we visit we are always made very welcome.
Mum is always calm and happy. Also well presented, clean and tidy. Her health is good however, her memory is deteriorating quickly. I would highly

My mother has lived at Highland House for over two years and I have nothing but praise for the care she receives. Her day to day care is excellent and staff, no matter how busy, seem to do their best to listen to my mum and comply with her wishes.
The owners are always available as they live next door
and are present in the home most of the time. All requests about her care that I have made have been attended to.
On my many and frequent visits at all hours of the day and night, I have never seen or heard anything to worry me.

This is a lovely, clean home with very friendly staff. Nothing is too much trouble. My mother was bedridden but they turned her regularly and kept her clean. They turned her bed so that she could watch the birds, etc. The proprietors were involved with the home, knowing the patients needs. I cannot
recommend them enough.

I would like to say that I am extremely happy with the care that my nan received within this home during the last months of her life. Considering we picked the home assuming nan would still be mobile but ended up bed bound, the home tried everything they could to try and encourage and make able and
although unable to, still gave fantastic, personal, caring care for her until her last breath. I would recommend this home to anybody.

Susan has been the Registered Manager and owner of Highland House since 2013. She has a wide experience in the care sector, including working with residents with challenging behaviour.


Susan experience also includes having obtained the Registered Managers award for elderly care. In to addition to this, she has pursed additional training in the area of safeguarding, dementia and resident well-being.
