Holywell Park is a large country house, set in its own grounds in the hamlet of Ashley-Cum-Ridley. Offering 24 hour nursing, dementia, residential and respite care the aim is to provide a friendly, caring environment for older people.

The home employs registered nurses, qualified care assistants, chefs, kitchen assistants and on-site housekeeping and maintenance staff.

Daily activities include: manicures, maintaining hobbies, playing games, Bingo, movie nights and themed nights. The home receives regular visits from musical and theatre groups, along with visits to the pantomime and garden centres.

My 91-year-old mother has been at Holywell Park for nearly two months. The staff and the care they have provided have restored her dignity, mobility and enjoyment in life. All of these had been lost as the result of a short stay in hospital after breaking her pelvis.

My 85-year-old husband, with dementia, needs constant attendance. He wishes to 'be busy outdoors' at all times. He has been given minor gardening jobs; he has been allowed to roll his Bowls along the lawn and to practise golf putting, always with someone in attendance. I have been able to contact my
husband by FaceTime and on the telephone because staff have helped by pressing the correct buttons. His room is bright, warm, clean and has an ensuite toilet. When it is time to leave him he is sometimes upset but there is always a nurse who will comfort him and ensure he is safe and happy. Staff have always ensured that all information sent to me has been copied to my daughter (at my request) to enable me and my family to make decisions. All staff have been incredibly kind and have always been willing to answer all my queries. I have always been kept informed if there have been any problems. I could not wish for a happier, safer place for my husband to stay.

My sister has only been at Holywell for the past three months. She originally came for just six weeks but shortly afterwards she decided she would like to stay full term. The reasons my sister stayed was, she felt safe and cared for, along with cleanliness being top class, and the food was out of this
world.
My own experience and observations are, at the first point of contact a friendly receptionist answers the phone with a very happy and cheery “Hello, Holywell park”. Puts you at ease straight away. I have found the managers very helpful in answering all my many questions. I congratulate Holywell park for retaining such good quality staff. The carers are brilliant with my sister, they happily provide all her needs. The nurses have made my sister very comfortable as she has a few health issues and they always contact me to report any changes.
My sister is profoundly deaf and all staff are very good at communication. I thank every one of you.

Mum came to Holywell Park following a long stay in the hospital after being abused at another home. Obviously, we were very concerned, however, we need not have worried. Mum's care at Holywell Park has been second to none, and we would have no hesitation in recommending.

Contact with care staff is friendly, and they are very pleasant with my husband. It is difficult to make a detailed commend as Covid has reduced visiting time so severely, but it's a great relief still to be allowed in.

The care my mother is receiving at Holywell Park is excellent. All the staff show a deep commitment to making the lives of residents as fulfilling as possible. The staff also show great respect for the residents, recognising that although they may now be frail and with poor memory they have lived vibrant
and fulfilling lives in earlier years.
I have been very impressed with the arrangements around the Covid epidemic. Firstly that they have managed to keep Holywell Covid-free by their commitment, and secondly by enabling visits when possible that minimise anxiety to the residents.

I am pleased with the care my aunt has received. The staff understand her needs and requirements and are happy to assist with any queries raised.
The standard of procedures put in place to minimize any risk of infection are excellent. The arrangements for visiting, if permissible, have been well thought
out.

My mother has been living at Holywell for nearly four years and feels very much at home. Holywell is set in peaceful surroundings with beautiful grounds. The staff are extremely kind and caring towards the residents, rooms are kept clean and the food is good. A variety of activities are organised daily
which residents enjoy. It has been greatly appreciated visits have been arranged since we have come out of lockdown.

The nursing care for my Dad at Holywell has been very comprehensive and I am very grateful. Staff have been very caring and have managed particularly well during the COVID restrictions. The outdoor visits have been well organised with a second sheltered space having been cleverly created. The home has
a family feel about it and when I have contacted the manager with any query she has always got back to me promptly.

Our mother has been at Holywell Park Care Home for over 3-years, and she is extremely happy there. She has made numerous friends both with other residents and with members of the staff. The staff are conscientious, courteous and friendly and are always willing to help if there is a problem.


The

home has had numerous improvements during the time our mother has been there, and the atmosphere is always welcoming when you arrive. My mother is lucky and has her own lounge area if she wants to watch her own tv or entertain her visitors.


There are plenty of activities arranged each day, and before the COVID 19 lockdown, there used to be outings every fortnight and lunch at the local pub every Thursday for those who wanted to go out.

My mother has lived at Holywell Park for five years now. She has vascular dementia, and no short term memory but is physically well and mobile, needing minimal nursing care. She has been very contented here and is always telling me how kind everyone is looking after her. The staff all genuinely care
for all the residents and know them well as individuals. There are lots of activities available throughout the week, and themes change in the dining room according to the seasons, which means displays and menus are often varied. My mum particularly loves all the music and singing, and the visits by farm animals and pets. The home has had several managers since I’ve known it and has steadily improved in the last couple of years, particularly in terms of record-keeping, staffing levels, and communication. It really feels like a home, and I strongly recommend it for residents who don’t have challenging behaviour.

My father and I had visited a number of care homes before deciding on Holywell Park. The property is well maintained, furnished to a good standard and doesn't smell like a lot of care homes do. He has received excellent care since staying at Holywell Park. The staff have been very professional and caring,
even when my father has been very challenging and aggressive towards them. There are always plenty of activities for the resident to participate in and quiet rooms if they don't want to. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Holywell Park.

Mum had her first ever respite stay here at Holywell and naturally I was concerned that she would be OK but I needn't have worried as the staff here really looked after mum. She said all the staff were very kind and caring, the food was good and the facilities excellent. We upgraded mum to one of the
better rooms on arrival but the others we saw looked perfectly fine. I looked at many respite places before booking mum in here as I was impressed by the staff's friendly welcoming manner and the cleanliness of the place. To me, it is a cut above all the other homes I looked at and the staff go the extra mile to look after everyone. There are several people here just employed to do activities with residents and each week Holywell organise trips out including a pub meal. They also have their own coffee shop and bar. Mum has said she will gladly return next time we go on holiday and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for respite care.

I have been so pleased with how excellent this care/nursing home has been for my stepfather and my mother. The home looks beautiful and the grounds are kept immaculate. The rooms that my parents received were thoughtfully allocated, concerning their needs and wants. The food has always been a high standard
and the home is clean - The management have always been above and beyond for my family - We would have long chats and probably expect too much, but all we received back was a smile, an answer and explanation if required. Most importantly, the incredible empathy and compassion that ALL the staff have given to our circumstances have been so touching. The way they gave our family time to share special moments was beyond what I would expect from any nursing home. It has a family feel with the staff and the residents and my only regret is I was not able to give my mother longer in this care home to enjoy the smiles, the cuddles, the moments, that the staff here give freely and honestly.

Holywell Park did wonders for my mother. She went there in a very frail depressed state and we saw an immediate and substantial improvement. The staff were excellent making sure she was well taken care of, medication was taken, doctors visiting, well fed, responding to requests and above all that
she was loved. They organised daily events she loved taking part in and were a great help when medical emergencies or other hospital trips were needed. The staff have also been excellent with us (her relatives) making it easy to visit, easy to raise concerns over her health and arrange for her to have a full life including outings for family events.


Sadly my mother died recently and again Holywell Park and especially the management team were excellent at helping us with this.

My mother received palliative care at Holywell Park from January 2017 until her passing at the end of May 2017.
As a nurse myself, I recognise that the management and the nursing team worked well together and I cannot praise them highly enough.
My mother’s physical and emotional needs were always
met and she was regularly assessed and her care plan adjusted accordingly.
She was cared for with compassion and dignity under some difficult circumstances and as a family, we feel very privileged that she was staying at Holywell Park.
During this time my family, including our elderly father, were also supported and cared for by the team. There were always refreshments offered and time was found to chat to us, by every member of staff.
We appreciated the kindness you showed us all.

My mother was happy from the day she arrived at Holywell Park and enjoyed the various activities as well as the beautiful setting. She loved the food and when her appetite diminished a lot of effort was made to assist with her calorie intake and really tempt her with snacks which were delicious and
easy to eat. As her health deteriorated we were so grateful for the loving care she received, the staff were so gentle and kind and were really concerned for her welfare. Her final days were comfortable and pain-free, and the staff really looked after me as well. I am very grateful - choosing a nursing home is such a difficult decision and I never regretted our choice.

We think of ourselves like a family at Holywell and treat our residents with kindness, respect, and dignity.


We are a lively bunch, and no day is the same. I believe in looking at the person, not the illness.


My door is always open to residents, relatives, and staff. I like to say hello to every resident every day and have a chat.


Good communication and daily updates with all departments are essential for effective teamwork.

I have 2 grown-up daughters and family overseas so we love to travel.

I began as a care assistant, through to team leader and now Activities and Wellbeing Leader.


I’m a Mum of 3 wonderful boys who are my world, they love coming in to see the residents, I want them to grow up see a care home setting as an inclusive environment.


I have been revamping the range of activities at Holywell Park to accommodate some of our newer residents and introduce new opportunities.


We are finding out so much more about our residents and able to give proper holistic care.


With a greater understanding of their backgrounds, I am able to act as an advocate to improve their daily lives.

Caren Harvey

Job Title: Administrator

I started working at Holywell Park in December 2017 as a Part-time Administrator and was then offered the full-time position of Home Administrator in January 2019 due to staff changes.
I am responsible for the smooth running of the payroll and other financial issues and work closely with our staff, residents, and families. I also work alongside our accounts team.
It’s a challenging but enjoyable role as no two days are the same.
Before having my children, who are now teenagers I worked as a payroll officer for an international advertising agency. I then took a work from home job with a media agency while raising them.
As a family we spend some of our weekends watching my daughter show jumping as she has her own horse.

Sophie Booker

Job Title: Head Housekeeper

Joined: 2017

I have been working for Holywell for 9 years and I have been Head of Housekeeping since 2017.


During this time I have worked hard at creating a dedicated, hardworking and solid team of housekeepers.


I enjoy coming to work and making a difference. As a team, we work hard daily in making Holywell a friendly, lovely and clean homely environment for our residents.

Derrick Jenner

Job Title: Head Chef

Joined: 2007

My name is Derrick, I have been working at Holywell Park as the Kitchen Manager and Chef for the last 16 years.


I run the meal service and manage several kitchen staff ensuring legislation and paperwork is up to date.


I enjoy cooking and trialling new menus to suit a variety of diets and needs.


Outside of work, I enjoy fixing things at home and gardening.
