Mum was with Oakdene for 10 months before having to go into a nursing home.
Oakdene met all of mums needs.
The staff were all kind, friendly and professional. She was well looked after. The food was lovely and varied. We were very sad when mum had to leave. I would recommend Oakdene to anyone looking
for a caring 'home from home' care home.

Since my Dad has been a resident I have not seen any concerns whatsoever. The staff have always been very helpful and most of all very chatty when Dad calls them.

So pleased with the care my Dad receives. The carers take the time to chat to him and make him feel comfortable. My Dad never liked the sound of a home until he went to Oakdene where he is happy.

Mum has been at Oakdene for a year now, even though she has advanced dementia, she seems happy.
The management and staff are all very attentive and caring. Mum's health is not always good but we are kept well informed and the staff call on the doctor if they are worried. The home is small and very
well kept with individual rooms kept nice and clean. I am very happy with mum's care.

All the staff are caring and understanding of individual needs. The staff seem to be consistent and not much change of personnel so clients feel comfortable, they are known.
The actual care home is always being updated and decorated which is good.

Dad moved into Oakdene Rest Home earlier in the year and enjoyed his time immensely. The staff are second to none, always happy and/or smiling and willing to dance when dad wanted to, he loved that. The food was plentiful, good and enjoyable. Events at the home were fantastic.

My mother-in-law was a resident at Oakdene Rest Home for 3 years during which she treated with care, support, dignity and good humour. I never saw any residents treated with anything less. I did have some concerns about personal care under previous management, which I raised with the manager when the
response was unsatisfactory I raised the issues with the owner. The current (new) manager has vastly improved the morale of both staff and residents.


In the last few days of her life, my mother-in-law was nursed with genuine affection by the staff. My only concern has been with laundry. Clothes are washed and dried too hot and colours obviously mixed.

My mum is a resident (since May 2017). It's a new experience for us all. All of the staff at Oakdene Rest Home have been kind, helpful and welcoming to Mum, but also to us.
We can visit anytime unannounced and I've always found my mum happy and with other residents, joining in activities.
Mum's health
and general wellbeing have improved enormously since being at Oakdene. I can't thank them enough.

I find Oakdene to be extremely homely. Staff are friendly, caring and always helpful.
The professionalism is second to none. Staff are kind and caring towards the residents and are always helpful when you need them. Oakdene is well run, family orientated, clean and the elderly are very smart, clean

My mum has been in the home for nearly 4 yrs. I'm happy that my mum loved it as soon as she went in. She's not happy when you want to take her anywhere. My mum has a lovely room which she can get to when she wants. If she wants to stay in her room she can. She does like to join the other residents in
the lounge, sometimes she joins in with the activities she enjoys that, especially when I visit and join in with them. They all end up laughing or clapping each other. The home is very clean and mum enjoys the food. The staff can't be faulted they are brilliant in their care.

I have found the care of my father to be wonderful. He is definitely treated as a person. He has shown to us that he is very happy at the home, even though his dementia prevents him from verbalising his feelings staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

I have much admiration for the care staff at Oakdene, over the last two years they have worked under much pressure. With a change of management, I feel this has been a very challenging time for the original staff, many have left unable to cope with the new management's changes.
My mother has been there
for over four years, she is probably the longest resident there now, she is a real character and probably not the easiest resident to care for, she say what she thinks, and certainty staff at Oakdene know just how to handle her, I appreciate that.
There have been many times my wife has had to speak to the management, with complaints, on their part but never complained about the care staff, that is the reason my mother remains at Oakdene, as she is self-funding we could easily move her on.
My wife visits regularly to the home, she has had many issues over the last two years, with health and hygiene regarding my mother.

Thank you for your review. Oakdene Rest Home has gone through significant changes over the past two years and has worked closely with Residents. Next of Kin and Social Services to improve the services provided. Our overall rating with CQC has improved, Decorating of the home is ongoing with new flooring and furniture. Care planning is improving. Staff are excellent. Next of kin are invited to participate in the planning of care of their loved ones so that we can provide the best possible care.
