Pilgrims View care home, located in the small village of Snodland near West Malling, is a care facility providing residential care for older people living with dementia.

Pilgrims View provides a wealth of support services for people living with dementia, with the aim of not just providing care and comfort, but also a new, positive and more engaging stage in their lives. The team of qualified and attentive staff provide 24-hour person-centred dementia care.

The care home has 40 bedrooms available to Kent and Medway residents. The rooms are light and airy and decorated individually to provide comfort and independence, with colour schemes chosen by residents.

At the heart of Pilgrims View is its philosophy of care, The Eden Alternative, where social interaction and engagement are encouraged and boredom is eradicated by addressing the three plagues of loneliness, helplessness and boredom within the home.

Another full year of care and friendship from all the staff at Pilgrim's View and so grateful for the excellent service they provide. OK, it may not be 5-star accommodation with a fancy gym, cinema with popcorn machine etc but it has in abundance what we all need - the love, care and feeling of belonging
from an amazing staff who not only provide clean and tidy rooms, the professional care of medications, regular health updates, and a wide choice of nutritious home-cooked food throughout the day (and sometimes the night too!) but perhaps more importantly, respect for the dignity and choices of the individual and non-stop kindness. My husband may not have his own family around him 24/7 anymore but he is safe and content with his Pilgrims View family who never fail to smile and work tirelessly on making the day as much fun as it can be in difficult times. I am so glad we found Pilgrim's View - the staff are a credit to the company and we wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

My mum must be one of the longest guests staying at Pilgrims View Care Home and I have to say, because of them, I feel comforted. I know she gets treated nicely, by people who care and know her likes and dislikes, who make time to come and sing with her and make her jam sandwiches when she wants. It's
so easy to forget what we owe the staff for their dedication and love, every day and that's why I say a big thank you, Pilgrims View, for making Mum's days comfortable and making me sleep easy!

My mum has been a resident since November 2019. She was made welcome from the first day. The staff are always happy and smiling. They get the residents involved in tasks - they have trips out, which is a good thing, so they see different surroundings. My mum is a lot happier now she is being looked
after properly and has a routine.

Mum has been at Pilgrims View since September 2020. Mum has found it difficult at times as she has forgotten that dad has died and will look for him and get angry she's there. The staff have been great with mum and us as a family.

Mum has been a resident at Pilgrims View for over 3 years she will be 98 this year, although she is physically and mentally frailer due to vascular dementia she has told us she is very happy and content. She is well cared for and safe. The staff are excellent, they are caring and professional and keep
us informed of Mum’s condition. On returning to Pilgrims from a hospital trip she was very relieved when the staff greeted us on return.
The food is excellent and there’s always plenty of snacks and fluids encouraged and available throughout the day and night (staff have told us she sits up at night watching tv).
The home is clean and all the staff work well together, (carers, activities coordination, domestics, kitchen and office)
There’s plenty of activities trips out, local children from the pre-school, entertainers and other activities always happening (Some not during covid) but the staff still found things to do to entertain the residents.

We can not faut the level of care afforded to Dad from all of the staff and management at Pilgrims View. They are always attentive to his needs and always have smiles on their faces with a kind word for everyone.

My mum became a resident of Pilgrim's View in May and within just two weeks it was as if she blossomed. She was happier and looked altogether much more healthier.


She has made lots of new friends and joins in with a variety of great social activities put on by the home. Mum always says that the staff

cannot do enough for her. Pilgrim's View is always very proactive and we are always promptly kept up to date on any health issues with mum.


Mum loves her room which is kept spotlessly clean and she enjoys nothing more than spending time in the secure, enclosed garden patio area. Food and drink provision is constant and very nutritious. The Staff have a great sense of humour as well as being very caring towards the residents. The manager and her team are very efficient and always on top of things like medication, etc. My sister and I cannot fault Pilgrim's View. They provide care, with dignity, security and most importantly fun and happiness for all their residents.

Unfortunately, there has been a major change in staff and management and the care for my family member has rapidly deteriorated. Standard of cleaning has dropped, not enough suitably trained staff. Awful smell throughout.
The great staff at this establishment have all but nearly gone, staff needs
to concentrate on their contractable obligations and not on their personal leisure activities.
Management is rude and obnoxious and their complaints procedure nonexistent.
The establishment needs a CQC report urgently.
Looking to withdraw family member urgently, which itself will cause a lot of emotional stress for everyone involved.

My wife loves all the staff. She is so safe and happy, gets involved and enjoys days out and being out in the gardens. She loves the hot drinks and snacks and dinners and all the food. So pleased I placed her in the care of this lovely home because she is so happy and so am I.

Since my mum has been at Pilgrims View she has settled very quickly. This is because of the high quality care she receives. The carers are lovely, polite, caring and always willing to help. The entertainment staff are amazing. My mum has been to the park, seaside, held a lizard and petted a pony in
the past few months. Her Alzheimer’s is progressing but she tells me that it is a good place, and that you couldn’t get better carers. As a family, it is a huge comfort that she is in such a good home.

Mum has been in Pilgrims View for just over 6 months now. The staff have been great with Mum. Mum has dementia so mood can be up or down. Always seems to be recognised and the staff try to help solve if there is a problem. Be it mentally or physically. Mum always seems happy with the staff whenever
l visit. So Mum happy, l'm happy.

Ever since my mum has been in care, the home has had to follow Covid guidelines. These have been adhered to in a professional manner. All the staff I have had been in contact with are polite and friendly and are willing to answer my questions. There seem to be plenty of activities to keep Mum occupied,
and at most, she seems happy.

My aunt has been a resident since 2018, and I couldn't have found a better home for her to be in.
Recently, she had a fall, and the care given to her was excellent as always. The staff are always professional, friendly and happy; nothing seems to be too much trouble for them.
They are always ready
to answer any concerns I have and inform me if they have any concerns about my aunt; the home is always clean and welcoming.
My aunt is very happy and content, this is due to the care and support she receives from the amazing Team. Thank you.

I did not know that my daughter was going to write a review also. It goes to show that as a family how much we think of Pilgrims View.


My wife has Alzheimer's, is bedridden and has been in residence since December 2020. When the time came to choose somewhere for her to stay, I took my time to select

where I felt she would be well looked after. Pilgrims View stood out as a well organised caring home. I am glad I made the right decision.


Nothing is too much trouble for them and I feel a great relief that she is in safe hands.

My mother has been with the care home since the first lockdown. She has Alzheimer's and is bedridden. The home has been amazing with her care and keeping me up to date with her medical care. In the lockdown, I was able to have wonderful FaceTimes with my mum with the help of the carers. They are a wonderful
and caring group of staff who have not just been there for my mum but for me as well. The home is a home from home, for all the residents and I just hope there are places like Pilgrims View when my time comes. I can never thank them enough for what they do and are still doing for my mum.

My mum has had a new lease of life since moving to Pilgrims View. When I view the home videos my mum is often singing and occasionally dancing! She also seems to enjoy the craft projects and the outside visits from the infants at the school opposite. The staff have always been very caring and cheerful
towards Mum. I have always been kept informed of my mum's health issues. I have peace of mind that my mum is getting the best possible care for her dementia. My comments have been made on basic observations, as my mother has moved to the home since the Covid-19 restrictions came into being and I am yet to visit Mum inside the building.
