Amazing care home. Staff are caring and kind and thoughtful to their residents and families visiting. Nothing is too much trouble. They have a top-class chef and the food always looks appetising. Entertainment at this care home is fabulous with so much choice to live singers and arts and craft day.
They go above and beyond to ensure the residents are looked after and feel loved. Thank you to each and every one of you for all you do.

My father has been at Pine Lodge since Spring 2019. During that time he has been very well looked after. I live quite a distance away and cannot visit as often as I would like so have to rely on the staff to give him the care he needs. They certainly do.

Dad was ill before Christmas and I spent a

lot of time with him. It was very evident that he receives excellent care and love from the staff. They are so kind and obviously have a good relationship with him. Staff keep me informed and, because visiting can be difficult, do their best to make sure that I can spend time with him when I am there. He is safe, well cared for and loved. What more can I ask for?

Reply from Eve Fielding, Registered Manager at Pine Lodge Care Home

If you require a care home that is like a holiday guest house, that is warm and friendly with excellent caring and attentive staff and carers; then this is it. Thank you, especially to "the girls", as Mum would call them, because she loved them very much.

My elderly mother who suffers from dementia had a fall in April of this year and was admitted to hospital. Following a review of Mum, it was recommended that Mum be placed in a local care home as it was considered no longer safe for Mum to live at home on her own. It was a very hard decision to make
as a family and we were very worried about placing her in a care home. We needn’t have worried as from the outset they welcomed Mum with open arms. Since her admission, her general demeanour and welfare have improved no end and overall she is very settled at Pine Lodge. The carers and Managers go over and above to make their residents feel welcome and cared for as though they are their own family. Whenever we ring the home to ask after Mum in between our visits, the staff always know who Mum is and give a very comprehensive update. One of the carers at the home remarked that she couldn’t believe the change in Mum since she arrived, which we would definitely agree with. They are fantastic.

My Father is extremely well-loved and cared for at Pine Lodge all their staff. He has been a resident since December 2019. I can't thank the team enough for all they do and how they have all coped during such difficult times. My Dad tells me the food is 5 star and he is well looked after. From the day
Dad went in any request was quickly met to make him as comfortable as possible. After visiting Dad today he was proud to tell me this is his home with a big contented smile. For anyone that has had to make the heart-wrenching decision to place their loved one in care, you can imagine the reassurance this brings me and our family. Thank you everyone for all you do.

My mother has been a resident for 3 years at Pine Lodge. Her time was made a pleasure, due to the special staff and management team. She was made to feel loved, valued and safe. Magnificent staff, hard working, but always with a smile.

My 85-year-old father-in-law was becoming too frail to manage on his own. After a fall, we needed to find him a nursing home and move him from South London to be closer to us. It was just at the start of lockdown; the staff at Pine Lodge made the process so easy for us and him. He settled well and
spent that last three months of his life happily living there. The staff were lovely to him, and this made our lives so much easier, particularly with all the restrictions in place. Sadly, we lost him on Sunday, but we take comfort in the fact that he was happy in his home.

In May 2019 due to a sudden change in our mum's health, we were advised to move her to a care home close to where we lived. We visited a number of local care homes in Kent and spoke to a significant number on the phone. The one key factor that stood out about Pine Lodge was how easy it was to speak
to the management team and the advice that they gave us. We chose Pine Lodge because we felt mum would become part of a bigger family and not just another resident.
The staff at Pine Lodge not only made mum feel part of a much wider family but also us whenever we spoke to them on the phone to check on mum or when we visited which was normally once a week. Our mum was a challenge with her vascular dementia and mood swings that this brought. The staff worked with mum and involved us with helping to manage these times.
We lost mum to this awful disease on Christmas Day. The staff at Pine Lodge could not have shown more compassion and support for our loss and theirs too.

The family are extremely pleased with the level of care given to my wife’s mother. Having experienced residential care in another home over 30 years ago, for my own late father, and the current negative press you hear in the media about these type of homes, I was very apprehensive before she came to
Pine Lodge. Within days of her arriving we all felt and saw the care and love the staff and management team give to their residents. There seems to be staff around her all the time to meet all her needs, day or night. All the staff seem to go that extra mile to make them all feel wanted and part of a bigger family unit. We couldn’t thank you enough for what you’ve done for her plus taking a huge worry off her family. We can all sleep at night knowing she is safe and receiving the best possible care. Thank you so much. To anyone looking for a good level of care should view Pine Lodge first before they make a decision.

I have found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The managers also as when my father died they treated us as though they were also a part of the family with nothing but respect and care. We were so glad we chose this home and have no regrets at all.

I honestly don't know what would have happened if I didn't have Pine Lodge. Living in a different country and having a Mum with dementia is traumatic enough. Knowing she is loved, cared for, part of the Pine Lodge family, allowed me the peace of mind to visit and leave her knowing she is well cared
for is priceless. The garden is beautiful. The rooms comfy. The staff are amazing! Thank you.

When I visit or telephone a carer is always able to give me an up-to-date account of how my mother is. She is treated with love and respect. But she would value more one-to-one time with staff but they always seem so busy.

My father spent the last four years of his life at this care home, growing gradually more frail until he passed away there. He was as happy there as it is possible to be in a care home. The single most important factor in his contentment was the staff. They are so caring, gentle, friendly yet professional
and they appreciated and responded to his sense of humour. Nothing was too much trouble, however dependant he became. They couldn't have done more for him.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.121)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.121) out of 10 for Pine Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.458 for Pine Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.458

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.663 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pine Lodge Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.763

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
