My mum has only been here for a few months but from the very first day, we were made to feel welcome by ALL the staff. I feel happy and content that my mum is being well looked after here. All of the staff are so kind and friendly, they also have a lovely lady that organises activities. The food is
very nice, I have stayed for lunch with mum a few times.

My mother has been in the above care home since the beginning of December last year. My mum had always had a fear of going into a home.
Six months later even though my mum has vascular dementia she is telling me how wonderful it is how all the girls are nice and she has a wonderful room. She is nearly
97 and it is a great relief to my sister and myself that she is happy. All the residents tell me how happy they are when I talk to them and I am sure this rubs off on everyone.

Mum recently passed away at 'The Pines' Sittingbourne from cancer, she also had dementia. The staff were amazing. My brother and I stayed with mum from the Friday until Monday morning, when sadly mum passed away.
No matter what was going on elsewhere it was as though our mum and ourselves were the
only ones there. The care given to mum was first class, we were told everything that was happening. Mum was treated with such dignity and love. The staff all worked so well together, a good team. Mum was in 'The Pines' for one year, absolutely first class care.

My mother has been a resident of Pine Lodge since 10th December 2015. After visiting many care homes in the area, we decided this was the right home for her. Since she has been there her health has improved 100%. She has put on 2 stone in weight and is very happy, the care she receives is excellent.
The food is very good, the managers are always very helpful and the door of the office is always open. This is my mums forever home.

My Aunt has now been a full-time resident at Pine Lodge for 15 months. I have been really pleased with the quality of care they provide. The home is well staffed, the carers are extremely attentive and the home always seems to have a nice atmosphere every time I visit. My aunt seems very content there.
Her room is always kept very clean and tidy and the eating, resting and health care facilities are very good. I'm also very impressed by the lengths the home goes to, to lay on interesting activities and visitors for the residents.
I have no hesitation in recommending Pine Lodge.

The care home staff, both managerial and on the floor were always welcoming whenever I or other relatives arrived to visit Mum. They were caring and thoughtful to Mum's needs and to ours. I felt that Mum and Dad were safe, well looked after and gave me and my family a confidence that they were getting
a caring and kind time in their later years. The care home treated Mum and Dad with dignity, always using their first names, and of course making sure that they addressed them with their chosen names.
Although Mum and Dad chose not to get involved in the activities, there were always activities going on. They always made sure that they were together, as for them this was most important that they could be together. Pine Lodge was able to offer a double room for them to share and be together in their later life and for them this was most important.

The staff at Pine Lodge have treated my aunt very well, we experienced some problems when my aunt went from full self-funding to council aid funding but once these problems were sorted out we have nothing but praise for Pine Lodge.

My father was in Pine Lodge on respite for several weeks whilst my mother was in hospital, he was well looked after by the staff.

My aunt was a resident living with dementia for 4 years. The atmosphere in the home was always friendly. The home is clean and fresh, food is varied and choice is always

offered. Palliative care was excellent and the staff and management team were very supportive.

I travelled from Ashford to Sittingbourne to see my friend where the staff always offered me a cup of tea and were friendly and caring to my friend. The management were very informative in regards to any questions I had. In particular, the member of staff who organises the activities worked hard to
ensure my friend was involved in whatever activity was going on at the time.

My mother was a resident for two years and I found the care she was given was excellent . The staff were attentive and so friendly , almost felt like family.
The home itself was always clean and tidy and the meals served were like those from a hotel restaurant .
There was always something for my
mother to do and as her dementia unfolded she loved all the singing and music. My mother could be cantankerous but this never seemed to faze the staff.

My mother has been in Pine Lodge for 3 and a half years. I have generally been happy with the care provided. The food and entertainment are excellent and the rooms are always clean and tidy. I attend the relatives meeting and the question of families not attending review meetings has been mentioned
on several occasions and I have stated that we have not been informed of these and still haven't.
I mentioned that I was not happy with the state of the lounge as the carpet looks dirty and it's sometimes smelly. The curtains look old. We have had to complain about the fact that mum's nails have not been cut and were dirty, and also that her skin has not been creamed as instructed.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.121)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.121) out of 10 for Pine Lodge Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 10 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.458 for Pine Lodge Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (62 Excellents x 5) + (51 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 120 Ratings = 4.458

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.663 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Pine Lodge Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 59 registered maximum number of service users is 11.8. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.8 = 0.763

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
