Tralee Rest Home is a residential home registered to provide care for elderly people. The Home is situated in the beautiful seafront town of Whitstable, Kent. It is a stones throw away from the town centre and harbour. Tralee Rest home is made up of two joint detached houses with a purpose built dementia friendly extension, added in 2013. The Home has recently undergone refurbishment and majority of the bedrooms benefit from having their own private en-suite facility. It is conveniently located close to all local amenities and transport links.

The owners want Tralee Rest Home to be thought of as a home away from home. Staff are highly motivated and consistently go the extra mile in assisting the residents to live life to the full potential. They are always encouraging and enabling residents to use the facilities to maintain an independent and a fulfilled life.

As well as quality care, residents have an active lifestyle supported, with many interesting dates organised for their benefit, while the home's philosophy is to maintain dignity and respect at all times. Bedrooms are en-suite and special diets are catered for, while specialised hoists help those with mobility issues.

My dad initially went to Tralee for respite; he is now a full-time resident. He has severe vascular dementia. His life has grown in ways that we never thought possible, thanks to the manager and her dedicated staff. Life at Tralee is fun and stimulating, and my dad is a prime example of their excellent
work.

The care that my husband receives at Tralee is outstanding. Although at the moment visits are difficult and sometimes not able to go ahead at all, my consolation is that he is getting such good care from all the staff. I am kept up to date with photos and videos, and the manager has set up a WhatsApp
group for next of kin to keep us informed; I even had reassurance from her on a Saturday evening when I was concerned.
The residents are kept entertained with an endless variety of activities, they’ve celebrated, danced, sung and crafted through these difficult times, and I feel grateful that my husband is with such lovely, kind people.

Since my mother-in-law moved into Tralee earlier this year the manager and her staff have gone out of their way to make her feel welcome and to keep us involved in her care. My mother-in-law appears much happier and settled than she was prior to her moving in. The staff are so caring and there is a
lovely atmosphere in the home. Staff have a good knowledge of the resident’s life history and hobbies, they use this to plan a wide range of activities and have kept the residents well entertained during the lockdown. I would not hesitate to recommend Tralee to anyone looking to move into a care home.

For eighteen months, Tralee was Nanny’s home. During that time, we all became part of the Tralee family, and there’s no better word for the staff - the compassion and care is all the greater because it’s delivered with genuine love.
It’s a happy home - every day is full of stimulating and fun activities,
and the staff are kindness itself.
I would recommend Tralee without hesitation.

My mother has received excellent attention since her arrival at Tralee Rest Home in January, when at the time she had certain health issues which caused concern, however, with the highly capable manage together with her team, these issues were acted upon extremely quickly and the necessary treatments
given or recommended. Overall the staff are always kind and patient and friendly in all situations.
The standard of food and drink cannot be faulted either in its variety or content.
I think that the cleanliness and warmth of the home make it a welcoming environment for patients and visitors alike.

The trauma of placing a loved one into a care home is a devastating experience but Tralee has gone that extra mile on so many occasions. The guvnor, as my dad calls her, is the best and her staff are brilliant in the care and love they give the inmates, as my dad calls them. I am sure we will have hiccups
along the way but I am also certain that they will be dealt with efficiently and with kindness, care and love. A big, big thank you.

I moved in, in February 2018. I have enjoyed every second of it. I have decorated my room exactly how I liked it. My sister visits often and is made to feel very welcome. The staff are excellent and always up for a sing-song. I complained that my Zimmer was boring so they decorated it and even put a
glitterball on it because I love to dance. I am so happy that I found Tralee, it is my home from home.

My husband has been a resident of Tralee care home for 5 months now, and in that time he has been treated with care and compassion. That care and compassion has also been extended to myself. There is a wonderful family feel to the home. I would recommend the home to anyone without reservation. All the
staff work very hard and keep a friendly, approachable attitude at all times.


I feel very fortunate that my husband and I found Tralee.

All staff are very kind and have lots of patience. Staff are very obliging. We can walk around the home and go to my mother's room when I want to. When I phone, its never too much trouble to answer my questions about my Mum. Nothing seems too much bother. My Mum appears to be settled and enjoys the
interaction from staff and fellow residents. The Manager is around for us to talk to and has made my mother's transition into a care home a good experience.

We are very lucky to have found such a wonderful home for my Mother where the staff are so engaging and kind. This afternoon was yet another opportunity for music, singing and dancing, a real party atmosphere, this followed by party food. This afternoon was in support of a Cancer Charity when Staff,
Clients and Visitors dressed in Pink including pink wigs. The staff worked so hard to make sure that everyone had a really happy and good time. We were all encouraged to join in and it was so wonderful to witness this. Thank you.

Since my grandad moved to Tralee he has made friends and has become a lot more sociable. I was worried about dementia because you only hear the bad things, but Tralee is a lively, happy place and the staff answer any questions that I have. I am impressed with the improvement in my Grandad. He now has
a purpose in life. He even helps the handyman with little jobs. I can't find any faults. I enjoy visiting Tralee.

I have every confidence in the care provided. The staff at the home manage my husband splendidly. He always looks neat and tidy and he is really well cared for. The staff are all lovely and will speak to me about any concerns I may have. The manager's door is always open.

I am happy and pleased with the home. My brother is in Tr and I visit when I can. It is always clean and homely. The staff are lovely and kind and show such compassion to my brother.
I would recommend Tralee to people. It has really improved under new management.

Vicky

Vicky Styles

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2017

Vicky has been with Tralee for nearly 6 years. She started her career with us as a senior carer then progressed to deputy manager and then took up the role of the manager in April of this year.
Vicky is dedicated to the health and well-being of her residents and staff.
She prides herself on running a friendly, loving home. She has the support of a brilliant team some of which have dedicated over 15 years of their lives to loving and caring for the residents of Tralee.
Vicky has gained her NVQ level four training and has undergone training in Dementia care and End of life care.
She has a busy life outside of Tralee being a single mum to four beautiful children and a dog!
Vicky has a very close relationship with residents, staff and families, all of which are aware of Vicky’s open-door policy where she offers chat and reassurance, she is also always available for a hug!


Sandra

Sandra Luckhurst

Job Title: Head of Care

Sandra started her career at Tralee nearly 20 years ago.


She is a massive asset to Tralee. She goes above and beyond for the residents and families every day.
Nothing is ever too much trouble for Sandra. Sandra states she wants to be part of a home that she would be happy to place her mum in’ we are lucky that Tralee would be that home.


Sandra has gained her Level 3 NVQ in care and is currently undertaking her Level 4.


Outside of work, she loves to spend time with her daughter and granddaughter.
