Tudor Lodge is an attractive home located in the centre of Folkestone. The home is conveniently situated close to The Leas with beautiful sea views and seaside walks.

The home specialises in providing dementia care for older people. Referrals for people needing residential care are also considered.

Tudor Lodge benefits from large, spacious lounges and bedrooms, many of which have en-suite facilities. There are also three twin rooms for people who wish to share.

Dad was here as an assessment bed. We never felt he was treated as a temporary but as part of the family. Concerns were addressed and he has been happy here.

I don't think my father should ever have gone there. Within days of arriving, he deteriorated so much, he was unable to stand, his head had fallen back and he was unable to feed himself. He wore a gold ring on his hand, this went missing. I told the manager who said he would look into it. Then his wedding
ring went missing and the manager said he had put it in the safe to keep it safe. When my father left, he was unable to produce either.

Thank you for carrying out a review about our services. In regards to the Jewellery, we invited the family to the home to look through some jewellery at the home and they found the jewellery. With regards to the scoring that has been given on this review, I find this very unfair as we did everything possible for the resident and had positive feedback from health professionals during the best interest meeting we also had good feedback from the family that they were happy with the care that the home was providing and never once brought any concerns forward that we could address immediately. As an organisation we pride ourselves in taking any concerns seriously and take actions to mitigate the risk of it happening again, so we will be implementing things following this concern to improve the service.

My brother has been at Tudor Lodge since April 2018. In that time, I have had no worries about him and the care he is given. I feel that he is given the best care and attention possible. I am kept informed of everything appertaining him and his welfare. I am his only relative and live 200 miles away.
My visits to him are always unseduced, so I get a true picture of the way things are. I have been extremely pleased with what I find each time. The staff and management are all very good at what they do. I could not wish him to be better looked after.

My Aunt has dementia and spends most of her time in bed, but the staff regularly check on her, and she has TV and CDs which she likes to watch and listen to. She is well looked after and cared for and seems happy in herself. I live 200 miles away so only see her every few months, and longer still now
because of covid, but the Home Manager keeps me updated on any developments and I call in regularly for a general update. My aunt also loves flowers so I have an M&S parcel post bouquet delivered every other week and the staff arrange and place them where my Aunt can see them. Overall, I am happy that my Aunt is getting the care she needs.

My mum settled in to Tudor Lodge much quicker than we all thought.
She seems happy on most of our visits and telephone calls. She has made a few friends who she loves to talk about.
It's been a difficult time as she went in just after the first lockdown so we had garden visits in the summer and
then the home prepared a nice room for visiting once it got colder, then we had another lockdown. Consequently, I am unable to review the home properly as we have not had access due to Covid.
The staff are friendly, approachable and caring and we are really pleased that she seems happy and settled.

My dad was moved to Tudor Lodge in difficult circumstances after being transferred out of hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Because I haven't been able to visit I can only comment after feedback from my father and my experience with contacting the care home by phone and in-person while taking
belongings for him.
I am very happy with the care my dad is receiving after chatting with him on the phone. He took a little time to settle in but I am happy that he was treated with kindness and respect while he was finding his feet. He likes the food which is plentiful and they make sure he is drinking enough.
When I have spoken to staff on the phone they are always pleasant and understanding and able to tell me how dad is getting on. He is not always the easiest to deal with but I believe the staff are very patient when dealing with his personal care.
I think all the staff at the home are doing an amazing job of keeping the residents happy and safe during a really hard time.

I have visited Tudor Lodge before lockdown started. My friend always looks happy and I am always asked if I would like tea or coffee and biscuits.
Staff seems so lovely and always happy to help, nothing is ever too much. The home looks clean and smells fresh.
Nice to see my friend settled.

Tudor Lodge staff really care well for my mum, her appetite has improved and when she does not feel like eating they always supply supplementary drinks.
On the occasions she has needed medical attention they have been very rapid to get the correct services for Mum and always keep me informed.
During
lockdown they have worked tirelessly to keep their residents well, doing a sterling job.
Under such unprecedented times, they have done a fine job, well done.
Only very slight comment, I do my Mum's laundry, collecting it every other day and on occasions, it has gone to the in house laundry, but considering the duress, the staff are working under regarding Covid-19, this is a very tiny mishap, which I know be resolved efficiently like any of my other requests.

The staff are very kind and patient. Management is available to answer questions. The fact that we can visit at any time gives us confidence that the care is consistent. We are always made to feel welcome and offered tea/coffee and biscuits to enjoy with my brother whilst we chat.

My mum and aunt have spent 2 weeks at Tudor Lodge in respite care. They enjoyed their time there and cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. They were able to share a room and we visited every day and were always impressed by the staff and care they received.

I like the home. We visited mum recently and we like to take her out and about.


The room is decorated nicely and roomy with family pictures and a TV. The food is good and my mum really likes her food. Lots of activities to keep them happy within the home. Some items of clothing do go missing from

time to time even though we put her name in them but that is to be expected in a large home.


The only downside is that we have to pay for everything as Social Services wouldn't help us enough financially. Even after my parents worked their whole lives, Social Services just doesn't give us enough funding whereas there are others that get full funding without having to do very much.


I do feel that the staff are saints with what they have to put up with. If I have any concerns, then I just speak to someone and it gets sorted quickley.

After removing my mother from another home after one year, we all as a family think we did the right thing. My mother is so happy and loves all the staff, and have noticed a big change in her. I am happy with what I see and hear whilst visiting Tudor Lodge. My friend, even with his dementia, seems happy and cared for. His room, when I've gone upstairs, is nice and clean. Staff are polite and show empathy when speaking to other residents. I am happy to see the building and outdoor areas are
being refurbished. I have only had one concern which was regarding another resident's aggressive behaviour which, I spoke to a staff member, she was aware of the situation, hence a one to one carer was allocated for the short time she was there. I have always maintained a good rapport with staff who I see are doing a very difficult job, hence the turnover earlier in the year, however, the staff seem to be settled (from what I see).
