We are blessed to have found The Vale. It is a calm home from home, the staff are so happy and caring and work really well as a team and have been so welcoming to both my father and myself. The home is comfortable, clean, airy and light with a selection of rooms to sit in with a relaxed atmosphere.
It is a pleasure to visit, my father, the staff and other residents. Dad has advanced dementia in the past he had been reluctant to be in a care home and not always happy to receive care at home, yet at The Vale he settled in almost immediately, after a week raising his hands and saying "this place is fantastic", "the food is good" (It certainly is) Last time I visited Dad was standing at the tea trolley enjoying the selection of biscuits, lovely to see him relaxed and really at home, his room is comfortable and pleasant. During visits the staff give me a brief update on how things have been and any needs which we find is a great way to communicate. Well done all, and grateful thanks.

The Vale is Dad's 3rd care home and definitely the best, the staff are very friendly and caring and know Dad's likes and dislikes very well. The home has a lovely warm atmosphere and nothing is too much trouble for all the staff, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Thank you.

My relative has been shown dignity, kindness and compassion by all the hard-working staff. I cannot thank them enough for the transition from her home and long-standing Hospital care into her new home.

My mother has been in The Vale Care Home for over a year. Staff are very caring and nothing is too much trouble. She has a very lovely room, the home is always clean. They have lovely meals and plenty of drinks and tasty snacks. She has made a very special friend, it’s so lovely to see them together.
I couldn’t have found anywhere better for my mum to stay.

The Vale has been amazing. Mum has been in the Vale since April 22 and made some lovely friends. I cannot fault the staff, nothing is too much trouble and are always on the end of the phone to answer any queries. I cannot recommend the Vale enough. Thank you all for looking after mum and making sure
she is happy. It is peace of mind for us all.

Dad has been at The Vale Care Home for over a year now, sadly his dementia has advanced during this time and he is now almost nonverbal. The staff and new manager are fantastic, finding ways to communicate with him and his reaction to them is a clear sign of just how they all understand him and his
ways and needs. He is such a quiet gentleman, so we worried he might just blend in and be forgotten when he couldn't communicate. Recently he had a short stay in hospital and staff came to do an assessment for him returning back to The Vale, Dad recognised her straight away and held onto her hand trying his best to follow instructions from her when he wasn't really engaging with hospital staff. Again this is a clear demonstration of how they take the time to engage with residents to really understand them. It truly makes the experience for us, as a family, so much easier seeing him content and genuinely cared for. Thank you.

The staff have been kind, caring and attentive throughout my husband's stay at the Vale. All the staff have gone out of their way to be helpful and nothing has been too much trouble for them. This has included caring for me too. I was particularly impressed that within a week of him being there, the
staff were talking to him about our grandchildren by name and commented that he always lit up when they were mentioned. There is a happy atmosphere and a homely feel.

I would like to say a massive heartfelt thank you to everyone at The Vale for making my Grandad feel so at home, happy and taking such good care of him during his two years spent there. My sister and I, searched long and hard to find the perfect home for our Grandad, and The Vale certainly was that.
The staff are caring, compassionate and loyal. Nothing was ever too much for them. When my Grandad was in his last few days, the staff cared and looked after us as a family just as much as they cared for Grandad, and for this, I’ll be forever grateful to them.
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Vale Care Home, they are all so welcoming. You can visit anytime day or night. The food is lovely with lots of choices, and the staff are truly amazing with the residents.

As a family, we spent a long time searching for the right home for my Dad, and The Vale was perfect for him. It has a very warm, friendly, homely feel, and the staff are all amazing. The food is excellent, and the home is always clean. Dad really enjoyed all the entertainment and the visits from the
barber. Dad lived there for nearly two and a half years, and we are so thankful to all the staff for their exceptional care of him and supporting us in his final days.

I would like to thank the manager and all of her staff at The Vale for their caring and friendly environment. My mother has lived at the Vale for several years now and in the past 10 months all the staff have helped my mother in this difficult time when she hasn't been able to hug me - keeping her
calm and well looked after.
I am very glad I found The Vale for my mother and am pleased with the friendly and kind environment that The Vale provides her with - I do not think my mother could be in a better place!

Every staff member at The Vale works hard to ensure that my mum is cared for at all times. We never feel the need to worry about my mum as we know that if there were any issues the staff would contact us or tell us on a visit.
We have been kept up to date when policies have changed and never feel out
of the loop. The Vale is a warm and friendly home that is run by staff who put the residents first. I personally am grateful to be able to visit Mum and know that staff go out of their way to accommodate visits, even in these strange times.
A great safe place for any person to reside in.
Thank you to all staff.

My mother has degenerative dementia and can only manage with high levels of care. She is happy and content in The Vale and has never complained about her care or treatment. During this last year she has been kept safe from Covid and certainly, at 90, she would not have survived if still living in the
community. Although we have had only weekly window visits we have no reason to be concerned about her care. Although isolated from her real family during this unusual year we know she is happy with her new Vale family.

My aunt has been living at The Vale for four years. My brother and I chose the home for its kind, friendly staff, and the happy atmosphere in the lounge. Importantly, she is happy, always well cared for, and loves the carers. When we could visit, I would turn up unannounced, and always received a warm
welcome. I've been impressed with the knowledge and understanding of my aunt's developing dementia, and always touched by the staff's compassion. That is always shown to her, but I've experienced it myself too, when I was bereaved a couple of years ago. I have often been impressed at the calm atmosphere in the home, which accommodates people who can get agitated or confused; the staff are on hand immediately when someone needs reassuring. I like the practice of staff completing paperwork in the lounge, so they are present, and can help quickly. No regrets about choosing The Vale for my aunt. It is her home, and I dearly hope she is able to stay there as long as she needs a place to live.

The decision to move Mum into a care home was really difficult, however, once my Mum moved into The Vale, I found the staff supportive towards her, helping her with her day-to-day living.
The manager is approachable, and nothing is ever too much trouble.

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.417)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.417) out of 10 for The Vale Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.817 for The Vale Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (58 Excellents x 5) + (13 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 71 Ratings = 4.817

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Vale Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
