Whitfield Residential Home is an attractive care home in the quiet village of Whitfield for up to 29 older people who have dementia care needs. The home is on the edge of the countryside with good links to the port of Dover.

You will find a friendly, homely and welcoming atmosphere with a good range of communal space and many of the bedrooms with en-suite facilities. There are also three twin rooms for people who wish to share.

A dedicated activities co-ordinator provides a lively and interesting range of entertainment with many activities arranged every week.

An excellent selection of traditional, home-cooked meals are prepared by the cook every day catering for all diets.

They have an experienced and well-trained team of staff who provide person-centred, individualised care.

My mum seems to have settled really well at Whitefield, she especially likes sending time and chatting with the staff and some residents. It is still early days but mum seems happy most of the time. I'm happy so far with the care she is provided.

My father stayed here for two weeks respite during his Social Services care assessment. Poor care and not enough staff leading to neglect of service users. The place felt dirty and I could not sit up in my father’s room due to the horrendous smell. Several service users not washed and dressed and left
in nightclothes in the middle of the day. I saw no interaction from the staff and had to complain about films and radio being unsuitable for this age group. I was very pleased when my father was moved!

I visit the home at least 3 times per week and my wife is always clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the home is always clean. My wife's room is en-suite and always clean and tidy and I am very happy in the way the staff to attend to her needs.

My mother has always received appropriate care with kindness and respect. Her needs are all met and staff treat her with empathy and warmth.
The home is always clean and fresh and there is always plenty going on. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are always welcoming.

A very clean, well maintained and run residential home.
Very high level of attention to care of residents and commitment but staff. Food is excellent with attention to individuals needs.
Personal cleanliness for residents is a priority. Communal areas are clean and odour free and in good repair,
bright in colour and well lit. Facilities available are good and of interest. A warm welcome is always available as is tea and biscuits.

My mum is a resident at Whitfield EMI/Residential Home. Mum is settled and contented here, she has made good relationships with the staff who are very caring and sensitive to her needs, they always offer refreshments for our family when we visit mum and are ready to give updates on mums mental and physical
condition. I feel contented when I leave mum that she is safe and well cared for. Thank you to all staff.

My mother spent seven months in Whitfield Residential Home and I found the standard of care excellent.
The staff always found time to talk to myself and my mother and were first rate.
I cannot thank them enough for all they did for her.
The home was always clean, is bright and cheerful with a range
of activities and has a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
The only drawback was that the menu wasn't to my mother's liking, she is very fussy, but the staff worked with me to ensure she had a good diet.
It is the staff that make a home and these guys are first rate - helpful, caring and dedicated.
Couldn't have asked for better.

My mother come to the home on 27/10/15, it took her a while to settle as she had a very quiet living on her own in a small village. Every effort was made to give her a quieter time, she was also encouraged to make a friend of another resident. Every effort was made by staff to give her excellent care,
give her privacy when needed and to join in the activities on offer, which were very varied and regular. The staff and manager are all approachable, keep me well informed of any problems and issues. The standard of food is good and she is encouraged to drink regularly. If she is ill or a problem arises they always contact me. Following a recent stay in hospital despite being discharged when not fit for this they have done all in their power to keep her in the home and provide everything they can to help her get better.

Lesley has worked in the care industry for over twenty-five years and has held the title of Care Home Manager at Whitfield Residential Home since 2018. She holds a Level 5 qualification in Health & Social Care (equivalent to a Foundation Degree) & a Registered Manager's Award (RMA).


Lesley is a compassionate and dedicated home manager and takes pride in making Whitfield a nurturing environment where residents feel valued, safe and supported.
