The care home and care my father is receiving is great. My father likes it there and enjoys the food provided. The staff are all caring and very good. The only negative is the shabby exterior.

My mother has been a resident at Brambling House EMI/Residential Home since March 2015. Her care has been second to one. The staff are very supportive, helpful and very welcoming. Brambling House EMI/Residential Home was the right placement for Mum as it's a home from home. Mum can be a little difficult
at times due to her condition but the love and care she receives makes us so happy as it was heart-wrenching to leave her here, but we know she is as happy now as she can be. Well done to the management and all staff.

My husband moved into the nursing home earlier this year and apart from a few teething problems (literally with his teeth) he has settled in extremely well. The staff are really helpful, caring and really do go that extra mile to make sure he is happy and that makes us very happy knowing he is so well
cared for. The only downside to the nursing home is the driveway, it really is a motorist nightmare. Not sure what happens in the winter!!

Reply from Sue Fuller, Mama at Brambling House Care Home

We're so sorry about our driveway, I will see if there is anything we can do.

The staff at Brambling House are what make the place. Since my Dad has been looked after there they have proved to be the kindest and most caring people we could have wished to be looking after him. Nothing is too much trouble. They are there not just to look after my dad, they also take care of us
too. They are angels in our lives and I wish I could do something to show them how much I appreciate them.

Mum has only recently arrived at Brambling House as an emergency placement, Mum appears to have settled well. The staff have been very welcoming and helpful. They treat mum as an individual and involve us and mum in her care.

My mother-in-law has been looked after with much love and care. The staff are both professional and warm in their dealings with the residents. The staff are also good at keeping family members informed of developments, allowing for frank yet easy discussions around care issues.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.472)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.472) out of 10 for Brambling House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.772 for Brambling House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 79 Ratings = 4.772

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Brambling House Care Home is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
