Victory Care Home provides affordable high-quality residential care for older people with dementia, sensory and physical impairment, including end-of-life and palliative care.

CQC has given Victory a rating of ‘good’ right across the board (April 2017).

As Victory was purpose-built as a care home in 1984 all communal spaces and bedrooms are on one accessible floor.

Victory is divided into four ‘wings’, all named after ships that were at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. HMS Victory (best known for her role as Lord Nelson’s flagship) was built in nearby Chatham Historic Dockyard. Neptune and Swiftsure each have their own lounge/dining room and a kitchenette, where care staff prepare snacks, and visitors and the more able residents can help themselves to a cuppa. Sirius has its own lounge, and Orion has a large lounge/dining room for Sirius and Orion residents. Parties and group activities are held in Orion.

There are 51 single bedrooms. All rooms have en-suites or washbasins in the room. Rooms without en-suites have accessible toilets and bathrooms nearby. Many of the bedrooms look out onto one of the three courtyard gardens.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own photos and furniture. Personal possessions help residents feel at home and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence.

Victory was one of the first Agincare care homes to paint each bedroom door a different colour. Together with a number and door knocker, this makes the door more recognisable for the resident of that room.

Our relative was recently admitted to Victory Care Home. We were able to personalise his room with his own bed and all of his pictures, photos, ornaments and mementos which has helped him to feel at home. The staff are all friendly and genuinely care for the residents. The care home is clean and homely
and he is enjoying the food - so much so that if it’s near mealtimes and we are visiting he says goodbye and heads off to sit down. Access to the enclosed courtyard provides a safe environment to get fresh air at any time but also for controlled visits as per the COVID restrictions. The management team are attentive and happy to answer any questions you have especially at the beginning of this process which is reassuring. They can provide regular feedback on how your loved one settling in. Another encouraging element is the technology used to monitor and maintain each resident to ensure consistent care. Our loved one is safe, protected but more importantly cared for and happy.

I have visited the care home three times now and each time the staff have been really friendly and caring not only to mum but also to myself.
I have thought how clean the care home is no matter what time I visit.

My father-in-law has been in Victory Care Home now for three years and is very happy there. The quality of care is excellent and the staff are very, very caring. We can't recommend it highly enough. Even in these unprecedented times the love and care for the residents by the staff has never waned and
the fact that only a handful of residents tested positive for Covid-19 and all recovered speaks volumes for the measures that are in place to control this deadly virus. Well done and a huge thank you to all the dedicated hard-working people that keep all the residents safe. Be loud and proud because you all deserve huge praise.

My nan was admitted three weeks ago and I honestly can’t thank these carers enough in the Victory Care Home Assessment unit. These guys have looked after my nan and showed her the utmost care and support even during Covid-19 they have kept her spirits up and made her smile. Although due to these circumstances
we can’t visit her but with the help of two members of staff, they make sure we are kept up to date with everything that’s happening and allow us to speak to nan whenever we like.
A very special thankyou to the lovely lady who goes out of her way in everything she does, even if nan takes her frothy coffees, haha! Never have I met someone that’s so committed to her job as much as you. Thank you.

Also a thankyou to the lovely Kim who follows suit in Claire and is also exceptional in everything she does.

Use ladies deserve a medal and so much more!

Thankyou for all your support from us as a family and nan Mary xx

I was recommended Nelson Court, (based at Victory Care Home) by a friend who's mother was there previously. It certainly is, as great as they told me. The staff cannot do enough, they are so supportive, lovely and it really has a family feel. My mum is happy, content and cared for. She is kept busy
with an amazing activities lady. Food is great, rooms are clean and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend.

If I ever needed care, this is where I would like to be. Victory is a true home from home with dedicated, kindly and ever cheerful staff and plenty of them. Everyone has a personal room with ensuite shower etc and the communal areas are welcoming and well maintained. There is plenty of song and participation
for those who want to and two quiet areas - one a lovely garden for peace lovers. This is a model for the rest of the care world. Hurrah for Victor Care Home, the care paradise.

For my mum, this is a great place to be.
I have always found the staff to be good with her. I do really like the longer serving staff, they treat the residents so well. Hopefully, the newer staff will pick up the ways of the current staff to continue to make this a lovely care home.

My father moved into Victory Care Home around a year ago.
He has settled in very well and sees it as his home now helping with the washing up and the gardening. Dad has Alzheimer's and terminal cancer that sometimes causes him a lot of pain. The staff at Victory Care Home are very attentive and caring
and monitor dad regularly to ensure he is as comfortable as possible. It is an exceptional home staffed by exceptional people.

My dad has been here since March and I am very pleased with the care he has received. The staff are all exceptional, helpful, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. I feel happy if I cannot get to see my dad and I do visit him most days, that he is being well looked after.

Staff are really kind and helpful and very good with the residents - we have really appreciated this and this is the main thing. There also seem to be enough staff that residents are always being checked on. Overall, the home is clean and tidy and appears very well run. Would be great if a bit more
outdoor space were available and brighter lighting in the corridors. I believe some carpets are due to be replaced soon too which is good. Not sure which activities are on offer.

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.258)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.258) out of 10 for Victory Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.802 for Victory Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 91 Ratings = 4.802

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.456 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victory Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.656

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
