Victory Care Home provides affordable high-quality residential care for older people with dementia, sensory and physical impairment, including end-of-life and palliative care.

CQC has given Victory a rating of ‘good’ right across the board (April 2017).

As Victory was purpose-built as a care home in 1984 all communal spaces and bedrooms are on one accessible floor.

Victory is divided into four ‘wings’, all named after ships that were at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. HMS Victory (best known for her role as Lord Nelson’s flagship) was built in nearby Chatham Historic Dockyard. Neptune and Swiftsure each have their own lounge/dining room and a kitchenette, where care staff prepare snacks, and visitors and the more able residents can help themselves to a cuppa. Sirius has its own lounge, and Orion has a large lounge/dining room for Sirius and Orion residents. Parties and group activities are held in Orion.

There are 51 single bedrooms. All rooms have en-suites or washbasins in the room. Rooms without en-suites have accessible toilets and bathrooms nearby. Many of the bedrooms look out onto one of the three courtyard gardens.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms with their own photos and furniture. Personal possessions help residents feel at home and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence.

Victory was one of the first Agincare care homes to paint each bedroom door a different colour. Together with a number and door knocker, this makes the door more recognisable for the resident of that room.

Our father was admitted at short notice as an emergency placement we were concerned that we had not been able to check the facilities but needn't have worried. The property is well maintained, the staff are wonderful, so kind and patient. Dad can be quite challenging but he is always treated with respect
and care. His health has improved considerably since he arrived. The staff need recognition for going 'above and beyond' regularly to make Dad feel settled.

This is a very good care home. Staff are friendly, patient and caring. They know their residents strengths and weaknesses because they make a great effort to get to know each individuals. Difficult moments are treated sympathetically. The home is clean and welcoming. It is common to arrive and find
entertainment sing songs etc. A retired greyhound visits most weeks to the delight of the residents. My mum is in very good hands!

My husband is well cared for and I have no worries on that score. All the carers are kind, cheerful, caring and do their best to maintain a happy atmosphere. He has now been in the home for over a year and whenever he has had a problem i.e like falling, I am always advised that this has happened or
my son is advised.

My mum has lived at Victory for just over a year now, when she moved in mum was very difficult, all the staff at the home seemed to know just how mum was feeling and what to do to make her feel at home, now mum is happy. Activities are very good. They have home made cakes every day. Mums dignity is
always very good and all of the staff are really caring and very helpful at all times.

My mother has spent nearly 18 months in Nelson Court Chatham before her recent death. The family found the home very good. We visited between us 5 or 6 times a week and were always impressed by her care. The staff were very kind and attentive and nothing was too much trouble for the management. I would
recommend it to anybody. In fact as I am 71 myself I have booked a room there when I need it!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.258)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.258) out of 10 for Victory Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.802 for Victory Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (74 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 91 Ratings = 4.802

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.456 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Victory Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 61 registered maximum number of service users is 12.2. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.2 = 0.656

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
