Rochester Care Home has created a relaxed and homely environment for all residents.

The building is single-storey and purpose-built with four areas. Each area had 14 bedrooms around a lounge/diner. Residents are welcome to join in activities in any of the areas. There’s plenty of space to sit outside at Rochester – residents have a choice of gardens and courtyards to enjoy.

CQC has given Rochester a rating of ‘Good’ (March 2017).

There are 56 bedrooms at Rochester. Many of the bedrooms look out or have direct access to one of the gardens.

All rooms have en-suites or washbasins in the room. The rooms without an en-suite have accessible shower rooms and bathrooms nearby.

Each bedroom’s front door is a different colour, with a door knocker, which makes it more recognisable. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms.

Personal possessions help residents feel at home, and provide extra stimulation and time for reminiscence. They also give staff an important understanding of a resident’s personality, history and what’s important to them.

Trips out include the garden centre, and even the pub on occasion, if that’s what residents choose to do that day.

Animals are always really popular visitors at Rochester. As well as therapy dogs, they have larger four-legged friends in. On a sunny day, the garden is a great spot for residents to have an ice cream, followed by cuddles with a Shetland pony or a donkey!

Rochester has church visits every week and often have local schoolchildren coming into sing. A local consultant and his family come and volunteer.

All the staff have been amazing in caring for my mother. Nothing has been too much trouble for them. We are made to feel so welcome every time we visit. They are one big family, and we feel part of that family. Being able to see photos of Mum on social media is fantastic, and she is always smiling.
Thanks to you all for what you do - and to the manager for looking out for my dad when he visits.

Visited Mam in the home, lovely place Mam is in. People are friendly, staff are very helpful and approachable. The manager is very helpful with questions we needed answers to.
Mam is very happy in the home, she joins in all activities and tells some good stories to the staff. Mam is safe, has 24/7
care and that gives me peace of mind that my mam is well cared for and looked after.

It is such an anxiety when you choose a care facility for a loved one. We fell on our feet with Rochester Care Home. They really cared for my uncle. He was so happy. He had activity sessions and celebrated special occasions. The staff cared for him, danced and sang with him and were wonderful with us
too.

From when my mother-in-law entered the home, the staff have treated her with respect and kindness. When we visited, prior to her moving in, she was introduced to the chef to see if she would like the food; she did! She has now been a resident for a few years and she loves the various entertainment and
fun things they do. She loves the staff and the friends she has made.

Great home, well kept, great staff very helpful, residents well looked after, clean, tidy and nice rooms for a bit of privacy if needed. Good facilities and various activities for residents, glad we got this home for my mum.

It was my mother in laws 100th birthday this month and my husband and I would like to thank the staff for making it a very special day. From start to finish the residents joined in games and singing, were treated to a fantastic spread and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. The carers at Rochester treat
the residents with respect and support the families through difficult times. Thank you all.

Rochester Care Home makes myself and other family members feel welcome, even when COVID is present and visiting suspended we have always been contacted via telephone with any updates on my mother.

My mother was 100 this month. The staff, led by the manager, gave her the most wonderful day. They went above and beyond and my family can't thank them enough for making an already special occasion, more special. I want to thank you for all the care and support you gave my mum while she was there with you!
Every time I came up to visit Mum all the staff were kind and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble.
When I've been there with Mum the staff were always bringing drinks around for residents and constantly
checking that they were drinking them as well!
Some would be doing exercises, some would be going for a haircut, there was always something going on which was nice to see!
I must also say how clean I always found the place which must be difficult with all that has to be done in the day!
You all showed the utmost respect, kindness and care to her during her final weeks of life.
It was comforting to know that Mum was very happy living there!
A big thank you to you all.

My mum is a resident at Rochester Care Home and was recently in hospital for almost three weeks following a fall. She was in bed for most of the time and did not get much physio to help her walk. Rochester Care Home came to assess her to see if she could return to the home, but she was asleep and could
not be roused. The hospital then told them that she would need to be moved to a nursing home. We disagreed and asked if Rochester Care Home would come to do another assessment. Mum has advanced dementia and has problems with her speech, so we wanted her to return to Rochester Care Home where she knows the staff and they are aware of her needs. Rochester Care Home did another assessment and agreed to take her back, so she is now back in familiar surroundings with people she recognises. We are very relieved that we did not have to move her to somewhere new, which would have been very stressful for her, and for us.

My mother is a resident at this care home. She is well cared for, and any illness or injury is quickly dealt with. She is always clean and nicely dressed. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.

Mum is well looked after and cared for in this comfortable home. They keep us informed and have a useful regularly-updated presence on social media. It's particularly useful that you can video call a resident. Life events are celebrated, and visitors are welcomed.

I am deeply grateful to the manager and the dedicated team of carers at Rochester Care Home who have looked after my cousin so wonderfully these last two years. The epidemic has obviously added enormously to their burden, but their care hasn't faltered for a second. Amazing! The recent easing of visiting
restrictions meant we were at last able to celebrate my cousin's 99th birthday appropriately. The Rochester Care Home team were fabulous, providing decorations, birthday cake and even afternoon tea for our little party. To add to the fun, at long last they were able once again to welcome outside entertainment in the form of an excellent singer and saxophonist to perform for the residents and visitors alike. There was quite a lot of singing and even a little dancing, with the staff making sure everyone had a fine time. They put so much time and effort into the occasion and should be very proud of themselves for creating such a delightful day. Thank you so much for making my cousin's birthday so special.

After the past two years, it was a joy to see the long awaited relaxing of the Covid restrictions allowing the enthusiasm of the staff to celebrate chance occasions. Their kindness and thoughtfulness in sharing festivities for my visit from afar to see my Godmother/cousin, and for a long term dear friend
[to both her and to the care home] was a delight.


The lovely staff show constant care for my almost 99yr old - and she has responded so very well, including through one or two ups and downs health-wise, and is indeed really happy and content. She continues to love the meals, has her hair done regularly, and so enjoys visits from friends and family.
I do appreciate the patience and welcome too that I receive from the manager and her staff.

My mother has never been so happy and settled. She is most of all safe in the care of the staff who have been absolutely amazing - they have coped so well during Covid and have worked so hard, I cannot thank them enough for their care and attention not only with my mother but me as well. Like many of her generation, my mother-in-law valued her independence and feared the prospect of long-term care, however because of her deteriorating health she recently had to move into Rochester Care Home. The care that my mother-in-law has received has been of the highest standard and the staff are
all friendly, helpful, and attentive. The home itself is very clean, well maintained and the food is very good. However, most importantly my mother-in-law is safe, warm, and her general health has greatly improved, it’s great to see her looking so much better, so much more like her old self. That is really a testament to the quality of this home, so thank you to the Manager and your team for providing such excellent care and looking after her so well
