The specialist home environment has been designed to enhance the quality of life for people in their later years and incorporates features to promote reminiscence as therapy. This welcoming home is set in the attractive rural village of Adderbury, close to Banbury and offers residential, early-stage dementia and respite care.

The home has been designed with your wellbeing and comfort in mind. Cosy lounges are available to relax in, as are secure gardens to take advantage of sunny days and social activities take place daily for your enjoyment. If you would like a little more privacy, they have a family room and a summer house that both offer a peaceful oasis for visitors.

A talented chef and kitchen team prepare tasty, home-cooked meals. The freshly prepared, delicious dishes are carefully balanced to get the best nutritional value, and cater for individual dietary requirements and preferences. Seasonal produce is chosen whenever possible and of course, relatives and friends are always welcome to join.

The menus change daily and the kettle is always on, so hot drinks are available throughout the day.

You are free to take your meals in your room if you wish or you can join other residents and day care visitors in the main dining hall to enjoy your food in a more social environment.

The dedicated Activities Coordinator organises a wide programme of events around each person's requests, hobbies and interests. Staff will be delighted to assist you to continue with existing hobbies, as well as give you the opportunity to try something new if you would like to.

They make sure everyone can enjoy themselves to the fullest, be that with arts and crafts, a coffee morning or more individual pursuits. Visits from outside entertainers happen regularly and the home also has its own minibus for trips out and about. Each resident receives one-to-one time with the Activity Coordinator.

    services, they will tell you how much these goods and services
    will cost and they expect that you will pay for these goods and
    services at the time you request them.
    They can accompany loved ones to private appointments,
    however the fee attached to this is £21 per hour. Where private taxi
    services are used for transportation to appointments the cost should
    be paid for by yourself.

My wife arrived at Lake House in July 2016 after being at hospital for 4/5 months for a mental breakdown, after hopsital investigation internally. She still gets very agitated at times the mental health have finished with her now and she is at Lake House for Demtnia. The staff and conditions at Lake
House are very good in all they do.

I find that the care they give is given willingly with consideration of age and gender. They all try very hard to consider what is needed to help them to keep their dignity and self-respect.
There is always a happy feeling around the home. We could not ask for a better place for our father. Thank you

Poor standard taking my wife for one week to give me respite. Things lost, teeth, despite telling staff to be aware, shoes, trousers (one pair) had to do return trip for other items. Told I should have put a label on teeth by senior member of staff. How stupid is that, couldn't trust to give medication.
Admin is fine and helpful but others would not recommend.

My father has been in Lake House for respite care for a few weeks and I must say its made all the difference. At a time that was difficult for him to accept going to stay and having recently lost his wife of 62 years, the staff have made him feel at home and well cared for. Thank you to you all.

Mum has been at Lake House for ten months and is beginning to settle in and feel at home. The care is excellent and the staff work hard to meet her needs and always respond to requests and see to her well-being. I like the relaxed and friendly atmosphere around the home and family members are always
greeted with friendly smiles and can always approach staff about anything. Nothing is too much trouble. I can rely on Lake House informing me about mum's progress or any difficulties she might have. The activities don't always suit her, I think residents should be taken out to be more active but Lake House does what it can within their resources. The grounds are lovely and mum is able to work in the vegetable garden and is given some responsibility and is happy. I am confident we made a good choice in Lake House knowing she is happy and safe.

From the moment I stepped into Lake House I had a warm, positive feeling. The staff were welcoming, happy, having fun with the patients and always willing to help. I felt very comfortable with mum staying at Lake House. They catered for her every need, especially her wakeful nights where staff would
make her a cuppa and sooth her.
Thank you the management and all the wonderful staff at Lake House who always went above and beyond their roles.

My mum was recently taken to Hospital after the care home called an ambulance. She suffers with dementia and was very poorly when she was taken in. A member of staff came into the hospital on her day off the following day to see how she was (even though she was about to go on annual leave). Whilst
there she stayed to feed mum to ensure she had a friendly face that she knew. This is the sort of care given at Lake House, every member of staff goes above and beyond in the care for my mum and we appreciate it. I have passed the name of the carer in question who visited mum to the care home Manager but wished to put this information on the website as I believe it would be helpful to other people looking for an excellent home for their loved ones.

My wife first went to Lake House Adderbury as a day visitor on August 20th 2015. On the 19th October she stayed as a resident for one week. On the 29th October she became a permanent resident. I try to visit alternate days and have done since then, and cannot speak too highly of everything there. The
care and dignity given to the residents, the variety of meals, the entertainment provided with hands on things to keep residents alert and last, but not least, all of the staff without exception who care for them with patience and understanding. Only last week my wife and I celebrated our 60th Diamond Wedding Anniversary, they organised a surprise day for us with decorations dinner and entertainment and a lovely iced cake.

My father has had 3 weeks respite care in Lake House. He is not an easy person to deal with, but has been treated with courtesy and dignity. The staff are friendly and caring. They responded to all concerns promptly. They contacted me immediately when they had to call out the doctor, informing me regularly.
They have been observant, were able to reduce his blood sugar level through regular monitoring and good communication to all staff. We shall bring him back.

My overall impression and observation of the staff at Lake House is very positive. The residents are treated with kindness and compassion and their needs attended to promptly. The meals served are nutritious and well presented and help given when necessary. The staff are united in their desire to provide
excellent care, trained in administering residents medications and overall safety. The most important people, the residents, appeared contented to live in a happy family atmosphere.

My mother has been a resident for 6 months. During that period the care home has seen some improvement with better management a higher level of staffing and a more welcoming and comfortable environment. Communications with both residents and relatives has improved and day to day activities have increased
with more engagement with residents. Staff are friendly and caring. I do not have knowledge of other care homes so it is difficult to judge the standards. However my mother is happy here.

Happy with the carers as they all work very hard. The home is much improved but still needs the rest of the improvements finished i.e the bar. There are a lot of flies that are swarming about too, 10 were in my fathers room as he drops food and wets himself, so they seem to be around this. The food
is very good.

Mum has recently passed away and was treated with such love and compassion, she kept her dignity until the end. When she was first admitted she was able to enjoy and join in with the activities and even helped with the daily routine jobs and other clients needs. In the past year being very frail and
not really recognising her family - her "second family" took over where we could not help. She felt, loved and cared for right until the end. She could not have received better care anywhere!

Alexandra

Alexandra Grindle

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2018

Alexandra (Alex) joined the Trust in April 2018 as a Trainee Home Manager and quickly advanced to become the Home Manager of Lake House in December 2018.


Her career in care began in 2008 as a domiciliary carer. Over the years, Alex has progressed through various roles, eventually becoming a registered Domiciliary Care Manager. At that point, she decided to take her career in a new direction by applying her skills and experience to the care home sector. This led her to apply for and secure the Trainee Home Manager position. Alex holds a Level 5 qualification in Care Management and is currently pursuing a degree in social care through the Open University.


Outside of her role at Lake House, Alex enjoys spending time with her young family, walking her dog, and exploring the countryside.


Sarah

Sarah Chilton

Job Title: Admin Assistant

Joined: 2015

Sarah is Lake House’s Admin Assistant and will be the first to offer a very warm welcome to all visitors. She joined Lake House in 2015 and brought with her many years’ experience of working in care and nursing. Along with nursing qualifications, Sarah holds an NVQ Level 4 (Management) and Certificate in Health and Social Services Management.


Sarah enjoys the varied and busy nature of her role; whether she is organising staff rotas, reviewing residents’ financial accounts or meeting a new resident and their family, Sarah is often the go-to person for information in the home and she is always willing to assist where she can.


Sarah feels privileged to work in the residents’ home and is dedicated to fulfilling residents’ wishes, whether that involves popping to the shop for them or something as simple as making them a cup of tea. She even donned an Easter bunny onesie and hopped around the home for their Easter party. For someone who, by her own admission, “doesn’t do fancy dress”, this speaks volumes about the lengths that Sarah will go to for the home!


Jo

Jo Dixon

Job Title: Activity Coordinator

Joined: 2004

Jo has dedicated 31 years to the care profession, with 20 of those years spent at The Order of St John Care Trust, where she was recently honoured with a 20-Year Long Service Award.


She holds an NVQ Level 2 qualification in care and brings a wealth of experience to her role. In February 2023, Jo became the Activities Coordinator for Lake House. She develops a varied activity programme tailored to residents’ preferences and abilities, working closely with entertainers and involving the wider community to ensure fresh and engaging activities each week.


Jo’s energy and enthusiasm shine through in her work, and she loves bringing smiles and laughter to the residents every day.


Karla

Karla Jackson

Job Title: Chef

Joined: 2015

Karla joined in 2015 as a Kitchen Assistant and progressed to Cook in 2018. After completing her Level 3 qualification in Catering, Karla became Head Chef in 2023. Her passion for catering, particularly baking, has been a driving force throughout her career.


With previous experience as a carer, Karla has a deep understanding of the needs of the residents, which informs her approach to creating nutritious and enjoyable meals.


In her spare time, Karla enjoys going on holiday and is very family-oriented, especially close to her grandmother, niece, and nephew.


Daria

Daria Humphris

Job Title: Head of Care

Joined: 2000

Daria has dedicated 24 years to the care sector, beginning her career as a carer before progressing to Care Leader and eventually becoming Head of Care. Daria holds an NVQ Level 3 in Social Care and is also a certified Moving and Handling Trainer. In addition, she serves as the Medication Lead, ensuring safe and effective medication management across the service.


Originally from the Philippines, Daria came to the UK in 1988. Her passion lies in caring for and protecting residents, with a particular focus on supporting those living with dementia.


Outside of work, Daria enjoys cooking and spending time with her family, including her two sons and two grandchildren.


Shivam

Shivam Shivam

Job Title: Care Leader

Joined: 2021

Shivam joined the Trust three years ago as a Carer and was promoted to Care Leader after just four months. Before moving to the UK, Shivam spent 20 years in India serving as a paramedic in the air force, bringing a wealth of medical experience to his current role.


His wife is a nurse at the Horton hospital in Banbury, and together they relocated to the UK to continue their careers in healthcare.


Outside of work, Shivam is a passionate cricket fan and enjoys spending time with his children.
