Soup should be made available every day for supper meals. (Soup is a favourite for the older generation).
Better lighting in the rooms/corridors. (Stronger light bulbs).

My grandmother has been a resident of Furzehill Lodge since late 2017 and I am extremely pleased by the dedication, friendliness and professionalism of the staff. My grandmother is happy with overall care and activities on offer and that leaves us with peace of mind during our absence. Definitely recommend.

My friend moved from London and wanted to be in the Surrey area. After enquiring at various homes she decided that Furze Hill was the most appropriate. The staff and also the manager were most welcoming, she was so pleased with the room allocated to her. The food is very well done, the activities most
interesting and the manager is always there to solve one's problems if any. She is very happy. The gardens and atmosphere most pleasant and relaxing.

The managers and staff at Furze Hill Lodge are highly professional in their attitude to residents but also they are warm and caring people. My husband and I have witnessed their behaviour at first hand on many occasions over the last 7 years. The residents are very well looked after, clean and well
dressed. The manager and the senior nurse play a hands-on role with their Team. The Home is clean, fresh and cosy. The food is wholesome and appetising. Weekly activities are varied and keep the residents stimulated and happy. Our sister in law is very contented and the staff take time to talk to her and make her laugh. When she had to be taken to hospital, I noted the young carer accompanying her was comforting and chatting to her prior to my arrival. A sign of empathetic nature and good training in my view. I have already recommended the home. The standards are excellent and have never faltered in the time we have been visiting. We are reassured that our relative is so well looked after.

Very pleasant home with nicely kept garden.
My mother's room is kept clean and tidy and she always has clean clothes.
All the staff are really helpful and kind and my mother likes the food and seems content.

My father-in-law is now aged 98 years old and is extremely frail.
This month he is receiving "end of life" care.
The care given to him is exemplary - caring, considerate and providing dignity wherever possible.
The nursing required is not easy for the home in terms of staff involvement and time required
but they manage superbly.
The staff are supportive to me and keep me fully informed as to his mental and physical status.

The home is warm and clean and most of the staff are warm, kind and caring. It might be a nice idea to have a coffee/tea station so when visiting the visitor could make a drink for the resident and themselves.
The activities co-ordinator is excellent always friendly, chirpy, welcoming, friendly and
talkative to visitors.

As in all homes, there are a different quality of staff, some people will always get on better with one than another. The home, in general, is very nice. It could do with updating, particularly in decoration. My mother's room looks like it is from the 60's. The food, in general, seems to be good. The
staff always seem very accommodating to me.

The whole home is very clean but tired, in need to a coat of paint. The room is very small it is very difficult to open the wardrobe door. The majority of the staff are very kind and helpful in sometimes difficult circumstances. The tea time menu could be more interesting. The home is always lovely
and warm and the staff are very welcoming to visitors.

Job Title: Home Manager

My name is Thanusa and I have worked in care for 20 years now. My parents were both born in Sri Lanka, but I was born in France. At 16, I went to live with my grandparents in supported living which I adored. I was always helping the other people who lived there, and this really started my passion and career in care.
I started as a carer at a local care home and completed my first 2 NVQ’s. I then progressed to be a deputy manager in a residential care home. I decided to study for my Level 5 NVQ and went on complete a BA honour in health and social care to become a care home manager which was a personal goal for me.
I have now been at Furze Hill Lodge for just over 3 months where I am focused on providing an environment where the people who live at the home feel cared for, respected, and supported.
