Sadly my father has just passed away, both he and my mother were cared for here for the last 4 years. I cannot praise enough the care and support they received, the kindness of the staff towards them and the way that they were treated with dignity. I knew that they were safe at all times and I knew
that my parents were happy.

We consider it a privilege to have been able to care for both your Mother and Father they were a special couple. Thank you for your kind feedback, I will pass it on to the team.

From the first day Mum moved in all of the staff have been very friendly, helpful and caring.
A difficult adjustment for Mum was made very easy by the staff.
Woking Homes came recommended and we as a family have been very satisfied with the care and attention given to all the residents.
A definite
positive change in Mum since moving in is very encouraging for the family.

He is well looked after. Would like my brother to be taken out of his room in a wheelchair if he is unwilling to walk as at the moment he is spending too much time in his room alone.

Reply from Sarah Kemp, Chief Executive at Woking Homes

Thank you for your kind review. We endeavour to encourage residents to participate in activities or socialize with others and are more than happy to provide a wheelchair to enable them to do that. Ultimately sometimes despite our encouragement, some people choose to remain in their room. We will continue to encourage your brother and will keep you updated.

My sister, who is blind, deaf and has various other ailments has been a resident for 2 years. In that time her general health has improved immeasurably. The staff are kind and caring. The food is excellent and cooked on the premises with meat supplied by a local butcher and fruit and veg by a local
supplier. Although my sister can't participate, the home arranges various activities for residents and hold coffee mornings and parties throughout the year. They provide transport for doctor appointments (and hospital). My sister has flourished since becoming a resident and her laughter is infectious.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback which is important to us not only as a home but also as a team. Laughter is the best medicine and there is nothing better than to hear the laughter of residents and staff having some fun.

My mother was a happy resident of Woking homes since January2015. It was her chosen Home once managing in her own home became too difficult. Her room was spacious and comfortable with a good garden view, her bathroom was large, furnished with a good shower space that a disabled person could use and
extremely clean at all times.
The communal rooms are light and bright as are the corridors. The dining room is a smart and light space with good food prepared to a high standard.
The Care staff have good training in looking after the needs of Residents, they are extremely aware too of the needs of visiting relatives, as are the Office Staff and Medical Teams. The Activities are well planned and are varied. Each resident receives a weekly programme posted through their front door letterbox.

There is guest accommodation, a swimming pool and a Bar occasionally.
Sadly my mother died in November, End of Life Care was provided which was comforting after a stay in hospital.

Thank You All

As a former Chairman of Age Uk in the borough of Waverley, and a former Community Council Health Council member, I have had occasion to visit many nursing homes over the past 20 years. I have never found a more perfect example of how older people should be cared for than at Woking Homes. It is a beacon
for elderly care. The staff from top to bottom work tirelessly in the interest of their clients. However, I do worry about the inadequate level of local authority funding in the future.

My 93-year-old godfather went to Woking Care Home at the beginning of January 2017 initially for respite care but since decided to stay as a permanent resident. Throughout his short stay so far he has been given the very best care that we could have wished for. Every single member of staff both administrative
staff, as well as care staff, has been unfailingly courteous and kind. The food is incredibly good and all homemade including the bread and hot cross buns!

The care staff are highly attuned to residents' medical needs and have been excellent at identifying any signs that may require medical intervention.

The home itself is spotlessly clean, light and airy. The bedrooms are spacious and there is scope for residents to bring some items of their furniture with them.

The overall feeling of the home is one of being in a restful family environment. We are so relieved to think that my godfather is in a place of safety and where he is cared for with dignity and compassion.

Thank you for your very positive feedback. I am so pleased that your godfather has settled in so well. I am extremely proud of the the home and the staff team who work very hard to ensure that our residents feel at home and are confident that their care needs are met, while maintaining their own independence and choices. I will ensure that everyone is made aware of your kind comments as I know the team will appreciate it.

I found the home's staff very helpful when looking a home for my mother. They offer many activities for the residents, both physically, to help keep them mobile and mental to stimulate thought.
The staff are helpful and offer a high degree of respect and care for their residents. The rooms are spacious,
with ensuite facilities, all well furnished and are kept clean at all times.
I would have no reservations in recommending this home to friends for their loved ones.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.523)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.523) out of 10 for Woking Homes is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.741 for Woking Homes is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (28 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.741

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.782 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Woking Homes is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.882

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
