Thank you for your feedback. We’re grateful for your positive comments about our colleagues and we are pleased your mother felt welcome during her respite stay. With regards to staffing levels, I would like to assure you that we do a full dependency analysis for each resident which is used to plan the care team, in order to ensure that care is safe and appropriate for residents’ needs at all times. We do continually reassess resident’s needs, and it is regrettable that due to the change in your mother’s care needs and her requiring a higher level of one-to-one support, we were no longer able to care for her at Kingsleigh. We do appreciate your feedback and we are sorry that your expectations have not been met on this occasion.

Thank you very much for your feedback - I’m extremely pleased to hear your positive comments about Kingsleigh. I am particularly grateful for your comments and ratings around the quality of care and dignity, your kind words are appreciated and will be passed on to the team. In regards to the locking of resident’s rooms, residents can choose to have a key for their bedrooms to lock their doors. Apologies that you did not know this, otherwise we would have assisted you in enabling your mother to have a key. However, as you can appreciate we don’t want to lock the rooms every time a resident leaves, as we wouldn’t want residents to feel restricted in their own home. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback on the home, and of course please do contact the home manager or any other members of the senior team at the home if there is anything else we can help with, now or in the future.

Thank you very much for your feedback – we’re delighted with your positive comments and scores. With regards to your feedback about a key worker system, I would like to assure you that our team leaders are responsible for supporting the residents on each of our suites. They are the main contact for both the resident and their relatives, so please talk to them directly if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking to review the system in the near future to ensure our senior carers also have responsibility for specific suites within the home. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to leave us a review.

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.029) out of 10 for Kingsleigh is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.807 for Kingsleigh is calculated as follows: ( (68 Excellents x 5) + (14 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.807
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.222 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Kingsleigh is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 67 registered maximum number of service users is 13.4. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 13.4 = 0.522
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Home Manager
I started my career as a care assistant and moved my way up the ranks. I joined Care UK in 2006 and was the deputy manager at Broadwater Lodge, another Care UK home, for seven years before moving to Kingsleigh.
I would describe myself as a people person with a passion for helping others. One of my favourite parts of the day is when everyone stops for ‘tea at 3’. It’s a chance to catch our breath after the busiest part of the day, and it gives us the opportunity to have some quality conversation time with residents.
I’ve been supported by other home managers to progress in my career, and I believe in doing the same now I’m at that level. Being able to help and develop colleagues is a great feeling, as is empowering them to make a difference in residents’ lives.
