Fees are subject to a pre-admission needs assessment which is required to fully understand the level of
care and support required by each individual. Premium rooms normally require an additional charge. There
are no additional fees for respite stays.

Please note, the weekly fee does not include hairdressing, chiropody or other healthcare visits or
appointments not covered by the NHS, toiletries, newspapers or magazines, any over the counter
medications that a GP wouldn’t normally prescribe such as paracetamol and indigestion relief, and any
other privately arranged healthcare. Should you require an escort to hospital appointments, we may apply
an agreed hourly charge for this service.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re grateful for your positive comments about our colleagues and we are pleased your mother felt welcome during her respite stay. With regards to staffing levels, I would like to assure you that we do a full dependency analysis for each resident which is used to plan the care team, in order to ensure that care is safe and appropriate for residents’ needs at all times. We do continually reassess resident’s needs, and it is regrettable that due to the change in your mother’s care needs and her requiring a higher level of one-to-one support, we were no longer able to care for her at Kingsleigh. We do appreciate your feedback and we are sorry that your expectations have not been met on this occasion.

I am particularly grateful for your comments and ratings around the quality of care and dignity, your kind words are appreciated and will be passed on to the team. In regards to the locking of resident’s rooms, residents can choose to have a key for their bedrooms to lock their doors. Apologies that you did not know this, otherwise we would have assisted you in enabling your mother to have a key. However, as you can appreciate we don’t want to lock the rooms every time a resident leaves, as we wouldn’t want residents to feel restricted in their own home. Thank you again for taking the time to provide your feedback on the home, and of course please do contact the home manager or any other members of the senior team at the home if there is anything else we can help with, now or in the future.

With regards to your feedback about a key worker system, I would like to assure you that our team leaders are responsible for supporting the residents on each of our suites. They are the main contact for both the resident and their relatives, so please talk to them directly if you have any questions or concerns. We are looking to review the system in the near future to ensure our senior carers also have responsibility for specific suites within the home. Thank you very much for your review, and I’m particularly happy to hear that your mother’s health has improved greatly since she’s lived at Kingsleigh. In regards to clothing, I understand that when your mother joined us she did not have any labels on her clothes, which our laundry team do need for identification. I believe that this has now been rectified and, now the clothing is fully named, I’m sure this will no longer be an issue. Please do let the home manager know if you have any further comments or questions now or in the future and we’ll be happy to help.

I try to visit him once a week, often on different days / times and always enjoy the friendly welcome and relaxed atmosphere.

Job Title: Home Manager
I started my career as a care assistant and moved my way up the ranks. I joined Care UK in 2006 and was the deputy manager at Broadwater Lodge, another Care UK home, for seven years before moving to Kingsleigh.
I would describe myself as a people person with a passion for helping others. One of my favourite parts of the day is when everyone stops for ‘tea at 3’. It’s a chance to catch our breath after the busiest part of the day, and it gives us the opportunity to have some quality conversation time with residents.
I’ve been supported by other home managers to progress in my career, and I believe in doing the same now I’m at that level. Being able to help and develop colleagues is a great feeling, as is empowering them to make a difference in residents’ lives.
