Limegrove in East Horsley is operated by the Anchor Hanover Group. It is a purpose-built home, supporting up to 55 older people to live a comfortable lifestyle, as well as specialising in dementia care. It is located close to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The home continues to welcome new residents for a range of residential care services, including convalescence care, respite care, trial stays and long term care.

The care team gets to know customers and works with them to organise stimulating activities which match individual and group interests, both in the care home as well as in the local community. Each customer’s individual needs are regularly assessed to ensure their care plans meet their lifestyle requirements. Meals are cooked fresh, using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients where possible.

Anchor is England’s largest provider of housing and care for those over 55 years of age and has more than 60 years of experience as a not-for-profit provider of services to older people.

Always a friendly, helpful welcome from reception team when visiting our mother. Always willing to answer any queries.
My mother has settled really well, although she has dementia, and the staff are always on hand - especially when we have to leave and mum gets anxious. Her room is excellent, clean
and functional.
She particularly enjoys the music events and armchair keep-fit.
Our family would recommend Limegrove for their care, attention and efficiency.

My mother became a resident at Limegrove - East Horsley in March 2022 at the age of 101 years old. Having looked at several homes Limegrove stood out for us, partly because of the warm welcome we received the day we visited, plus it was a lively atmosphere and staff are very attentive to the residents
we saw. Being able to take pieces her furniture and ornaments made her room cosy and very welcoming. Impressed with the variety of activities on offer and understand she likes "chair yoga" and a singalong. It is everything we had wished for mum.

Regretfully, my father was a resident of Limegrove for 5 months until February 2022.
During this time we witnessed a steep and rapid decline in his health and well-being and were very disappointed and concerned with the level of care and support provided.
The advertisement of this being ‘a happy
home’ is misleading in our opinion and not consistent with what we witnessed. Staff were not responsive or effectively managed.
We saw a high turnover of inexperienced temp carers and numerous disturbing, volatile, and unpleasant scenes including where residents were clearly in distress.
Inconsistent Covid rules were frequently applied by staff on reception who were often rude or abrupt.
During the most recent lockdown when visiting ceased, my father became seriously dehydrated and lost a significant amount of weight. Only when visitors were allowed back to the home was this escalated by us and he was submitted to hospital immediately but sadly passed away days later.

I have a close relative who was admitted to Limegrove in 2021 and who I would regularly visit one or two times a week.
I was initially very impressed with the place as the rooms and buildings are in good order and the meals are good. But I was shocked by the quality of care provided. On most occasions
when I visited the carers would be from a temp agency (so had no knowledge or understanding of the residents they worked with). On each visit, I would see different temp workers on my relative’s wing. However what was much, much worse was that these staff seemed to take no interest in the residents concerned and would either spend the time there on their phones, chatting in the kitchen… or sleeping in full view of everyone else. This would often be while nearby residents were clearly in some form of distress – or at least in need of attention.
Quite shocking, and because management or reception rarely visited the wings, they were oblivious to such negligence. Impossible to recommend.

Choosing Limegrove for my father was the worst decision I made in my life. Whilst the presentation of the building is very good, the quality of care is appalling. There are assorted agency carers for much of the time, and on Dad's wing, there was little continuity of staff; not helpful for someone with
dementia. With the odd exception, most carers are happy to do as little as possible, often ignoring residents' needs, or turning a blind eye to volatile situations. There are very few smiles, carers do not appear to have any genuine concern for residents, and I frequently observe them on mobile phones, watching TV, or hiding in the kitchen chatting. Due to such poor care, I spent much time there carrying out personal care myself and observed a lot of what went on. I raised concerns with management but sadly very little changed and investigations are now underway by external bodies. Thankfully Dad is no longer there although my whole family lives to regret his five-month stay there.

The staff are always friendly and willing to go out of their way to help. The covid restrictions have obviously made things very difficult for all, but any requests I have are dealt with quickly and when I go to visit my mother the staff working with her are always attentive and caring.

I have found Limegrove to have a happy atmosphere, a sense of 'family' where laughter and compassion are demonstrated on a daily basis. My (rather difficult!) mother has settled in well and is no longer fearful, despite the confusion arising from her condition. Her health has improved since she arrived.

A truly wonderful and extremely caring environment. My mother had three 'bonus' years here which was down to the exceptional staff who looked after her. I have marked the home faithfully as 'excellent' throughout. The only mark that only scored 'good' was the activities. The activities were first-class
when dedicated members of staff were assigned to these tasks. This has suffered a little due to the new working methods. A brilliant home - which I would have no hesitation in recommending. Thank you Limegrove.

Over a time span of a week recently my father lost mobility and became quite dependent on others for all his daily activities. The superb staff acted promptly in discussing a care plan with me and notifying the GP. A physio also came in to assess him and formulate a mobility plan. As an independent
professional she commented to me how impressed she was with the staff in the home and how dedicated, caring and efficient they were. She said how lucky I must feel to have my relative living there and how it must being peace of mind that he was so well cared for. I totally agree with her. My father adores the staff who care for him and they have become extended family to him and very important in his life. I do have peace of mind and am forever grateful that following a respite stay there he decided he did not want to go home but make Limegrove his home for life.

I visited my Dad during a week of the COVID outbreak. The visit was very well organised and the safety of everyone was secured. My dad was well prepared for the visit and was brought to the garden in a caring and dignified way. Although he was confused, his carer was extremely reassuring and was
able to ensure he stayed calm and de-stressed. I was so impressed by the attention and love she gave him in an extremely difficult context. Limegrove has proved to be an excellent place for my dad to spend his final years. It is comforting and reassuring to know he is so well cared for.

Limegrove is such a lovely care home and made so by all the friendly and committed staff. My father has settled in very well and is very happy. I find this care home really good for its residents and even for family visiting. I never feel like I've been to a care home but rather a family member's house
as we are always made to feel so welcome. The place is always immaculately clean and always someone at hand to help. Thanks so much to team Limegrove for making so many people happy and being the best home out there.

Very friendly welcoming home. Always easy to locate a member of staff. All the staff is very helpful. Interior bright and cheerful with lovely pictures and ornaments. Homely atmosphere with something always going on i.e entertainments etc.
The staff know the patient's names and have a caring attitude.
I have not been there at mealtimes but gather that the food is good.

My Mother sadly has had to go to another care home with nursing as she now has zero mobility and Limegrove could not accommodate her medical needs any longer.


As we live in the USA you cannot just "pop" in for a visit, therefore, having to rely on the telephone and the willingness of the staff there

to facilitate this.


I came back in March of this year and noticed immediately how adapted my mother had become and, on some days chose the activities over spending time with me and of course this is exactly what you hoped for!


The care home manager and his team I truly cannot fault in any way at all and would love to mention them all by name but the review sadly does not allow for this but for any of the staff that read this, a huge thank you to you all from myself, my wife and daughter and I know also from mum.

Food is a bit dull and uninspiring. The rooms are a bit worn and in need of redecoration. The staff are very caring and treat the residents with respect and affection. The activities have improved immensely in recent months. Some agency staff still don't have name tags.
