It was one of the most difficult times for me, choosing a care home for my mother but I take great comfort that my choice was simply excellent and my mother was in the best place she could be.
Redcot is in a beautiful old house set in tranquil and very lovely surroundings with great views over the
South Downs. From the moment my mother moved in, the staff have been truly excellent, caring and sympathetic both to my mother and me. The cleanliness is impeccable, my mother was always clean, well dressed and her room and the common facilities were always spotless. Although my mother was not one to join in, the activities are put on with great enthusiasm and skill and it is clear that they are enjoyed by the majority of residents.
During the COVID pandemic, Redcot have always been ahead of the regulations and recommendations and are clearly fully supported by their management at Friends of the Elderly. I have never had any fears for the safety of my mother. I highly recommend Redcot.

Mum moved to Redcot earlier this year. Throughout her stay, she was treated with respect and outstanding care. Every member of staff went out of their way to welcome the whole family and ensured we were kept updated as Mum's condition worsened. I take great comfort in the knowledge that Mum could not
have been better supported at the end of her life. Thank you to the skilled staff who deserve much praise.

My mother-in-law was a fiercely independent woman who reluctantly needed care in the last year or so of her life. We had tried various care homes unsuccessfully until we found Redcot. The home is beautiful with large airy rooms and the staff and carers could not have been more patient and caring. They
treated her with dignity at all times. I would not hesitate to recommend Redcot to others.

I spent two weeks spanning Christmas and New Year at Redcot. The staff were excellent and helped and assisted the residents with kindness and friendship. The meals were excellent and the daily programme of events were varied and enjoyable. Most people took part in activities, everyone was encouraged
to take part. As a visitor, I was welcomed by the staff and I felt accepted in every way.

Mum stayed in Redcot for nearly four years until her death. We particularly felt that in Mum's final months she was given very attentive and sensitive care. There was a warmth and humanity that can so easily be rather lacking in a professional situation. As Mum had played the piano to a high standard
it was wonderful to have a grand piano in the house! I would only add that if a way could be found practically and financially to open up the garden more to residents that could only be a good thing. I think Mum would have liked to have been wheeled around more of the garden and not just restricted to the terrace. That said I and my two sisters all felt very happy overall with Mum's time spent at Redcot. Keep up the good work!

My mother has just spent five weeks of respite care at Redcot. It is a beautiful care home, professionally run, with a dedicated and caring team. My mother had a beautiful ground floor room with the most amazing views. Thank you to the manager and all the staff for taking such good care of Mum.

When I visit my grandmother the staff are always really welcoming and friendly. I like hearing about all the fun activities that are on offer and the grounds are amazing. My children love playing in them when we go to visit their great grandmother.

My 3rd review in almost 5 years and I'm pleased to say that the high standards at Redcot are being well maintained. In the last year, various projects have been undertaken around the building to maintain modern standards. The staff change little and are always friendly towards residents and their visitors.
I can go anytime (no restrictions) and be made welcome. The activity programme is impressive and well supported by the staff. Simply speaking, "my lady loves it" and her 100th is only months away. I'm so pleased for her that she is a Redcot resident.

My mother at 105 is the oldest resident at Redcot. She has been here for eight years and calls it home. That says a lot and as a family, we appreciate the care and kindness she has received.
Sadly there has been quite a change of staff which is understandable but the changes have to be. We are delighted
with her care.

Induction: Poor, no medical checks on my mother's medical needs until a few months into arrival. Dr still had no notes after 5/6 months so this was not ideal. Communication was very poor between Dr, home and pharmacy. Mum would wait weeks for repeat drugs. Most carers were kind but a few were not very
caring and some were bullying in their approach. Better training needed in spotting infection in the elderly as often this was missed and my mother was sent to hospital twice. Leaving home to go to a nursing home!

We have been visiting Redcot for 18 months. Each time we have been greeted warmly and often offered tea and cake. Our lady is well and kindly looked after. She adores the food, her room is near and homely. Redcot never smells unpleasant. We visit quite a few care homes in Haslemere and this is the best.

Job Title: Interim Manager

Hi, I’m Staci, the Deputy Manager here at Redcot.


I’ve always wanted to support older people to live fulfilled lives and ensure they are cared for
and happy.


I’ve worked in the Care Sector for eight and a half years. Before coming to Friends of the Elderly, I was a Support Worker for adults with learning disabilities, which was a really rewarding job; but when the opportunity arose to come to Redcot, I knew it was the right place for me.


As the Deputy Manager, I have lots of different tasks I need to achieve every day, but of course, these tasks change daily – I have to say, it’s never boring here. I support our Care Home Manager, Jan with the day-to-day running of the care home, but also have specific tasks.


I assess all our new residents and am always on hand to provide support or have a chat if any resident or a family member has any questions or queries. Amongst other things, I work with our care team on our residents’ care plans, undertake risk assessments and work hard to ensure all our residents’ care needs are met.


It’s extremely important, not only to me but to the whole of the Redcot team, that our residents are happy, well cared for and safe, and I work to the best of my ability to achieve this.


Another great thing about my role is that it gives me the flexibility to not only work in the care home’s office, but also the opportunity to take time to chat with our residents, get involved in their daily activities and learn more about each individual’s life stories.


I do what I do because I genuinely care. I care about all our residents, their families and Redcot. I love what I do because I feel I’m making a difference and, if I can make just one resident smile a day, I know I’ve not only made their day a bit brighter, but I know I’m doing my job well.
