There are many homely comforts that make this an ideal choice, as well as a vibrant social life, large communal sitting rooms, a greenhouse, a chapel and bedrooms, which residents can furnish to suit their taste.

Staff have a friendly approach. Many outings and events are regularly added to the calendar for clients' enjoyment.

Staff are friendly and helpful. Carers are always kind and caring but sometimes seem to look for guidance. They are mainly from overseas and communication with the elderly can be difficult. They have a good programme of activities plus the use of a mini bus and a nice garden.

My mother stayed in The Royal Cambridge Home for nearly 3 weeks for respite care. She is 93 and of fragile health. She was looked after with exceptional kindness at the home and thoroughly enjoyed her stay. She loved the staff, food, activities and joining the other residents in their everyday lives.
The staff treated the residents with great compassion and care. Our family are very grateful for giving my mother such an enjoyable visit where she was safe and cared for so well.

Mum has been a resident at the home for nearly 9 years and there have been many changes during that time. The home offers it's residents a 'home from home' as far as possible and mum came to think of it as home and the staff, family. The staff are caring across the board including the cleaning, catering
and auxiliaries and over the years have become a little like family to us too. Mum is sadly now receiving end of life care, however, I can't think of anywhere I would rather her be. She is treated in a caring, gentle and kind way with dignity.

Rory

Rory Belfield

Job Title: General Manager

Joined: 2015

Rory is the General Manager of The Royal Cambridge Home. He has been the Manager of the service since June 2015. He has over 25 years experience of working in social care and has been a Registered Manager with the Care Quality Commission since 2006.


He has attained relevant qualifications in care namely: Registered Manager’s Award; NVQs in Care levels 2, 3 and 4; Assessors and Internal Verifiers qualification; as well as awards in Managing Care and End-of-life care.


Rory also holds a BSc (Hons) and MA degree in Social Sciences. He is a qualified counsellor having attained the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling. Most recently Rory has completed a Foundation Degree in Counselling with the Open University.


Vicky

Vicky O'Brien

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2018

Vicky has over 30 years’ experience in the care sector.


Having joined the Royal Cambridge Home in April 2018 as Care Manager, Vicky has since been promoted to Deputy Manager, however, as part of her role she also oversees the delivery of care for our residents.


She has a particular interest in Dementia, both in the inclusive practice and the research element. Vicky is a dementia trainer and both a Dignity and Dementia Champion.


She is also trained in Substance Misuse.


She holds a Level 3 NVQ in Management and a Level 5 NVQ in Care.
