Shannon Court is a renovated Edwardian country home located in pleasant woodland in Hindhead, Surrey. The Home is close to the South Downs with its breath-taking areas of outstanding natural beauty. The grounds are laid out for the enjoyment of residents, with a woodland walk, ornamental fishpond and sensory garden.

They provide residential care and residential dementia support for up to 53 residents.

At 101, my mother decided she no longer wanted to live on her own, and although capable, the time to have full-time care had come.
After spending an unhappy month in a previous care home moved to Shannon Court, where she settled down quite quickly due to the excellent attention and care of the friendly
staff.

My 91-year-old mother has been a resident at Shannon Court since May 2022, having moved from another care home, in which she had lived for just over a year. It had become evident to our family that Mum was unhappy in the previous home, so the decision to move to Shannon Court was a difficult one as
we had no wish to repeat Mum's past experience.
From the initial meeting with the management and care staff, it was evident that the team at Shannon Court have a completely different approach, and the term 'care' in its pure form applies to every individual that you meet. Residents are encouraged to participate in the regular scheduled events and entertainments, and the modular system within the home ensures that new residents are not overwhelmed by their new surroundings.
It's early days yet, but all our family members who have visited, feel that Mum is much more relaxed and is in control of her limited circumstances. I can only extend my heartfelt thanks to all the team.

My mum moved into Shannon Court on Monday 27 June. The welcome was excellent, and her pictures were up in her room within an hour, making it feel like home. Staff were very welcoming and reassured me she would be well looked after. Great communication over first few days, reassuring us she’s settling
in well.

We, as a family, have been very happy with the way Mum has been welcomed into Shannon Court. The staff are very caring, and though Mum can be demanding, they show patience and understanding.
There are activities arranged to keep Mum engaged and stimulated; she particularly enjoyed the animal petting
session, and though Mum isn't very mobile, she joins in with the chair exercises.
The home is well maintained and clean, the food delicious and well balanced, and the bar and shop are an excellent idea.
It's lovely to be able to stroll around the well-manicured grounds with Mum in her wheelchair and sit by the pond.
If we have any questions or queries, the staff take time to answer and reassure us.
We are very fortunate to have found Shannon Court.

My mother moved into Shannon Court three years ago. Last year she, unfortunately, had to transition to the Dementia Wing where she is being extremely well cared for. The environment is very comfortable, clean and welcoming. There appears to be a very good ratio of dementia staff to residents, and the
staff are all very caring, helpful and engaging with my mother and our family. The management team have been very efficient, charming and helpful, which has been very much appreciated by my family, especially during the very trying times over the past two years. We feel that my mother is in a safe, cheerful and kind environment. There appears to be an excellent level of interaction and engagement, which is helping to keep her in the best physical and mental state that we could hope for. All the carers, reception team and support staff work very hard to ensure my mother receives the best level of care on a daily basis.

My mother passed away in February 2022 at the grand old age of 102, after spending almost all her last year in the care of Shannon Court. I have nothing but praise and respect for the way all the staff cared for her and made her feel so special. Also, I must thank the way I was kept informed of how
Mum was keeping and particularly towards the end of her life when support from the management, staff and the NHS staff that was called in was so caring and respectful.

Beautiful building and grounds, but it is the staff that make Shannon Court so good. My father moved into Shannon Court in the summer, and right from the start, the team there were courteous, caring and professional. They also showed a high degree of flexibility when it came to his and family members
requests and were always on hand to help. As his health failed in the autumn medical attention was sought from the local GP very promptly, subsequent hospital visits were well organised and done with no unnecessary fuss or difficulty.
The home is very well run, friendly and genuinely caring about its residents and their families.
Dad was very happy there, until sadly, he passed away just before Christmas.

Two weeks ago my parents had to leave their retirement home in southern Europe and relocate to the UK as they had reached the stage where they needed professional full-time care. It was understandably an incredibly difficult decision for them to make and with all the preparations involved especially
important to have the right support. This we found in The Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution Care Company (RMBI), who skillfully guided us through the process of applying and choosing the most suitable home for their needs. When the day finally arrived for them to leave their beloved adopted home, we siblings were obviously hugely concerned whether they would be able to settle in. You can imagine our relief when we heard of the warm welcome they received at Shannon Court and since then we have had only positive feedback, ranging from very attentive staff to lovely rooms, good food, and interesting activities. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Resident Placement Manager and the whole team at Shannon Court.

Shannon Court has a wonderful, caring atmosphere. The staff are excellent and nothing is too much trouble for them. My sister has now been at Shannon Court for around 10 years.
During that time I have to say I have been completely satisfied with the care she has received. I think the home should be
congratulated on the way in which they have handled the Covid epidemic – dealing with upper age people is never easy and explaining the situation to them which they do not really understand can be difficult. I think Shannon Court has gone out of its way to ensure that relatives can visit, make Zoom calls and allow their relatives not to feel isolated. No mean task and handled impeccably by Shannon Court staff.

I have both my parents at Shannon Court, one in the dementia unit and one in the residential side. They are on different floors but very much still together. The staff do their utmost to see that they get time with each other, often going above and beyond. My brother and I are so grateful that they
are there together, safe, well and happy.

My mother is extremely well cared for at Shannon Court. The staff are always on hand for all of her needs. My mum has dementia but the staff help her with activities so she can enjoy herself. My mum, who is 96, suffered a stroke as the result of an accident in 2014. She is wheelchair-bound and battles with vascular dementia. She needs a lot of help and personal care.
She doesn't always know who I am or what year it is but, since living at Shannon Court, she has been loved by staff, made
friends, laughed, made others laugh, joined in and had fun. Mum is happy, safe, secure, loved and well cared for. I don't have to worry about her day to day and cannot begin to thank the staff enough.
Shannon Court, freemasonry in action, and most highly recommended by me and my family.

Drive and grounds well kept. Main house looks well maintained. Due to Covid-19, I have only seen the visiting room, not ideal but safety is the uppermost in everyone's mind so well thought out and a toilet nice touch.
Bit noisy due to work going on in the grounds and a bit difficult to hear mum even

I joined RMBI Care Co. in 2018 and currently I am overseeing Shannon Court as Business Manager.


As an experienced senior manager, my forward thinking and proactive approach has resulted in me delivering on major projects and service transformations within the adult care sector.


My excellent communication and networking skills have provided my services with the ability to transform and modernise services for the future, and my relationships with other organisations and providers of services has enabled me to deliver service improvements. My ability to think outside the box has helped me to shape new and innovative services that create real benefits to the people using them.


In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my children. I also like scuba diving and recreational cycling in the local area. I am a passionate gardener and, as I am actively involved with the community, I am a school governor and have been coaching the football team for the local club for a number of years.
