Springkell House is a beautiful Victorian building set in landscaped gardens close to the countryside of the Devil's Punchbowl, with good transport links and within easy reach of Hindhead. It specialises in providing residential, dementia and Alzheimer's care, with a sensitive and understanding approach to needs of the residents.

The building is adapted and equipped to the highest standard to provide comfort and care 24-hours a day, seven days a week for your loved ones. Springkell House enjoys an enviable local reputation, with their warm and friendly atmosphere felt both within the home and in the local community. The home is located near many local amenities, community activities and places of worship. In the most recent CQC report dated September 2023, Springkell House was rated as 'Good' overall.

This review relates to the last 12 months. I have visited Springkell House Care Home on numerous occasions over the last year - almost once a week. My mother has always been well dressed and quite happy - obviously well cared for. The carers are excellent and all of them treat her as a real person.
Her hygiene and personal appearance are looked after in a first-class manner. She never complains and is always very happy in the environment. Her appetite is very good and the food provided is very good. Her room is comfortable and always clean and tidy. The whole house is extremely clean. The activities provided are many and varied. We have been lucky to find such a clean, comfortable and caring environment.

I am constantly impressed with the staff of Springkell House. They go the extra mile to ensure the residents are well cared for and treated in a dignified manner. They are cheerful and always approachable should I need any assistance for my mother. She is really happy at Springkell House and we are
really happy to have found such a well managed and caring home for her.

Pleased to say this is a very well run care home, in very pleasant surroundings. I go to the home once a week to visit and have to be let in. It could be a different person from the last one, which makes no difference as it is always with a very welcoming smile. This immediately is a good sign all
the staff get on well together and are always ready to help one another.

The staff were extremely good providing a friendly, caring service. The communal rooms are limited on space but the private room was clean, freshly decorated and spacious. The home coped with the increasing needs and provided all the equipment needed to make the final weeks as comfortable as possible.

I was delighted to have found such a lovely care home for my mother. The staff were always helpful and friendly and sensitive to my mother's needs. The standard of care was excellent. When my mother died everything was handled very compassionately and professionally. The home had a nice homely atmosphere

Always welcomed by smiling staff who are very courteous. Parents kindly cared for; the beds are always clean and fresh and help given unfailingly with everyday necessities. The standard of food is excellent and regular small tasty snacks given. (very important not to over feed the elderly with food
but they often need encouragement to eat) It is good to see regular staff to build relationships with and so feel confident that one's vulnerable parents are being well looked after and cared for. I would highly recommend Springkell House for its sensitivity in the care of dementia sufferers.

Dad came to Springkell in March this year 2016 and he settled in quickly. He came from a home which catered for fewer residents, and he enjoys the company, a plus factor that has improved his night-times. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and caring. Dad loves the food, the catering is excellent, he
enjoys his cuppa and piece of cake in the afternoons.


The manager is helpful and informative, nothing is too much trouble. They deserve their CQC status.

Mum has been at Springkell for almost six years and throughout this time the care that she has received has been exceptional. All the staff understand her needs and deal with them as appropriate. Overall mum is as happy as can be expected!
I would not hesitate to recommend to others. Prior to mum moving
to Springkell my brother and I visited numerous homes and needless to say, Springkell came out tops and we have not been disappointed in our decision.

My mother has been at Springkell House nearly 3 years now, and is very happy there. The staff are all very caring and friendly, both to my mother and to me, and I can see she relates well to them. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they are like an extended part of our family now!
Springkell
has a very homely, happy and peaceful atmosphere, the decor is bright and colourful, with lots of reminiscent pictures etc around. Residents are well cared for, with individual likes/dislikes known and respected. There are some lovely activities, and the excellent food completes a great experience!

My "mum" has had the best possible care over the last 2 years she was at Springkell. She was always treated with dignity, compassion and superb care. We were always welcome to visit at any time and always found the atmosphere brilliant. The staff were caring and treated everyone with dignity, compassion
and sometimes a much needed sense of humour. Pets were welcome too. The last couple of months my "mum" was bedridden and by the doctors advice and my consent she was treated with palliative care. Her care at the end of a long and happy life was impeccably provided by all at Springkell - she died peacefully and with dignity for which I thank everyone at Springkell, but special thanks to the manager and carers. Thank you all.

Anne-Marie Loynton

Job Title: Support Manager

Joined: 2023

I have worked within the care industry for more than eighteen years, thirteen of which I have spent at Beritaz Care. My whole family worked in the care industry so it has always been what I wanted to do, I am glad to have been able to follow in their footsteps.


My role at the home involves caring for and supporting our residents however they need. I oversee the staff on the floor, making sure correct procedures are being followed and offering my help when needed. I really enjoy caring for the residents and spending time talking to them. Working at Springkell House is made even better by the great team I have around me, we work very well together and everyone gets on.


The training offered by Beritaz is brilliant, my biggest achievement since being with the company is gaining my NVQ level 3, and I am now working towards my level 4 qualification. I wouldn’t be in the position I am in now without the training and support of Beritaz Care as an employer.

Jozef (Jogi) Tomko

Job Title: Head Chef & Facilities Supervisor

Joined: 2004

I began my professional catering career as an Army chef, I then worked in restaurants before coming to Springkell House in 2004. The management team and Beritaz Care are forward-thinking and encourage you to develop your skills and knowledge. I have achieved NVQ 2 in catering, NVQ 3 in Hospitality and in 202 I achieved Diploma 4 in Hospitality Management. I have overall responsibility for managing the kitchen.


I take real pride in the food we serve at Springkell House, ensuring that it is good quality, healthy and appetising. Spending time with the residents creating menus and seeing clean plates at the end of mealtimes is very rewarding for me.


A highlight of my career and my proudest moment was being nominated as a finalist for Chef of the Year at Surrey Care Associations 2019 Care Awards. In 2019 we also started a luncheon club for Hindhead’s local community, the response and the feedback from has been brilliant

Job Title: Home Administrator

I have not always worked in care, prior to moving to England from my home country Slovakia I was a dress designer and worked in retail becoming a manager of a shop before taking time out to have my children.


My husband Jogi started working at Springkell House, and meeting his colleagues encouraged me to join the Springkell House team. I first started working as one of the domestic team and helping out in the kitchen. I’m now the activities coordinator which has allowed me to utilise my creative skills and have more contact with the residents which I enjoy very much. With the support of the manager, I successfully achieved a Diploma in activities.


I feel I have grown as a person and in confidence since working at Springkell House but most of all I am rewarded every day by seeing the residents happy and engaged in the activities we put in place.

I joined the team at Springkell House in November 2021 as a care assistant, prior to this role I worked in London as a domiciliary care worker.


I was inspired to join the care industry due to my personal family experience. Being involved with caring for my mother who was suffering from paralysis and supporting her daily needs, motivated me to pursue a career in care, as I feel truly passionate about helping others.


A friend informed me about the vacancy at Springkell House and I was excited about the opportunity. I have really enjoyed my time working here, having the opportunity to progress my skills and knowledge, my confidence has massively grown since I came here.


I enjoy working and interacting with the residents every day and working as part of a close-knit team with my fellow staff members. Everyone at Springkell House is friendly and supportive, it’s a wonderful place to work.

I first joined the team at Springkell House in October 2017, I had only moved to the UK three weeks prior to starting my role. When I joined, I was part of the domestic team at the home, starting in the role of Kitchen Porter before being offered the role of Cook in December of the same year.


I have always thought that the kitchen is the soul of a house, as a child, I spent many hours in the kitchen with my family cooking and enjoying our meals together. My mother was working at Springkell House before I joined, it is thanks to her I found out about the job opportunity.


They say that God won’t give us what we ask for, but what we need. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to work here, Springkell House very quickly became like a second home to me. The team at the home all know each other very well and feel as if we are an extended family to each other.


Since joining Springkell House I have been supported to develop my skills, I have completed my NVQ level 2 and am planning to continue to do more.

I have been working at Springkell House Care Home as a Domestic and Kitchen Assistant since October 2023.


Before joining Springkell House, I worked in an Italian restaurant as a kitchen assistant and assistant chef in London.


I always love to help people, everyone around me knows that I am one of the first people to volunteer to help someone when it is needed. For me, working in the nursing and care sector is a perfect fit and I feel blessed to play a part in caring for others. My wife Razin also works at Springkell House as a Care Assistant, which is another reason I was keen to take the opportunity to join this team.


My job is to keep the home clean and germ-free, for the safety and comfort of the residents. I also help the kitchen team with the resident’s daily meals. I enjoy serving the residents a nice cup of tea, it brings a smile to their faces and I enjoy knowing I have made them happy.


The residents are the heart of the home and seeing them every day reminds me of my own loved ones, some of whom have sadly left us. I am grateful to be part of a team that feels like a family, where no matter the challenges we are faced with we always support each other. It is a wonderful and amazing place to work.

I joined the Springkell House team in June 2023. Before then I had been working in fields of activity very different from care, and it took me a while to realise that I would love to work closely with people and find a way to help others.


As I decided to make such a big change in my career, I thought that it would be great to start with a smaller and more family-like company, and ideally somewhere close to home. The law of attraction worked in my favour and a friend told me about the Activities Coordinator role at Springkell House.


My job involves bringing a joyful smile to the faces of those in need, often helping those with lonely minds and tired hearts, sometimes walking on their last path. I organise the residents’ activities schedule, encouraging wellbeing and bringing fun to their day as much as possible. My favourite part of my job is that I can combine my passion for arts & crafts with work, and it challenges me to find suitable ways for the residents to enjoy moments of life. I enjoy talking and interacting with the residents while getting to know them and learning about their lives. I enjoy the challenge of finding activities that are interesting and enjoyable for them to engage with every day.


I am very grateful that Beritaz Care gave me their trust and the opportunity to develop a career in the care sector. I am grateful to work at Springkell House because here I have the opportunity to develop my skills and continue my path forward. I am grateful to be part of a team that feels like a family, where no matter the challenges that we are faced with, we always support each other.

I joined the team at Springkell House in February 2023, my journey at the home so far can only be described as great. I was sponsored to come to the UK to work, transitioning from my country was a difficult decision but one I am glad I made. When I arrived at Springkell House I was greeted by an amazing team and made to feel comfortable straight away. I immediately felt at home in such a warm and welcoming atmosphere.


Working with the rest of the team has been wonderful. Even though we are all from different cultural backgrounds, we accept each other and work in unity. Each member of the team has great ideas and knowledge which they are happy to share with each other. Working with Beritaz Care has been great, they have helped me to feel welcome and provide excellent training, which is really important for our everyday tasks.

I have always wanted to help others and do something that makes a positive difference in people’s lives, so a career in the care industry was the perfect fit for me. I have been working as a Care Assistant at Springkell House since the spring of 2023, I love being able to work so closely with the residents and feel like I am helping to make their day a little bit brighter.


Before coming to Springkell House I worked as a domiciliary carer, helping elderly people within their own homes. While I found this work very rewarding, I struggled with the constant travel. I wanted to find somewhere I could come to every day and feel part of a team, while still knowing what I do is having a positive impact.


I really enjoy helping the residents at Springkell House, my job involves looking out for not just their physical but also mental health. Having a good team around me makes a big difference, we get on really well and work together as a team. I am happy I get to do a job I enjoy.
