The dedicated and caring team at Stanecroft care home provides a wide range of respite or permanent care, including residential and dementia care, in attractive surroundings.

Stanecroft boasts a stunning rural location where residents can enjoy luxury living with all the home comforts they need. Set on one level, the home is completely accessible, promoting residents to live independently as they go about their days. When care is required a 24 hour call systems ensures residents' safety at all times.

Monthly residents' meetings give residents and families the opportunity to feedback and make suggestions about life in the home. Outings have been organised as well as additions to the garden and a new bar area - all at residents' requests.

We find it very comforting mum living here as all the staff are very caring and compassionate and take care of all mums needs perfectly. A wonderful care home with amazing facilities giving the residents plenty to fill their time.

I stayed one week for husbands respite and now attend the day centre on weekdays.
I found it delightful with dedicated caring staff. The home has an excellent manager.

I would like to thank the staff at Stanecroft for the kind and professional way they cared for my husband during his time with them. There is always a lovely atmosphere in the place and I felt welcomed and supported in my concerns for his wellbeing. The food is very good and he has always enjoyed his

My mother was a resident in Stanecroft for some 9 months as a self-funder. She was initially pleased with the facilities and dementia staff but we came to realise that her needs were not being met. Classified as 'frail elderly' she was not able to socialise with the majority of dementia sufferers. Activities
were geared to the needs of this group and my mother felt rejected. Other residents wandered into her room at night, one throwing water over her when challenged and personal items were taken and never found. She became very depressed and is now cared for in a more appropriate setting.

We are very sorry to hear that you felt that the home was unable to meet your mother’s needs and that she felt unable to socialise with many of the residents.


We understand that it had been difficult to find an alternative placement for your mother when she came into the home and had explained that Stanecroft may not be the most appropriate environment for her, given that whilst the home has a number of residents without dementia, the home is primarily a specialist facility for those living with dementia. At Stanecroft we work hard to provide a wide and varied programme of activities to suit all residents, including regular outings, a swimming club and entertainers. Residents are invited to choose which activities and outings they would like to take part in, or suggest new activities. Please be assured that every effort was made to include your mother in any of the activities taking place.


We are sorry to hear that your mother’s experience at Stanecroft was not positive overall and are pleased to know that she is now in a setting that you feel is more appropriate. On visiting, residents looked happy and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a good feeling about the home. Entertainment is good and also a good choice of food. A very relaxed atmosphere and very secure.

My mother has been a resident of Stanecroft for the last three years and has been very happy here. The building itself is bright and airy and all the staff that I've met over the years have been kind and caring. Sometimes there have been staff shortages but I think this is a reflection of both the area
and the nature of the work which is hard. Initially, I was concerned about a lack of activities but there is now a full programme of events on offer.

In recent years, with dementia, my wife has become anxious and apprehensive about attending any meeting group.
However, since the first welcoming visit to The Oaks Day Club, she has been happy to go and now attends regularly, twice a week.
The staff are professional, supportive, sympathetic and above
all, extremely kind. Everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
I am extremely grateful for the care and attention which my wife has received and the general interaction with others has been invaluable for her.

Overall we have been very happy with the care given. We have especially appreciated the good communication from the management and the individual attention given to the family- we didn't feel like a process but very welcome. Hospital transport was provided when needed. A few recommendations-
The lack
of continuity in the care staff- although they were all very helpful.
The very low toilets and armchairs were a challenge for a tall man.
Nothing was provided for stimulation other than a small television that very few chairs actually faced.
We are really thankful that this respite place was provided at such short notice so close to home.

I am particularly happy about your comments and ratings around the quality of care, although I understand you have some concerns regarding continuity of the care team. We do aim for continuity of care and have key colleagues allocated to each suite – however, to cover annual leave in the home we do at times rotate team members to ensure high levels of care across the home and maintain team levels.
In terms of the lounge we do have some other communal areas, including within the day club, which offer some additional areas to relax, take part in activities, and spend time with loved ones. We would be very happy to welcome you back should you have a need in the future for care and I do realise on this occasion you were staying with us as part of a respite requirement at short notice, should you have a need to stay with us again, we can certainly arrange a raised chair and toilet seat for you.

A friend was admitted at the end of January for dementia care. The staff were very caring and understanding of her condition and she settled in well to this lovely home particularity enjoying the gardens, I was particularly impressed with.
The health assistants who dealt with her continued incontinence
with humour and understanding, also helping her to eat and drink. I cannot speak highly enough of this care home and would hope to go here myself if it became necessary. The manager is really excellent and very kind to all the residents.

Stanecroft is always clean, light, bright and cheerful with welcoming touches of seasonally-changing pictures and decorations to keep residents stimulated.
The gardens are attractive, well-maintained and securely accessible to residents.
Food is varied and plentiful and can be tailored to accommodate
individual needs.
Personal care is good and residents are encouraged to have clean clothes on every day. There have been some recent delays with laundry not being returned in a timely way but this should be rectified with the new washing machine.
The staff are caring and friendly - they establish a good rapport with residents and give a warm welcome to visitors.
Activities for residents have been much improved in the last three months and include visiting entertainers.
Other visiting services include GP, hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist and optician.
In summary, I am amazed at what Stanecroft achieves, especially in the current financially-constrained environment.

I have visited the care home and a regular basis for the last 4 years, they have always made me very welcome. The care home always looks clean and tidy, as do all the residents. I have often visited when activities are taking place and have been most impressed with how they encourage the resident to
join in. When doctors etc have been to visit my relation I have always been informed of any change.

Right from the beginning when mum attended the day centre, before becoming a resident, she was treated with the utmost care. The staff never forgot mum's personality and always encouraged her to be herself. Later, as her health deteriorated, and she became a resident. They continued to care for her
showing great compassion and professionalism. Allowing mum to keep her dignity. Mum's last few days could not have been more peaceful. We are forever grateful to the true wonderful.

Mum was admitted for respite care due to my father undergoing back surgery. The staff were ready to receive us, friendly and homely, and were very efficient at getting mum settled.
She has a room which though a little dated in décor, has a state-of-the-art bed, and a little wash area. A commode was
provided as there was no toilet in the room. Everything was spotless throughout her 8 days stay. I wouldn't hesitate to use this facility again. Lovely staff.

Job Title: Home Manager

I've worked for Care UK for over 15 years. One of the best things about this role is seeing the difference a positive experience or conversation can make to a resident. Seeing smiles and hearing laughter every day around the home makes me so proud to work here and to work in a care setting.


I continue to learn new things every day, and I have lots of aims for the home, including developing our environment to make it even better, and to make residents’ wishes come true. Big or small, we make people’s dreams a reality. For example, when a resident wanted to be a bride for the day to relive her big day, we supported her to wear her wedding dress and I walked her up the aisle.
