Mum became a new resident at Wey Valley House in February 2023.
Since Dad passed away 2 years ago it has been a difficult time for Mum. We wanted Mum to be well looked after in a safe, caring and happy environment.
Mum has settled in well at Wey Valley House. The carers provide an excellent level
of care. They keep us well informed in case there are any changes in Mums health.
Mum has started to participate in some of the daily activities which is really good to see.
Overall Wey Valley House is well managed in a professional and organised manner. It has a lovely atmosphere and everyone is always very welcoming, friendly and cheerful.

My mother has received outstanding care, kindness and respect throughout her whole stay at the care home. The staff are highly competent, committed and caring and are led by a manager that really values the residents.

Mum is always cared for and kept safe. The staff are always aware as her needs change and keep me informed. Staff and managers are always quick to recognise when a need is there and look for ways to solve any problems.

My aunt, who has lived contentedly at Wey Valley House for more than three years, has recently needed more care than usual. The care and extra help have been given with great warmth and professionalism. I have been kept informed of issues and developments and feel her most recent improvement is down

Mum was a new resident in September 2022 after a difficult period from her husband being hospitalised then going into dementia care and herself choosing to leave their beloved home. Mum had become depressed, anxious and confused. The care home has given her back her spark. The induction process was
thoughtful, caring and inclusive with participation from Mum and the family. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and Mum has settled well into this new lifestyle. She feels cared for and loves the meals, activities and on-site extras - hairdresser, podiatrist etc. Mum thoroughly enjoys the outings too.
We would welcome an activities calendar to be emailed at the beginning of each month so can plan visits avoiding favourite activities and good to have a discussion point in what she may participate in!

Wey Valley provides excellent care for my dad, who has been resident here for over a year. He is very happy and enjoys the company of the carers and other residents. The food is good and all the members of staff are dedicated, kind and very approachable. My dads room is always spotlessly clean and he
has everything he needs. He is free to come and go and uses his mobility scooter to make short trips along the riverside into Farnham town. Visitors are welcome at any time and even if covid strikes, a designated essential person can still visit. As a family, we are very happy with Wey Valley and the high quality of the staff. This is a very happy home environment.

My mother-in-law used to work as a volunteer at the home many years ago. She has always held it in high regard and has said when the time was right this is where she would like to reside. Since my mother-in-law recently moved into Wey Vally House as a resident. We are both impressed with what the home
has to offer, facilities and the extremely friendly staff.

Please accept our sincere thanks for providing such an excellent level of care during our mother's respite stay. We remain very impressed with the level of care and the excellent facilities provided at Wey Valley House. The atmosphere is very welcoming and the staff have been both very friendly and
professional throughout. The accommodation and catering are to a high standard and the grounds very well presented. Access is provided to many stimulating activities and events throughout the week. Our mother returned to us much brighter and engaged after the week's respite and gave high regard to the level of care and social interaction she received. She showed great interest in her new surroundings and other residents there and expressed to us that she would be very happy to return for further visits. Thank you to all the staff for your help and support.

The staff are the happiest and friendliest group of people. They will go the extra mile for the residents and for visitors as well. Any questions that I ask are always answered with no fuss. The food is excellent and they keep the residents entertained and cheerful.

My mother has quite significant health problems which make her difficult to deal with. The Covid pandemic and its consequences have been difficult for her to understand especially as it has meant that she and others in the home have been isolated from time to time. The staff have been extremely kind
and understanding towards her and done better than their best at coping with an extremely difficult and dangerous time for all concerned. Well done to all the staff and I would have no hesitation in recommending Wey Valley House to anyone who is looking for a home from home for their loved one.

My father has been a resident of Wey Valley House since 2016. He is extremely deaf but the care staff have been so careful to always include him in all the activities and day to day things and they take great care when he needs assistance with his personal care. If there is a medical problem someone
always rings me to explain that they’ve contacted the surgery and they will keep me informed. Recently my father had a fall in his room, fortunately he didn’t hurt himself but a doctor was called and my father had a check-up and a member of staff rang me to discuss the situation. This year has been exceptional and all the staff have worked so hard to not only look after the residents but to entertain them as well. I cannot thank them enough and I am grateful to them for the care and understanding they give to my father and in turn, to me.

I have to bear in mind that I am responding to this survey on behalf of my father who unfortunately resents the fact that he is living in a care home but appreciates that for his own safety and wellbeing he is in the best place. He moved to Wey Valley from another care home expressly to give him the
freedom to be able to visit Farnham town and have somewhere to walk, unfortunately, Covid has curtailed all that.
But in every other respect, his care has been exemplary, he has taken to looking after the garden and feeds the birds at a feeding station outside his bedroom window, it really is as close to being home from home.

Happy with care for my dear mum through this time of uncertainty and different regulations. Always so happy to see mum, who appears well cared for when I visit. Not sure mum understands why we are unable to hug her or hold her hand although I usually communicate by written hand due to her lack of hearing
and myself wearing a mask, just long for the day for physical contact.
Staff always available, for me to view any concerns and give myself updates when visiting or over the phone about my mum's physical and mental well being.

My father moved here two months ago and I can honestly say it couldn't be much better. The quality of care is excellent. The staff are really nice. They are always pleasant and they really care about the wellbeing of the residents. The food is good and plentiful. Yes, there are homes with more luxurious
accommodation if you have the money, but it is hard to imagine the care would be any better. The location is good too. It's not far from the centre of town and is right by the river if you just want to look out of the window.

My mother moved to Wey Valley House in May 2016. Since that time, and together with the inevitable increase of her need for support as age increases, I have found both the home and its staff to be all we, as family, could wish for in terms of a caring community.


The range of activities and outings

are comprehensive to enable residents to retain as much involvement as regards both personal interests and the outside world as they may wish to.


The aspects of organisation provide a great deal of comfort and support for both the residents and their relatives and friends. The fact that there is a high level of interaction with the staff on a daily basis helps to combat one of the saddest aspects of old age - namely loneliness.


Given the degree of negative press that some Care Homes attract it is reassuring to find one that truly delivers for the benefit of both its residents and their families.

Michelle

Michelle Blower

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2015

Michelle has worked in Health and Social Care for 10 years. For 5 years Michelle worked with Adults and Children with learning disabilities. Michelle started working for Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 2015 as a Senior Care Assistant at Wey Valley House. She then progressed to Deputy Manager at Ridgway Court in 2019.


Michelle has NVQ3 and NVQ5 in Health and Social care and the Care Certificate. She has also had courses in First Aid, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Fire Marshall, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling and SOVA Management, COSHH, Drug Administration, End of Life Care, Diabetes Awareness, Dementia, Mental Health, Equality and Diversity, Support and supervision.


In April 2021 Michelle switched roles within the society to return to Wey Valley House as the new Deputy Manager.


Nathan

Nathan Cripps

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2022

Nathan has been in the care industry for eleven years gaining extensive experience in domiciliary care, elderly nursing care and complex needs.


He has completed his level 2 and 3 QCF and has recently earned a foundation degree in management and leadership after completing his level five QCF.


Nathan joined Wey Valley House in 2022 and works alongside Michelle ensuring the smooth and efficient day-to-day running of the home. His office is right by the front door as you enter the home, and his door is always open for both residents and their loved ones to pop in for a chat!


Outside of work, Nathan is a huge care enthusiast who likes to modify cars as a hobby. He is married with two young children.


Louise

Louise Arnold

Job Title: Operations Manager

Joined: 2001

Louise has worked for 18 years in caring for the elderly. She started working for The Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 2001 as a Care Assistant. Louise then became a Senior Care Assistant and then Deputy Manager.


In November 2014 Louise was appointed as the Registered Manager of Wey Valley House. Her qualifications include NVQ3 and Diploma in health and social care level 5 in care. Louise has also had courses in first aid, health and safety, fire awareness, food hygiene, drug administration, palliative care and SOVA and keeps up to date with her personal development in the care industry. Louise has an office in both homes, sharing her time between Wey Valley House and Ridgway Court.
