My aunt has been here for a while now, and I visit with my mum once a week. I have to say that we always receive a warm welcome from all staff, and I feel they are an amazing team who are caring for my aunt really well.

My husband has dementia and I need him to go into respite. He has been to three other care homes and has never really settled but Whitebourne was entirely different and I felt relaxed about leaving him as the staff are lovely. He came home happy and relaxed.

First and foremost, the manager in Whitebourne completely put me at ease with this next (huge) step on the dementia journey I am involved with. Without this, I would still be trying to navigate my way through. The respite care my husband had was superb and if he's happy, I'm happy.

I was invited to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. It was my first time trying food that the care home had prepared and I must say that it was delicious. The care staff were also very friendly, kind, and really cared for the elderly from the bottom of their heart. I do not usually write reviews, but I
was really touched by the care that my mother has been receiving. This is a care home I can confidently allow my mother to stay in. 10/10. Well done Whitebourne!

Gone there to visit a family friend and the staff were friendly and very welcoming. My friend seems to be very happy there and said the managing team are nice and professional. The music is getting you a relaxed atmosphere and the free sweets from the shop are great.

My husband has only been with you since the end of July 2021 but has received wonderful care and support. It can be very upsetting for him as he would rather be at our home, so we do get a few tears. Whitebourne is looking after him very well, he has a lovely room downstairs overlooking shrubs and the

I was initially reluctant for mum to go into a care home but am a complete convert. The care, love and family feel at Whitebourne has been second to none. She left yesterday as her needs are now so complex, she needs a more nursing-led approach but the send off brought tears to my eyes. Every single
carer, helper and manager came out to hug her and wish her well. Whitebourne may look very ordinary on the outside but it is extraordinary within. Thank you for everything.

My husband had two weeks respite at Whitebourne. I thought it was very lovely and welcoming. The manager and his staff were so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. My husband enjoyed staying there and wants to return for another break. All the residents were treated with dignity and respect. The

Mum was placed in Whitebourne after a 2 1/2 week stay in the Frimley Park hospital and a subsequent 3 1/2 week stay in the Fareham hospital. Mum was extremely distressed when she arrived at Whitebourne and very agitated about what was going to happen to her. Although mum has been in isolation since
arriving she is much happier, sleeping better and getting the care and attention she needs with her dementia. The manager and the staff have all been exceptional.

My mum went into Whitebourne in June 2020 when families were unable to enter care homes. The staff and manager were very helpful in reassuring us that she was ok and settling in well. Since she has been at Whitebourne she has flourished, looking much happier and healthier than before. She joins in with
the activities regularly. All the staff are incredibly helpful and the activities team, especially one lady, are fabulous.

We have found the care home at Whitebourne excellent in all areas. They have all worked very hard over the past year (during the pandemic) to keep the residents safe. Also enables us to keep in contact with my relative through visits outdoors and in the pod and through Whatsapp video calls. We have
seen first hand how all the staff treat my relative with care and kindness.

I cannot praise the home enough. The manager and all the staff work so well together to the benefit of the residents. A new library and sweatshop have been created and are really popular. My husband has vascular dementia and is just a shell of the man he once was. Married for 61 years, I find it very
hard as he cannot communicate, but the care staff help the visit along. My consultation is that he is settled and well looked after.

My mother has been at Whitebourne for the past 9 months. I am so happy with my choice. The staff are amazing and I feel a real bond has formed, with several people. The effort and care, I have to say, are outstanding. Communication over the past 6 months has been great, telephone calls and social media
coverage, which is just fantastic - to see your loved ones. Visits have been mixed, as at the beginning, it was difficult for both my mother and myself, as obviously no contact, hard for all. She did need support and encouragement at this difficult time. The pandemic really did not help as it was such a change for her from living with my father. The love and encouragement I see, is fantastic and I feel my mother has settled in well, due to this.

Overall, the staff are friendly and caring. If anything to be recommended, more staff are needed. It is difficult to comment as we have not been in the home for a year. It seems they have had Covid under control as best they can with no major outbreaks. The manager has been outstanding, always keeping
us informed and is proactive.

My father has been a resident for the last couple of years. In general, the staff have always been very helpful and friendly and take pride in doing what can be a very challenging job, particularly in the recent pandemic. The home is always clean and various events are organised for those who want to
participate. Following management changes, the service seems to have improved during the time my father has been a resident. Particularly during COVID, there has been an increase in communication from the management, which has been good. Issues have only generally arisen through the overall process and procedures. When issues have been raised, these have been dealt with, when followed up. It would be good if more things could be done electronically so that records could be accessed by relatives, appointments booked etc. We are very grateful to all the staff for the amazing work they have done during the pandemic.

Colette Kelleher

Job Title: Home Manager

I began working for Care UK in 2021, but I felt I knew the provider well – five other family members of mine work for Care UK care homes and have done for many years.


All Care UK homes have the same goal: to provide the best possible care for older people.


Before joining Whitebourne, I worked for another large care provider for almost 14 years. I worked my way up from Care Assistant to Head Housekeeper to Receptionist to Team Leader, Deputy Manager and finally Home Manager. I was always encouraged to apply for new roles, and the progress I’ve made is my proudest achievement.


I am always thinking about what is best for the residents we care for at Whitebourne, and it’s important as a Home Manager to be open-minded, honest and approachable. For me, the best part of the day is the end of the shift when I get to check that the residents are all safe and well, the home is cosy and warm, and the staff are all thanked for their work. I look forward to continuing to progress at Whitebourne and to leading our amazing team in providing excellent care.


When I’m not at work, I love spending quality time making memories with my family.
