My Grandmother lives in this care home and I couldn’t ask for her to be in a better place. The home itself is lovely and she has a great room with a great view. The staff are great. Every time I have been in they are so welcoming and friendly and really know all of their residents and their certain
needs. Gran has never had a bad thing to say and she loves the staff. The staff and the management do a fantastic job at keeping this place together and the residents are all very happy because of this. There are always lots of activities for the residents and the staff keep them well entertained and busy.

Before my Grandma moved into a care home I was really nervous about what to expect. I am overjoyed that my family chose Nower Care as I can simply not imagine my nan being in a better home. She settled in quite quickly which I did not expect and this is down to all the lovely staff who are so cheerful,
helpful and kind. They genuinely care and whenever we have any worries or concerns about my nan they are so helpful and positive. I cannot imagine my nan living anywhere else now and if we had to move her for whatever reason I cannot begin to imagine the stress and disruption it would cause her.
She is content and happy, there are so many great activities for her to get involved in, and food always smells amazing! When I tell people about my nan living in a home I compare it to an amazing hotel; great views from her room, yummy food, and delightful staff!!
I simply cannot imagine her going anywhere else and I am so grateful she has a room there and is in such great care.

All I can say is that my mum is in very safe hands. I live abroad but whenever I visit the care home I feel like I've never been away. The staff are all very friendly and great with my mum. The home itself has a lovely ambience and mums room is perfect for her, with views of local vistas. Mum doesn't
always get involved with the activities but they are there if she does want to do them. Every time I visit, it seems that mum has had her hair done which is great for her morale. The garden is also lovely and a great place to get some fresh air. All in all, we couldn't be happier that mum is living in Nower Care home.

My step-mother moved to the Nower last year after her previous care home closed. We were delighted there was a beautiful room available for her and have constantly been impressed by the Nower and the staff there. Her previous home was very good but, by comparison, the Nower far exceeds this.
We are
satisfied that my step-mother is happy, safe, extremely well looked after and cared for in every way by kind, attentive and helpful staff who do all they can to provide for her needs. We only wish we'd found a room for her there when she first needed to go into a home 3 years ago.
I have lived most of my life abroad and feel total peace about my step-mother living at the Nower and on several occasions, the staff have gone beyond their normal duties to fill in the gap.

My dear mum has now been a resident at Nower house for a year. I find it to be extremely caring, friendly and supportive which I partly attribute the fact that there seems to be a low turnover of staff with many of them being local and long-serving. Most of all, they seem to 'know' my Mum with her likes,
dislikes and her humour. She particularly likes the 'sing-a-longs' which she joins in with gusto. At times, the carers or activity organisers go out of their way to find things which interest her. They also cope patiently with her physical disabilities and are very welcoming to all her visitors. I really can't think of a better place for my Mum to be at this time of her life.

Nower Care Home in Dorking is an extremely well run establishment. The staff are very kind to the residents and nothing is too much trouble. The premises are kept spotlessly clean and visiting relatives are always made welcome.

My sister was suddenly bereaved leaving her alone and not able, or either wanting, to care for herself. I was recommended Nower Care by two different people I respected. As soon as I walked into the reception area and met the staff, I could tell it had a lovely homely feel. My sister and I have been
completely satisfied with our decision. I was treated with the utmost efficiency and respect in securing a room for her. The staff are all kind and loving to the clients. I live close by, so am fortunate enough to be able to visit at various times of the day. My sister has gained a new lease of life and has made friends with some very nice clients and staff. She always praises the high quality of the food served. Trips out are an option, and she particularly enjoyed a trip to out for an ice cream last summer. Nower Care has enabled us to enjoy the time we have together without the pressure of me worrying about whether she is looking after herself.

I visited lots of care homes when searching for a place for my Father and Nower House was by far the best. My Father has been a resident for past 3 years and it's proven to be a good choice. The staff are always friendly and helpful and have made my Father feel most welcome. The home is clean and rooms

I can only congratulate the Nower for how they have responded to the Coronavirus outbreak. The team were ahead of the curve in taking prompt action to ensure that the health and well being of their clients and their staff were protected. Now as we approach week 3 of the visiting restrictions I am impressed
by contact that has been made by the management to keep families I informed. This is a challenging time for all but especially our elderly. I applaud the work that the team are doing and especially for supporting my mother who has found the change in visiting routine a challenge.

I not only have power of attorney for an elderly resident, I have been visiting Nower Care for a number of years. The home is excellently run. I hold the staff have in the highest regard for their care and attention to all those they care for.

My sister has been in Nower Care for 1 year now. The home is well known to us because my late mother in law was resident there for 2 years from 2014 until her death in 2016.
We are very happy with the care provided. The facilities are excellent. My sister has settled down well and is pleased with her
room. She has been helped by the staff to customise it with some of her own furniture and possessions. The "maintenance man" was very helpful and fixed up her television and DVD player.
I cannot praise the staff enough. They are all caring and considerate and go out their way to provide the best possible care.
A range of interesting activities are organised and there was a wonderful Christmas party!
My sister is quite a fussy eater but she seems happy with the food. If she doesn't like anything an alternative is always offered.

My mother has been in Nower House for over 12 months. She has received an excellent level of care during that time. I visit from Devon two or three times a month and I have always felt the atmosphere within the home has been warm and inviting. The level of care shown has been excellent. It is fair to
say my mum is not always easy to deal with but the staff have always treated her with respect and in my opinion, provided an excellent level of care.

A very friendly home from home. Not flashy or especially modern but comfortable and homely, and very clean and well looked after. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff who genuinely care about the residents. Plenty of activities seem to be provided. My mother is very content there. A new, more proactive
approach to communications seems to be in place since there was a change in management, which is great.

Mum has been a resident at Nower House for 15 months. She has a lovely room and she is very well looked after by her carers. All the carers are very friendly and she enjoys chatting with them. She attends some of the activities available and especially enjoys singsongs, music and poetry. The food is
very good and she particularly likes porridge, puddings and bedtime milky drinks. The manager and staff are very welcoming to visitors and respond helpfully and quickly to any concerns we have.

This is a care home which feels like an actual home. Staff are wonderful, the premises are very clean and every effort is made to make the residents feel happy in their surroundings. Lots of activities to take part in and the food is very good. They were one of the first care homes to shut down for
Covid 19 and I believe in doing so saved any of the residents contracting it. Feel very lucky to have found this home for my Mother.

My mother-in-law has been in Nower Care for over five years. She has always been happy and well cared for in all the time she has been a resident. The staff are kind and professional and treat the residents with love and respect. They always have a full entertainment itinerary. The home is always spotlessly
clean and so are the residents. The food always looks and smells delicious. As you can tell by my comments, we are more than happy to have Nower Care to take care of our loved one.

At age 97 my mother has just celebrated her three year anniversary at Nower House where she is so well cared for.
Rarely a day goes by without my visiting since I live so close and over those years I can honestly say that I have never found the home to fall below its high standards.
The atmosphere
is, above all, extremely friendly and homely. The caring staff are certainly attentive and, at every level throughout the home, the whole team are always helpful and appear to genuinely care for and interact well with the residents.
There is an all-pervading quietly understated efficiency.

Lisa

Lisa Sparrow

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2023

Lisa’s career in care has spanned over twenty years. After starting off her journey as a care assistant, Lisa has gained a huge amount of experience managing both residential and nursing establishments as well as Domiciliary care.


She was a member of the Transition Team which implemented the necessary change management needed to transfer her previous care home into a modern, innovative facility and brings a huge passion for providing person-centred care. Lisa joined us in January 2023 and is excited to work with her team to further develop the care offering at Nower House.


Outside of work, she is married and has a thirteen-year-old Daughter, April. She enjoys spending time at the gym, running or simply reading a book.


The energy and enthusiasm she brings, together with her vast experience is helping Nower House be recognised as one of the leading Residential Care Homes in the Area.


Hella

Hella Monea

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2023

Hella joined Nower House as Deputy Manager in March 2023 and her extensive experience in the care industry ensures the residents and care teams have the best possible support on a daily basis.


The office door is always open and Hella is regularly offering her care and support to everyone within the home. Her goal is to ensure that everyone within the Nower House family has the support they need when they need it.


Iain

Iain Looms

Job Title: Marketing & PR Manager

Joined: 2020

Iain hails from the midlands but has spent the last twenty years living and working in the Farnham area.


Whilst launching and managing small customer-facing businesses within the local community, Iain completed a qualification in Professional Marketing and is now a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.


His introduction to the senior care sector emerged when being faced with looking after his elderly mother and he now has a passion for developing innovative customer-focused environments for all the Abbeyfield residents and their families.


Away from work, Iain has a great interest in sports – he actually spent his early career as a member of the Professional Golfers Association competing around the world and coaching. Now he enjoys social golf rather more and his coaching skills are put to the test as a coach for the Farnham under 7’s rugby teams!


Shelley

Shelley Hartley

Job Title: Chief Operating Officer

Joined: 1992

Shelley has had over 20 year’s experience in caring for the elderly. She started working for Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 1987 as a Care Assistant. She then undertook all her NVQ qualifications and became a Senior Care Assistant in 1995 and Deputy Manager in 2000. She was appointed as the Registered Manager of Wey Valley House in September 2001 and in November 2014 Shelley became the Registered Manager at Hatch Mill.


Shelley has her Registered Managers Award, NVQ3 and NVQ4 in care and currently studying NVQ7. She has also had courses in First Aid, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Fire Awareness, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling and SOVA Management, COSHH, Drug Administration, Palliative Care, Diabetes Awareness, Dementia, Customer Service and Equality and Diversity, Support and supervision.


In January 2021 Shelley was promoted to the Chief Operating Officer of the Society, overseeing daily operations at all of the homes.


Gemma

Gemma Twist

Job Title: Care Quality Manager

Joined: 2005

Gemma joined Abbeyfield Wey Valley Society in 2005 as a care assistant at Wey Valley House. Since then she has undertaken her NVQ qualifications levels 3 & 5 and became a senior carer, first at Wey Valley House and then moving to Hatch Mill. In 2019 Gemma was appointed as the Care Quality Coordinator for the Society.


Gemma has also had courses in First Aid, Health and Safety, Infection Control, Fire Awareness, Food Hygiene, Manual Handling and SOVA Management, COSHH, Drug Administration, Palliative Care, Diabetes Awareness, Dementia, Equality and Diversity, Quality Improvement & Changing Perceptions.
