We wish to express our thanks and appreciation to you and all the staff at Elizabeth Court for the care and kindness and responsibility that you have all shown towards our loved one and to us, her family. We have to express our admiration for the way that Elizabeth Court’s staff and management have
supported, cared for, protected and embraced their residents, keeping them safe and clear through the darkness of the pandemic. We wish to express appreciation for your professionalism and hard work in interpreting and applying the various rules and regulations at the same time as working hard to find ways for friends and families to remain in communication with their loved ones. This has not been easy and has required a lot of understanding. Thank you for your communications which have certainly helped in understanding what and why things have to happen. She has always been so well cared for in all the years she has been with you. The team at Elizabeth Court have always been friendly and welcoming.

Having sadly lost contact with my aunt prior to her passing, it was a great comfort and relief to speak to the care home manager. He knew my aunt very well and had obviously had a special relationship with her. He talked at length with me about her time here and the lengths he and his colleagues had
gone to, to make my aunt’s time here, the best it could possibly be.
The way in which he and his colleagues care for and try to cater to their resident’s individual needs became obvious and is admirable.
Nothing has been too much trouble, he has been in constant touch with me and played a huge part in arrangements for my aunt’s funeral service. He wrote a wonderful and personalised eulogy for her and he and his colleagues attended the service.
It has been a great comfort to know that my aunt could not have been in a better place or more well-cared-for.
Thank you to the manager and his colleagues for providing such empathetic and respectful care to those in need of it.

Job Title: Manager

I started my career as a care assistant in the community, this is where I achieved my NVQ Level 2, realising I had a love for this industry. I moved to Elizabeth Court in 2009 where I achieved my NVQ Level 3, and latterly my level 5, when I took on management responsibilities in 2015. I developed a keen interest in dementia and a passion for supporting those affected by it, aiming to understand it as well as how best to support those people with it. This led to my achieving a master’s degree in Dementia Studies at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, which I completed in 2023. The COVID pandemic taught us all a lot of valuable lessons, but for me it highlighted the relationship between care homes, people living with dementia, and the rest of society. It was during this time that I joined the East Sussex Partners in Care (Previously the RCA) on their executive board, giving a voice to the voiceless, and latterly became the Vice-Chair, helping me to really make a difference to people across the social care system. I am taking myself back to education in 2024 to complete a Business Management bachelor’s degree to further my knowledge and skills. I love social care because of the difference we get to make to people’s lives every single day. My role involves championing individuals’ rights and keeping them safe, while remembering they are at the heart of everything we do.
