Situated in the seaside town of Eastbourne, Dorley House provides residential care for up to 30 older people. There are some shared rooms available for couples and a lift to provide easy access to all bedrooms. 19 of the bedrooms are en-suite and all have sinks, telephone and television points.

The house has a sun lounge and dining room, as well as a large garden. Staff provide a choice of freshly prepared meals and daily activities to keep residents entertained.

The house is just a mile from the coast with bus access to the seafront, town centre and Eastbourne railway station.

I cannot recommend Dorley House enough. My aunt had to be admitted there the week prior to the Covid lockdown, straight from hopital. It was very distressing not to be able to visit her for the time she was there but the home did everything they could to keep us in touch with her with telephone and
Skype calls. Sadly she passed away in July but she was treated with such care and compassion during her stay. We were very impressed with the fact that the staff took time to find out her likes, dislikes, needs, hobbies etc as an individual resident. They also kept us very informed as to her condition. I will be forever grateful that during her last four months she was cared for by such a wonderful team.

The care by the entire team was exemplary. I will be forever grateful to the new manager and his excellent team for all the care they gave our mum and us.

My mother stayed at Dorley House for a month for respite and my sisters and I were really pleased how nice it was. The manager and staff are very welcoming and proactive. My mother became very fond of the staff. The atmosphere is warm and happy and there is also a lovely garden. The food is excellent
and my mother went from hardly eating on her arrival to having a hearty appetite when she left. Like all the staff the chef is very friendly and approachable to discuss personal requirements.
When my mother was due to go back home she was looking forward to keeping in touch with the staff and friends she had made by going back regularly for the lunch and activity packages Dorley House offers. We all see this as a positive way for her to make the transition to becoming a permanent resident there, as everything will already be familiar and friendly to her when the time comes.

On visiting my brother at Dorley House, I immediately got the sense that my brother was in the right place. The facility was very welcoming and the staff were very attentive and respectful to my brother as well as anyone visiting. The home was extremely clean and tidy. They always made sure that my
brother was taken care of with all of his needs. They provide a very safe and happy environment and work as a team. I would greatly recommend Dorley House.

I was visiting my aunt who was having respite care at this home and was pleasantly surprised by the care provided at this wonderful facility. She was treated with extreme care and most of all, made to feel comfortable. The staff were very attentive and she was made to feel at home. It was comforting
to know that she was in a very safe and homely environment. I would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for respite care. Thank you to the staff at Dorley House.

The staff at Dorley House are exactly what you hope for in carers looking after your loved ones. My grandmother had a short stay there before passing away and was very well taken care of. The staff also supported us through this difficult time, so I cannot recommend them enough.

My dad was resident in Dorley House until he sadly passed away. The staff were very caring and looked after my dad's every need. The care could not be faulted in any way right to the very end. Family and friends were always made very welcome when visiting.
My mother and I always felt like part of
the family when we were there with dad. It gave us great peace of mind to know dad was in safe hands. I have had experience with other care homes and this one wins hands down over them in every way. I would not hesitate in recommending Dorley House to everyone.

We all wish to say a big thank you to the wonderful staff and management for the excellent care mum received while living at Dorley house. I was lucky to witness all staff happy and respectful to every resident, every day with myself and family's being offered coffee, tea, snacks and hot meals when
visiting. The hospitality was always excellent, mum said the staff worked so hard. Mum was very lucky to have her GP always available to visit when requested. The day mum was very poorly, the manager sat with her until I got there and called my brothers to come in. We sat for three days by her side until mums heart gave up on Wednesday 7th September 2016. Mum called Dorley house a 'home from home' and we have had a bench installed and inscribed with these words for the staff. Dorley house, excellent Residential Home.

Both of my parents have been residents for nearly a year. They share a room but have very differing needs and these are met in full by the extremely caring and respectful staff. My mother can be very difficult at times due to her dementia but the staff are always patient.
My parents and the family
are consulted about all aspects of their care and they attend monthly residents' meetings. At the last meeting, the residents were consulted about the format of the summer garden party which was held this week. They wanted a barbeque and entertainment. This was duly provided. It was a wonderful experience to see the staff dancing and eating and drinking with the residents. It happened to be my parents' wedding anniversary on the day and they were given a fantastic personalised homemade cake baked by the excellent chef.
My parents are very pleased to call Dorley House " home" and my brothers and I are extremely happy to know that they are settled and content.
