My overall experince of the staff of Eastbourne Grange was very positive. All of them had wonderful empathy and compassion for the inmates. I could not fault them.

A lovely rest home. Friendly staff, the residents are always looking clean and happy and they are well looked after. My mum loves the activities, there’s always a staff member to help the residents. The rest home is nice and clean, and residents' clothes are always cleaned. The room is nice, and clean
and has plenty of room.

I have found care for three relatives or friends over recent years. This was the first time I have used Eastbourne Grange. I was super impressed by the lovely, kind and caring atmosphere at Eastbourne Grange. Accommodation is comfortable and clean. The food is well made. Medical help is professional
and effective. But without a doubt, this care home's strengths come from the management and the lovely staff. My friend loved it here and I always felt happy that they were being looked after.

I am very happy to write this review. As a long-standing resident, I have seen very many improvements over time. With good and stable management and an excellent and caring team, the home is well-run and has a peaceful and happy atmosphere, with excellent care. The food is freshly cooked, with very
good choices, to meet all needs and by two very good and friendly cooks. The owner and manager always seeks to make any improvements possible. Thank you to everyone, your hard work does not go unrecognised!

My mum has spent twenty one months in this care home. The staff and manager have been amazing in showing kindness, compassion, understanding and patience in caring for my mum. They have not only supported Mum, but have been there for our family. I can't thank them enough. The food is freshly cooked
every day, there is a mid-morning drink and biscuit and tea and cake is offered in the afternoons. Activities are available without outsiders also offering entertainment.

Wow! What a great, caring, happy team. Our whole experience, from the initial visit assessment and moving in, to day to day attention, management has been amazing. Mum has dementia but is still very active, so we were worried about her being able to continue to access her clubs and outings. But the
whole team are on board to make sure she has had the least disruption possible, and we all feel she is at 'home from home'. She tells us about all the new people she has become friends with and chatting in the garden. 'I'm so lucky', in her words - and we feel the same. We've all landed on our feet after a tough 18-months. Thank you to the manager and Eastbourne Grange.

My mother has been a resident of Eastbourne Grange care home for about one and a half years. I have always been very happy with the care she receives; it is always very clean and tidy, the food is home-cooked and good, my mother always enjoys it. A new manager has taken over, and it is even better than
before; she always has time to talk to myself or my family and answer any concerns we have in a very friendly manner. All the staff are very friendly and polite. My mum recently turned 100-years-old; all the people at the home made it a great day. On behalf of myself and all my family, thank you.

My mother has been a resident at Eastbourne Grange Care Home for almost 18 months.   The quality of care she receives has always been excellent with home-cooked food that she loves and it is always spotlessly clean and always smelling fresh. Recently a new manager has taken over running the home and
as you can imagine we, the family were more than a little worried that the care would slide. However how wrong we were to worry if anything the ambiance of the home is still wonderful, if not better. It is an exceptionally calm place with wonderful staff, most of whom are new to Eastbourne Grange since the new manager was appointed, and are wonderful caring people. Well done to you all!  I would recommend Eastbourne Grange with honesty and with no doubts. I and my family are so pleased that my mum has a place there

Mum had to go into a care home at very short notice following frequent falls in her sheltered housing apartment and recovery in hospital. I was given three care homes to visit and view. Eastbourne Grange was the first we viewed, completely unannounced, and was so pleased, we took a room for Mum immediately.
My mum is still very independent, and the staff took great care in ensuring she settled in. Her care and treatment since that day, has been brilliant. All the staff are wonderful, and as I live some hours away, it is a great comfort and reassurance that my mum is getting such great care. I can't praise Eastbourne Grange enough.

My mother has been a resident at this care home now for over six years and is happy and content with both the environment she lives in and the quality of the care she receives. My visits to the home are always made welcome by the staff, and I am hoping to meet with the newly appointed manager on my
next visit. Like all care homes, they run on a tight budget, and if there is anything they could do more, it would be to provide more staff, although they cope very well. I am sure that this is typical of most care homes.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.229)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.229) out of 10 for Eastbourne Grange is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.729 for Eastbourne Grange is calculated as follows: ( (46 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.729

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Eastbourne Grange is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 25 registered maximum number of service users is 5, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
